Happy Residecember Evil II! Which do you prefer - RE2 or RE2R?
Re2 R and re2 are both equally important but I thinknre2 R has a slight edge over the original due to improvement to gameplay
Both versions are classics but the original is my favorite overall
Remake comes close at points but og is still best in series imo 👌
The only place I ever liked fixed camera was silent hill, because it adds a sense of detachment from the protagonist. So RE2make is certainly a gameplay improvement

Leon’s scenario in 6, technically didn’t end in an explosion.
RE7 had no explosion.
Revelations one and two didn’t etc end in explosion.
Darkside chronicles and Darkside chronicles also didn’t end in an explosion.

@@andrewolson4382 plus not every RE1 ending has the lab exploding. There are also endings with No explosions, where Tyrant's shadow is shown in the forest
Both OG RE2 and RE2R are easily some of the best horror games of all time. It’s been a minute since I played RE2R and this video has me itching (tasty) to replay it. Happy Residecember Evil!

Resident Evil 2 Remake is straight-up masterpiece. Leon, Claire and Ada are the trinity of hotness.
I do wish their scenarios interacted more like they did in the original and what you did in the first affected the other. would have made making decisions harder.
13:41 I always found it hilarious that Leon and Ada is treated like some great love story in the original. They knew each other for one day during the outbreak, she lied to him that she was trying to find her boyfriend John who she not only knew became a zombie in the mansion but she'd only pretended to love him to get Umbrella's secrets, she used Leon to steal the G-Virus and threatened to shoot him. In the remake he's actually suspicious of her "FBI agent" cover story and calls her out for using him when he realises the truth and still hasn't forgiven her in remake 4.
Because in the original, even though Ada was using him, she had humanity and felt bad because she knew Leon was a good man.
Whereas the remake, Ada is constantly douchey to Leon and overly reliant and Leon acts so demanding and entitled and acts like he never trusted Ada when he did, but all in the sudden he misses her?
Since your first Residecember I started to play the RE1 Remake and made my way to the RE4 Remake and the RE2 Remake became one of my favorite games of all time, so I’m glad, that you made this video :)

But the whole Annette and boss battles fail and the consequences between the scenarios was all over the place. One of the Things I Liked About the Resident Evil 2 Reboot, Was the Character Development Between Claire & Shelly. Their Dynamic was Almost Akin to Ellen Ripley & Newt of Aliens!!!

I love your Resident Evil videos. Glad Resicember is back :). I just finished RE2 Remake not too long ago and I was unexpectedly dissapointed on account of the the A/B scenario (or lack thereof) and how the actions from one did not impact the other - or even contradict each other within the same timeline- I also would've loved an in-game option to play the game with a fixed camera angle. It is one of the defining elements of the original resident evil trilogy and, although I did enjoy with the shoulder camera angle, it would've been the type of bonus that would've shown true service to the original. To focus on the positive, the game absolutely elevated Mr.X to new heights .... I can still those damn footsteps of doom. xD.

The RE2 remake is an example of taking a game thats already been said to be one of the greatest games and make it even better, Capcom did such a phenomenal job fully realizing what made the original version so scary and make it even more terrifying. It's absolute masterclass.
The Remake is weak in many aspect and it's definitely weaker than the original.
Only Remake that felt like an upgrade is Rebirth and RE4 arguably.
Its game play and graphics are amazing, but it is a lesser game. The original had A and B scenarios for both. Not just second runs and the characters felt like they were sharing a story. The remake almost entirely forgets about which character you're not playing as. A good remake should give you more content, not less. Resi 1 has the best remake by a mile.
It wasn't designed to make the original better, it was designed to be it's own game. Regardless they are both really good games.

The music from the original RE2 is masterful and I don’t think I would’ve have enjoyed RE2 remake without playing through with the original soundtrack. That is the best way to play RE2 remake in my opinion.

I'm currently playing the game, at the part where we play as Ada. I grew up a fan of the films, and got into the games when RE4 was huge... and played a bit of that, Code Veronica (the tank controls confused me!), and loved Outbreak 1 as a child (underrated), and played RE5, and 6 on my own. Haven't played the others, but I'd like to following the RE2 remake which i've enjoyed quite a lot!
Is it just me or did anyone else love the old cheesy dialogue and love the story and game anyway?
I remember playing RE2 with my brother when I was little and saying how cool would it be if gameplay graphics would be as good as the cutscenes… now they are even better. Damn, how times have flown.

RE 2 isn't really a remake, it's more like a reimagining because it was designed to be different from it's original.

Remake 2 was very good, I liked it, and it cemented the inventory management back into RE after it was put into RE7, this good reception made it stay. I like to play the new one, and it's awesome, but it failed to capture the amazing storytelling of the AB scenario, as they did in 1998. Back then, they had a decent sequel but needed a shake up.They brought in a super professional story teller to come up with that amazing concept and design. It's a bummer they cheapened this in the remake by making you fight mostly the same bosses and do the same things, with much less variation and way less reason to play through a full AB scenario. Also hated that they put Tyrant into the A scenario bc that moment in B when he first busts out is a real pants shitter moment. The original RE2 did it better, but the remake almost did it full justice. It wasn't hated and trashed like re3 remake, I'll say that much.
There is evidence that they had an better execution of the AB scenario planned, but they either ran out of time, or ultimately chose to push this to market. It's just disappointing is all, bc almost everything else in the game is an upgrade, but the AB scenario was completely squandered in the Remake, and that's a sin, bc it was revolutionary, UNIQUE story telling that I appreciate to this day. So Resident Evil 2 1998 for life, but the remake didn't piss me off or anything lol. re3 is another story.
While I agree RE2R is almost perfect for me if not for the lackluster B scenario and would want to see capcom do a RE2 directors cut with a more fleshed out and prooer B scenario.
That said, i disagree with Mr. X. In OG RE2 he was a secret boss because no one expected RE2 to have a B scenario and didnt expect a new boss after going through the A scenario. 20 years later, Mr. X is iconic and was expected for the sequel. So the surprise factor was gone, however the building up to him in Leon A is great because you see his strenght when he kills Ben and then reveals himself later on when he lifts the helicopter. Plus mechanically he is better now that he stalks the halls

i loved the resident evil 2 remake it was such a great and very badass and as a huge fan of Resident evil series this was freaking fantastic and one of the best horror remakes of this generation in my opinion.
The remake was so good but the very first remake (on Gamecube and eventually the Wii) was the one that really started the remake revolution. RE2 remake did better but let's not forget the original remakes.
I think that people heap far too much praise on the remake. The pursuant craze was on after Jack Baker, so what do they do? Add Mr. X to botch campaigns. Zapping system was revolutionary for a game at that time and the fact that it had an effect on the second play through was incredible. Remake is basically play through the game with Leon, then play it again with Claire. What you did with Leon had VERY LITTLE to NO effect on Claire’s run. Didn’t i fight Birkin here? Yes, exactly the same place and “killed” him the exact same way. I found 2 to be an ENORMOUS let down for those reasons alone, so for you to say “meh” that the zapping system wasn’t there, might be your reaction but I doubt it was the majorities reaction.
I will admit that the voice acting, other than Ada, was great and the additional story given to other characters was great (though I think the Irons stuff was COMPLETELY unnecessary), but it would have given me far more reasons to play again if there was genuinely something to see other than Ada in one and Sheri in the other. Still great games, but for me, disappointing overall.
DOn’t get me started on the R3MAKE.
The Alan Wake soundtrack halfway through threw me off so much XD

Honestly, I think RE2 has my favorite remake in the series next to RE1. The original game while aged in certain areas is still a great horror game, and the remake basically just took the concept of "What if RE2 was released today" and completely turned it into an entirely new experience while still keeping the same general plot structure. I still can't describe how much of an upgrade Mr. X had in the remake compared to the original.

She’s incredibly bi-polar in the remake. She tells Claire to let Sherry die but then suddenly cares about Sherry in the end.. what a terrible character
I've only played the beggining bits of most RE games. I either fall off due to difficulty or dealing with the horror. For some reason, I keep buying the games though as I have some strange curiosity with them.
To me the missing fully realised Scenerio B is too noticeable in RE2R. Which is where the original really shines. When it comes to the REmakes though, REmake 1 is still Survival Horror, perfected.
Residecember Evil is back baby! It definity took RE2 Remake for me to dare walk through Raccoon city. It's always been the best scenario for a zombie outbreak so 3D offers more realism and immersion. Especially When Mister X is let loose.

I saw online could be a leak or faked but RE 2 remake in the style of Nintendo gamecube remakes of RE 1 and RE 0. I wish or hope it is real. Since Nintendo switch can't Run RE2 Remake, But can Run the Gamecube remake in HD. it would be awesome to get RE 2 and RE 3 in the style of the gamecube HD remakes.it would have fixed camera and classic feel.
The two remake is way better than VII and Village. I never have been able to get behind the first person aspect of the last two games.
While I enjoyed the RE2 remake, I think Darkside Chronicles did the characterization, dialogue/writing, and monster design better.

Remake2 is pretty good, but the replay value is low, I beat it 4 times and was done, where as I don't even know how many times I've beaten OG2, its just a fun game to replay much like re4 og.
Resident Evil after 4 definitely had an identity crisis and it seems that 7,8, and the remakes are trying to fix that.
I don't know the ending 7 sours it. The boat section was tedious and so they compensated And amped up the action by giving a machine gun . 8 was even more amped up it wasn't scary even the producer said they toned down the horror and scariness due to people complaining re2remake was to scary which was a dumb decision. It's supposed to be horror survival it's supposed to be scary but they wanted to sell more so they dumbed it down. I feel like those consumers were not real fans and it's like complaining you got wet by going in the pool. Re3remake wasn't made by Capcom only published it was handed down to M2 studios on a budget and time constraints and that's why it came out very underwhelming when it could have been the goat if they really paid homage respect and love to the original 99 re3 nemesis. And 4remake to Me is still not scary neither was the original back in 2005 but I understand people love it . Hopefully when there is a code veronica remake it doesn't get handed down to M2 studios like 3remake. Other than that it just seems Capcom is looping right back to action which turned Me off from the series back in 2005. Re2remake is the goat now and stays that way to me until they make something as terrifying as that experience

RE7 and 8 were pure dogshit. RE7 is just cheap jumpscares with sluggish mechanics and unnecessary padding like the video recordings, not to mention the final boss is a glorified cutscene
Village is a bad imitation of RE4 but tries to be RE7 as well despite both games being different, it makes the pacing horrendous

I had zero sympathy for Birkin in the original. When we see him in his pre-G-type mode, he had that anime trope where his eyes were in shadow and giving off singular points of light. He even spoke of his G-Virus as a beautiful piece of bio-organic weaponry that he could make a fortune off of. There was implication he was prepared to screw over Umbrella, and future entries played out that scenario (especially RE0).
I personally never liked RE2 as much as I loved RE3 and 1. RE2 Remake was great, the OG is better and I honestly wish CAPCOM hadn’t fucked up RE3 Remake.

RE2 Remake ruined most of the characters. Leon went from doing anything to save civilians to a dick who points his gun at almost everyone he meets. He leaves Ben in the cell to die while OG Leon wanted to get him out so they could escape. Ada in Remake had no reason to go to RPD since she apparently knew everything already, including where the lab was. She's also straight up mean to Leon all the time. Her pretending to be FBI instead of a civilian ruins their dynamic as Leon is no longer protecting Ada in his eyes. He's just following her around. If fucking dumb and a tragedy to the story which I might add ruined the unique scenarios of the original. Nice gameplay at a huge cost.
