NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 1990: Tom Savini’s Forgotten Remake is a Zombie Gem
The first 2 minutes of Night Train to Terror
Your videos are so good man. You pack so much into everything you do. Thanks for all the great content!
I like the Batman comics mostly because it feels grounded, atleast the mainline Batman and Detective Comics. There are supernatural elements but they kinda seem to fit in. I tried reading AllStar Superman recently (my first Superman comic) and I was just turned off by its grand scale. Didn't feel personal enough.
Tbh beyond thunderdome is still the most quotable movie for me, my parents and I still quote the master blaster duo every chance we get
Brad Dorff deserved an Oscar for his role! And I would posit a change to an old adage, "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was making everyone beLIEve that a Loving God ever existed."
Who. Run. Bartertown?
Furry Road is one of my favorite films ever, looking forward to see this film.
You call uneven dude you need to reevaluate your thinking
DeMayo's quote about nostalgia seems a bit ironic considering the business model of Mickey's MemberBerries Factory...🤣 The first show started when I was 16. So, I only caught a handful of episodes. If you grew up with the comics, it wasn't hard to pick up an odd episode & follow along. But, the way interweb chuds reacted to this sparked my interest. Then Jawn Louis, a CZcamsr whose opinion I respect, started talking about it & I decided to give it a look. Boy! I was not disappointed. X-Men '97 seemed like a love letter to all the old heads & 40-somethings who cherished the comics. Only someone with no knowledge of the source material would take issue with this show. That or the grifter contrarian types. Here's hoping they don't Disney+ it going forward.🤞 Great video!
The movie feels like you're being told a fairy tale ir something, and it's all wrapped in the language of an action movie. I loved all of it
The more I think about it the more I like it
The end of the first movie, Taylor assumes a nuclear war happened but is obviously climate change.
I hope they don't give Wolverine bone claws. It was an asinine creative decision when they did it in the comics, contradicting previously established continuity that his adamantium claws were implants. Plus it would be much more interesting to work with a completely declawed Wolvie.
Thanks for the video Matt ❤
I love the world building in Thunderdome. That is what i loved here. It fully gives a better look of this world and how it all works. I did not feel the runtime at all as i was fully invested in the world. Imho the title cards served no purpose as many fade outs are used. It felt unnecessary. I have a theory on Praetorian Jack as i did with Hardys Max from FR
Respectfully I disagree with your opinion there are legitimate complaints that you never addressed properly
George Miller is a master of complex action movies
My compliments to your review. It's right on the mark and one of the best reviews I've seen on this classic.
X-MEN done wrong.
Didnt think id ever hear DGD in as background music but props 👍
Love your stuff man keep up the good work
I really like your connection of the long defeat to The Long Halloween; it’s a great contextualization that adds to my reading experience. Thanks!
Is that what Mad Max: The Wasteland is gonna be about? The battle with Scrotus?
The Wasteland is a Max focused prequel to Fury Road and the material for it was used in the Mad Max video game, which is why Scrotus is in that and Furiosa but not Fury Road. George hasn’t said many details but I’m 99% sure that’s the plan
@@MattDraper ayyyyy, awesome!
It'll be about the battle with my scrotum.
Seeing this on letterbox first was awesome
How Mad Max nearly ended? I'd say that it ended...
I do think it's pretty lame and awful to judge anyone for their taste in movies. Kind of dumb to say you'd judge someone for something like that don't you think? Wes Craven may have had some movies that didn't make what the studio wanted at the box office, but to call them misses is incorrect. Shocker, Deadly Friend, New Nightmare and The People under the Stairs are all very good, entertaining films. Remember, Craven had constant interference from studio heads and was constantly having to change things in his movies to please the studio. So it's Craven's talent and intelligence that shines through and makes these films as entertaining as they are. Judging a movie by box office is nuts. Did you know that The Thing bombed at the box office? Does that make it a bad film? Do you know how many awful movies make a ton of money and great movies bomb? Wes was amazing. I cannot think of another directer who has such likable, relatable characters in their films. Even in Craven's "lesser" films, the characters are still fantastic. You can't say that about Carpenter, who was very talented at storytelling but awful at characters. You can tell when he and Debra Hill parted ways.
Although I feel there are more bad 90's horror movies than 70's or 80's, there were also a ton of great 90's horror movies. And to be fair, I feel like horror movies have never been as good as the 80's. There are some good horror movies here and there but they are just not what they used to be. Some great 90's horror movies are: 1. Child's Play 2, 3 and 4 (aka Bride of Chucky) 2. Popcorn 3. Sleepwalkers 4. The Guardian 5. Gremlins 2 6. Urban Legend 7. I Know what you did Last Summer 8. Candyman 9. Halloween H20 10. Misery 11. Tremors 12. Night of the Living Dead (remake) 13. Wes Craven's New Nightmare (a personal favorite of mine) 14. The People Under the Stairs 15. Tales from the Darkside 16. Nightbreed 17. Disturbing Behavior 18. The Craft 19. Dead Alive (aka Braindead) 20. Happy Hell Night 21. The First Power 22. The Mangler 23. Stir of Echoes 24. Ghost (it's got enough horror to call it horror it think) 25. Sleepy Hallow 26. Demon Knight 27. Psycho 4 28. The Resurrected (1991) 29. Tales from the Hood 30. Scream (saved the best for last)
Some lesser know monster movies 1. Snow Beast 2. Island Claws 3. The Cellar 4. The Prophecy 5. Scared to Death 6. Slugs 7. Creepozoids 8. Cellar Dweller 9. Slithis 10. CHUD 11. Alligator People 12. Day of the Animals 13. Deadly Eyes 14. Squirm 15. Wolfen
HEY!! I LOVED the remake!! Most Fred-Heads hate it, but I don't!! I actually prefer it to that overrated Friday remake!! Also, I sincerely hope that Blumhouse doesn't get ahold of the Freddy rights... especially after how badly they fucked up both Halloween and Exorcist!! GIVE IT UP already, Blumhouse!! Stick to your lame ghost/possession movies. MAN, I want, no NEED a new Freddy movie!! He's my favorite horror icon out of him, Jason, Michael Myers, and Leatherface!! (Although I LOVE those other guys, too!!)
I just read that bat-shit crazy Nightmare 13: Freddy Meets Jason script tonight, which was actually a pretty enjoyable read, if not a bit bonkers!! It's as crazy as things get!! You have a crazed, grizzled cop named Captain Renton Murdoch and a S.W.A.T. team hunting down armed Freddy Krueger cultists, who are all burned, disfigured and dress like Freddy, who are also trying to bring him into our world, so he can rule both the dream realm and the real world. And YES, there is a blood-soaked 'boxing match' in Hell, where our 2 horror icons beat the shit outta each other!! Look it up and check it out!! It's pretty easy to find and pretty goddamn fun!!
Dr. Strange was forced to help Doom and Doom betrayed him.
Great work, thanks,
There was an episode of the Three Stooges, where a mad doctor wanted to transplant Curly's brain into a Gorilla, the Gorilla befriended Curly and turned on the doctor grabbed a machinegun and shot up the place I always said that was the real birth of the Planet of the Apes !!!😂🦍🐵😎🐸 Leave it to the Stooges!
Compared to the earlier "Beyond the Black Rainbow," also set in a fictional 1983, it is (dare I say it to the fans of the latter) a much improved movie. More relatable, a clearer plot, and of course Nicholas Cage's goofy craziness. It doesn't have the prior movies deep subtext, and the visuals only part of the time go into low-res color, but once you get past trying to figure out what type movie this is supposed to be it's enjoyable and has a style that draws some parts from the earlier movie but is uniquely it's own.
16:37 me and my kindergarten friends pretending to be monsters:
maybe you or someone here can help me find a name of a movie, i saw it here on youtube. the killer is a young man that's missing an arm, he`s a compulsive liar and falls for a woman who paints and lives on the beach, the killer takes over a mansion and kidnaps the painter, it ends in the mansion.
Jerry Goldsmith music score was the greatest.
The Chrono Trigger music is appropriate for this.
Nothing compares to the original saga. The newer films are fine, but I find the lack of good science-fiction storytelling the issue. In the originals each film took a drastic turn science-fiction wise and kept bringing new elements into play. The new films are simply a progression on one theme. For that I find them lacking. They have realistic looking apes, but not the most compelling science-fiction. The originals were never about realistic apes, more stylized, but the science-fiction storytelling is absolutely top notch and can’t be touched.
Excellent stuff.
I'm a lefty who is also an instructor at my club. I wanted to chime in with my experiences. I teach classes right handed to make it the easiest for most of the students to learn. If I have another lefty then ill partner with them fir drills. In solo training and sparring with longswords / sabre I fence lefty. In sword snd shield / buckler I fence righty because I find you need a bunch of dexterity in bith hands as they move the seperate objects anyway. This lets me apply the techniques from sources and make tactical allowances for my sword arn being my "weak arm". Bow howdie can i win shield binds with ease 😂
No Terror Train?
Bought this today, can't wait to read it
I absolutely love most of all, that Marvel was like oh, the general audience thinks Fox studios X-Men is what X-Men is really about.. "hold my Scott and Jean photo frame.." and straight Cooked em with Xmen 97'🔥😎
I quite like the Tim Burton version. It's disappointing, but has some cool ideas and visuals. Just roll with the premise: An early 2000s 'Planet of the Apes' by Tim Burton, and you might find it fun. The makeup is great, too.
If they bring the Krakoa x Arakko storylines in the next season, I'll lose my entire existence lol, since I already lost my mind during the first season.
And today, the apes that are religious nuts, who suppress the truth and lie about everything and anything, are the evangelical, war mongering, terrorist, Republicunts VS Cornelius and Zira who are the feelings are more important than facts, Feminazi, white man hating Democraps
The Heisei Era is probably my favourite Goji era, outside of Reiwa Don’t get me wrong Showa and Millennium are good, but Showa has some really bad stuff mixed with some decent highs, and Millennium is extremely inconsistent and is pretty derivative at points Heisei on the other hand is consistently good with decent human characters and excellent tokusatsu, each flowing together very well Combine that with the relatively constant tone and themes you get pretty much the definitive Godzilla era Only one I don’t particularly care for is Return of Godzilla, don’t get me wrong it’s a good movie, I just found it pretty boring. Hell there’s only one I actually dislike and that’s Vs SpaceGodzilla
That Tina Turner song is pure power ballad banger gold and Wasteland worthy.
The family drama, love drama sucked, but the Russells made the show.
Honestly the original 54’ Goji somehow coming back to fight the current Godzilla is such a metal idea to end to the heisei series. We got Vs Destroyah though so it all worked it
