- It started off so well. Then it all went quickly downhill!
Blocked and destroyed footpaths in North Lincolnshire on The Nev Cole Way! And ironically, this year is North Lincolnshire's Year of Walking!
I did report the three footpath issues to North Lincolnshire council. Here is their reply, 'Thanks for letting us know about the footpath issues in East Halton and North Killingholme. North Killingholme 84 is subject to a diversion order which was objected to and is to be dealt with at a public inquiry in October. The last time I visited, the proposed new route was available, so I'll have that made accessible again. North Killingholme 86 is obstructed further along its length by a new substation for an offshore windfarm and there is a proposed diversion for this path. Once that is complete the whole path can be properly opened up. I'm aware of the issue on East Halton 999 and have written to the landowner requiring them to re-instate the footpath.'

So you had problems with blocked paths - sooooo annoying! Your views were a mix of lovely spaces and others which were industrial. Thank you for another lovely video Carrie, Cheers, Warren :)
Hi Warren, yeah I was pretty annoyed at the end! I'm looking forward to getting out to do some better walks now spring is here :D
An excellent video Carrie, initially you were blessed with excellent landscape and glorious skies. The route is not one I've heard of before and you highlighted deliberate access sabotage to the right of way. Well done for reporting.
Btw you looked glorious throughout and I ❤your hair 😍, Regards
Thanks, you're too kind :D
Nice weather and calm water 😊
Yeah, that was the best part of that walk. All went down hill after that. Lol
Bloody 'ell Carrie! Watching that made my blood pressure go through the roof. Some landowners are an absolute menace, they really annoy me. I hope you'll report these issues to the relevant PROW Officer. I thought my neck of the woods was bad but that was off the scale. 👎
Hi Chris, I did report the problems to the council.- I pasted their reply in the video details. Yeah, it was a flipping nightmare at the end! Still, I'm glad I tried walking the route to see the state of it.
@@carriehikes Oops, missed that. Just read it now 🙄
@@ChrisJB no worries😄
Hi Carrie, started out so well and seeing the marsh harrier, well done for reporting the footpath blockages seeing it must be part of the coastal path it must get resolved soon, anyways warmer weather coming this week get out and enjoy nigel
Hi Nigel. At least the weather has improved recently. Yeah it's a shame about the blocked paths- so frustrating!
Thought I’d commented. Anyhow well done for trying so hard Carrie.
Thanks, much appreciated 😃
You must have been very disappointed with all the obstacles, but thanks for sticking with it as best you could. Much appreciated.
Hi David, it was very disappointing and also exhausting. But, as I'm sure you already know, the reality is that many footpaths are blocked now and the councils have a backlog of landowners to deal with :( Thanks for watching :D
@@carriehikes Yes, I've come across barbed wire over paths in the Clapham area. Can't do much about quagmires in fields though!
@@davidhudson1994 Barbed wire- it makes me wonder if I should add a pair of wire cutters to my pack! 🤔
Hi Carrie...yeah that Vermuyden certainly left his mark in North Lincolnshire...Great to spot the Marsh Harrier....I often follow a section of the NCW around the Alkborough area....Shame about the Marshy blocked footpaths..Not the greatest path to follow...like you say "Forget it"
Good old Cornelius Vermuyden! Yeah, It is lovely around Alkborough, a gem of a walk that one. Unfortunately this section was a nightmare! But at least now I know and hopefully if people see this video they won't try and walk it. Like I say- it was dangerous in parts! Thanks for watching and commenting :D
Hello Carrie.
Fair play you ready and prepared to put a good shift in then. 13 miles +2 before. It was just made impossible for you.
Guessing you don't drive taking the bus and then you said train back. You did well and it was a nice watch. Real shame farmers and land owners blocked your path. Sad days.
You had nice weather and made me smile about forgetting to take the sun cream and being a ginger It’s needed.
Good video. Nice to see you back out again.😉👏👏👋
Hi Jamie. I do drive but because it's a linear walk I used public transport to get to it and back again. I'll try and use public transport rather than drive if it's convenient. Yeah, I actually walked about 17 miles that day in all! I was worn out after that :D
@@carriehikes
Good to know.
That’s a big walk.😁👏👏👍
I have noticed paths i have walked for years have been blocked since the pandemic, makes you wonder about these conspiracy theories
I don't know any conspiracy theories about footpaths- you might have to enlighten me about that one 😀
@@carriehikes I meant more general, restricting our movements in various ways😄
