Bioluminescence at Beaumaris, Anglesey

Got lucky and found some bioluminescence in the early hours of the summer morning while out helping lead a photography workshop through the night. Only a little to begin with but as high tide came just before it started to get light there was enough for us to have some fun with.

Timelapse footage of the noctilucent cloud display last night (June 2nd/3rd) from one of the two cameras I had running at the time. The first proper display of the short season for these clouds, (the previous night they were also visible, but only briefly and a bit of a let-down when they disappeared shortly after). Hopefully last night is a good sign for the next few weeks.

    Please respect the language of the country you're filming. It's NOT Snowdonia, it's Eryri (air-urr-ee not too difficult). You would be quite taken aback if we started talking about Manceinion or Caer or Efrog, or what would the Spanish say if you made a video of the Snowy Mountains (Sierra Nevada). We have a language and we're proud of it. One of our bards wrote this, "We were given a language, although we did not seek it, for its spirit was in the earth, and its restless power on the mountains". Please respect us.

    Hi Kris i was just wonderkng which settings u use on your camera while recording a movie of seasparkle. Which lens do you prefer ?

    • @KrisWilliamsphotos
      @KrisWilliamsphotos Před rokem

      Mainly any lens that allows you the lowest aperture, to let as much light in as possible, since its needs to be pretty much pitch-black for you to see any bioluminescence. I was using a Sony A7S, which has good low-light functionality to be able to push the ISO up to silly levels, I forget exactly how much now, but it would have probably been in the region of 80K-100K ISO, F2.8. I hope that helps...! (My lens btw was the Zeiss Batis 18mm F2.8)

If so, do I have the right to post my presentation on our school's website? Of course the video is non-profit.
