Thanks Mark, sounds like you have some great hiking memories of Swaledale :D Nice that you've walked a bit of the AT- I would love to walk it one day!

Another love of mine is old machinery! I always wonder why a piece of machinery just gets left - same goes for abandoned buildings! I imagine winning the lottery and restoring these building! We can but dream 😂
That's a very famous tractor now! I love anything to do with history- I like to imagine how we used to live :D
@@carriehikes me too!

Glad you like it!
Beautiful! I love captures of ruins amongst stunning scenery... very serene view! 😊
Thank you very much!
Lovely walk , look forward to the next one .Jeff
Thanks Jeff :D
Looks great. It’s on our to do list! (Great vid too - we’ve liked and subbed to catch more) 🙂
Thanks for the sub, it's a great little walk :D
The wall crossing is a bit iffy but there is a place where the wall is quite low. This is a prime example of an area being open access land and not openly accessible. That’s why I only bothered to summit it once despite many walks nearby.
Yeah, I'm sure there are a few places to cross if you have a look around but it was easy enough to climb over. Nice little summit though :D
Lovely video, looks like a really nice walk 😊
It's a fabulous walk :D

Hey new sub here 🥰 I’m a fellow Yorkshire hiker too but never been here before! Looks beautiful!
Hello and welcome! It's a great little walk, you'd love it :D
@@carriehikes I will try it out soon 😍🌞
A new place for me, so really interesting and despite the moody conditions, it looked perfect hiking weather. Canny walk up and a great lunch indeed and what a great memorial that was, great to see these guys remembered. very impressive walk and just plotted a route for myself to do it, at some point in the future - top notch walk indeed, cheers Alan
Hi Alan- you will enjoy the walk, easy parking in the car park and then straight onto the trail :D
👍 😊
Thanks Jenny :D
Very nice👌
Thank you :D
A truly beautiful hike 🙂
Yes, it is a lovely walk, a very beautiful dale :D
What a fantastic walk... those views looked awesome. I loved the ram with his very impressive horns, don't see many like that out on the hills! The clouds looked great, too! Great video, enjoyed it! 😊
Hi Jenny, yeah it is a great walk up to Buckden Pike. Can't say I've seen horns that impressive before! :D
Good morning Carrie. Beautiful start. The sky looked so good. Yes the views were amazing from up there by the trig. Clouds can add to views with the sun shining. Nice ram, he left you alone. Nice quiet one for you. Well done👋
Hi Jamie, that ram looked very grumpy. Have you managed to get to the Lake District yet?
@carriehikes Sorry for the slow reply. I've been out to Wetherspoons. £1.49 a pint cheapest pint £1.10😁 I had 3. Big spender. No not yet. I'm camping near Pen y Fan Brecon Beacons Friday, walk and camp. 2 weeks later Snowdon camp on lake there. Probably The Shropshire then and finally Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and some waterfalls October now. I walk and don't film also. I just like to be out sometimes and just enjoy it. Your videos are good Carrie. Keep having fun❤️👋
@@JamieHarding5 £1.10 a pint! That's how much we paid for beer in the 90's, back in my student days! Sounds like you've got some good trips planned. 😄
Alan Metalman sent me over! You have my support. I trust his recommendations. I subscribed and look forward for more. Thanks for the hike video. Enjoyed fully! Fabulous walk indeed.
Hello and welcome! Thanks and I hope you enjoy the channel :D
Nice one Carrie. One of my favourite dales 30s. I camped on the top. The Wellington bomber which crashed in 1942 only had one survivor, the rear gunner. He followed some fox hound tracks in the snow to a farmhouse. Later in the war he was shot down by anti aircraft guns and survived again as a prisoner of war. He died in 2017 I believe in Cambridge. These monuments help us to remember why we are free to walk the hills. Atb Carrie you’re turning out some great videos.
Hi Pete, it is lovely up there. Yes, I heard the story about the bomber, it's a fascinating piece of history and well worth remembering how we fought to retain our freedom :D
Try to get up there at least once a year, it's always a special treat if the visibility is good enough to see the eastern lake land fells. It is a bit of a big trotters paradise on the way down though😂, even at the best of times. Thanks for the video.
Hi, yeah it's a great place to walk to. The views are amazing, thanks for watching :D
Hi Carrie thank you for for sharing your walk with us arm chair walkers, Wharfdale and Swaledale are my 2 favourite valleys in the Yorkshire Dale's National Park, last time I was on the top of Buckden pike was back in 1990, and I did the whole of the Dale's Way that year too, that's a good walk to do too. atb Cheers Glenn it's a 👍from me
Hi Glenn, it's a beautiful area, I'll be back to walk Great Whernside soon. The Dales Way sounds like a great walk :D
Lovely. I'm sure you know the story about why the war memorial is there. It's fascinating.
Hi David, yeah the history of the plane crash is fascinating. As always, thanks for watching :D
First time up there Carrie and a result - few people to distract you, which is always nice. That ram sure did have some good horns. It must be something about the hill. Good going. Mark
Hi Mark, yes it was surprisingly quite up there but that's the beauty of the majority of the Dales compared to the Lakes and the Peak District- peace and quiet :D
@@carriehikes Hey, sounds like you have your favorite areas Carrie. It's nice to have places you can trust in.
What a great walk out and in great weather as well, we love Swaledale, although I do not think Mrs Metalman would appreciate that wall crossing but well done to you. Not a easy path to follow to the summit of Kisdon but a very impressive stone cairn and we do the wildflower walk between Muker and Keld every year but so disappointed that we missed it this summer. I bet you were pleased to get back on the flat ground again after that steep descent and we always take the flat path between the valley between the two villages, so nice to see it from above. Nice to see you saw the last of the wildflower meadows but if you time it right, they are a stunning sight. What a prefect way to end the day, a cider and a beer garden in the sun, cheers Alan
Yeah, I'll have to see the wildflowers a bit earlier next year, it's just been such lousy weather this year. Thanks ☺
Banging these vids out carrie 😊 those clouds are looking dull 👍
It was a cloudy day, but kept the sun off! ☺
Another good trek out there. I love the Yorkshire Dales, beautiful. And one of my favourite routes. Cheers, Warren :)
Hi Warren, I see you did a wild camp up at Buckden- I'll have to watch that video, it is a nice area and very accessible☺
@@carriehikes I have visited many time in the past years but twice recorded on my youtube, well, one to the top and around to the memorial and once just up from Buckden village for an overnight. Such a lovely area. :)
Great walk, carrie, awesome views, clouds looked amazing
Thanks, it was a nice little walk :D
We really enjoyed it and thank you for sharing the beauty of the surrounding nature that you brought, it's really calming
Thanks, it was a relaxing and beautiful walk :D
Hi Carrie 👋 Alan Metalman sent me to your channel. You have a new sub from me. Great video with spectacular views 👌 Fantastic ❤
Hello and welcome! Yes, that is a great walk, with very beautiful views all round :D
You have a habit of walking in all my favourite places Carrie and Keld and Muker are about the best of the lot. The Dales is my favourite National Park, deffo. When I was a young chap I could vault a dry-stone wall like Spring Heeled Jack......not any more alas....😭😉.
Hi Chris, my leaping days are also behind me but I can still climb! It's hard not to love the dales :D
Excellent conditions for a fickle mountain like Ingleborough Carrie 👌. Coincidentally, I just got back from Ingleborough this morning too and, for the first time in six visits, the weather was good. And yes, the cairn on Simon Fell is pathetic.....I almost missed it in wet and misty conditions a couple of years ago.🌧
Yeah, it's been some years since I went up Ingleborough in good conditions. I felt sorry for Simon Fell when I saw that cairn, it was pitiful :D
We like to take it easy on a warm day Carrie - can admire the views too. If I can I like to handrail things to get me somewhere - the wall was a good one and the climb. The Dales were looking awesome at 10.57 it has to be said. I've never been - I must change that. Muker was gorgeous-the whole scene. A fantastic walk. Mark
Hi Mark, 10.57 is one of my favourite views. Yes, you must visit the Dales sometime, it would be a shame not to! Thanks :D
@@carriehikes I can totally see why it's one of your faves Carrie. Reminds me of the Vale of Ewyas near me. I will certainly explore the Dales one day. A pleasure.
Summer has arrived at last, better late than never and it had to be be almost 20 years ago I was on the top of Ingleborough , so good to tag along with you. Nice present from your partner and I have the GoPro Hero 10 and love it, so you should be in for some sure crisp footage. Every year we make mixed, wild berry jam with out 4 year old grandson and we love it, the foraging and the eating. That was a great route up and some amazing scenery, especially when you hot the top, loved the moody clouds as well. Great way to finish the walk next to that lovely old church and I give your channel a shout out on my next video, which is out tomorrow, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, we have so much jam now I don't know what to do with it all! It's lovely that you make jam with your grandson, those are memories that will last with him forever. Thanks for the upcoming shout out, that is very much appreciated. I've just done a video of those wildflower meadows at Muker that your wife loves so much :D
Great vid carrie , gotta love a waterfall 👍, better routes to anywhere normally involve a wall or two 😂
Hi Rob, I'm sure you're used to climbing walls when bagging those trigs! :D
@@carriehikes 🤣🤣
Good video again Carrie. You film well. You walk and talk well too. Over 10 miles again. The weather didn’t look great but you captured and shared well. I thought I'd already commented on this video but I miss have forgot. Beautiful waterfalls, wild flowers, rivers. You are filming well with the tripod, like that. Funny in the old house or barn,"Stinks of sheep in here" Keep having fun👋💚❤️
Hi Jamie, it wasn't a bad walk that one. I would've liked to have spent more time at the pub though! :D
Love the flower shots, & has for jumping the wall... weve all done it before 🫣 but hey no damaged caused. 👍
Hi Danny, isn't the first wall and won't be the last one I've climbed over! :D
@@carriehikes hahaha love it 😀 💙
I did this walk last year from Muker, the Ursha Gap Camp site, going either side of kisdon hill to keld, loved it and i think up theres never dries out lol
Hi, I think you're right, it doesn't dry out! That campsite at Usha Gap looks amazing every time I walk through it, so peaceful :D
yes mate nice campsite met a few bike campers one morning i went on the footpath above the campsite nice view of kisdon we stayed at usha gap cottage for a week
It is a beautiful walk. We've done Muker to Keld several times. The meadows are picturesque but the stiles can be a bit tight!
Yeah the stiles are not designed for people wearing a rucksack for sure! It's a great walk that one, I'm always happy to walk around there :D
Hi Carrie, have not been up from Clapham way looked interesting and would love to go down Gaping gill, looked a very warm day to go up so getting the rain later wasnt that bad, go-pro giving some great views cheers nigel
Hi Nigel, I might try Ingleborough from Ribblehead next time, maybe in the winter when there is a bit of snow on the tops. I'm not sure about Gaping Gill, I've seen the photos and I'm not keen on heights! :D
Looks a pretty walk and you were lucky with the sun coming out to play too 👌
Hi Pauline, it is a beautiful walk, thanks :D
A delightful record of a superb walk through the unparalleled Yorkshire Dales. So quiet. Thanks!
Hi Michael, thanks- it is a superb walk and not too busy :D
Another great hike carrie... well done 😊
Thanks Danny :D
We passed Ingleborough on Tuesday coming back from the Lakes: you could hardly make it out, it was so misty.
Yeah, it soon gets lost in the mists!
Classic walk Carrie..the Go pro looks great, so sharp and crisp...i was shouting..."GO LEFT"...as you headed for Simon fell...Simon fell is a bit disappointing...but 2 more done...keep going.
Hi Steve, the gopro makes a big difference. Funnily enough, the guy who took the right side path was the one I spoke to later on and he said that route was awful and boggy, wished he didn't go that way!
Well done Carrie. 11 miles! You put a good shift in👏👏👌 It didn’t look like summer for you there. Tough year for hikers and views. Hopefully we'll have it good soon. I'm agree with you about completing the full walk. Hope your heel is holding up okay. Nice video sorry for being slow. I'll always catch up. Looked like you had a nice pint of cider at the end. Nice😁👍
Hi Jamie, it was a boggy walk on Dodd Fell, probably one I'll never return to! But still good to tick off another peak in the Dales challenge :D Always good to finish a walk with a cold one :D
