Haydn's composition (a staple for a very long time) is masterful and demanding, this might be especially true for this movement with its jumps. When you play it in public you better know where you are skills wise. (The list of great renditions is as long as there were and are the notorious masters of the instrument.) There is, having said this though, no danger for the young lady who happens to be a very young master. My highest esteem my gracious lady. That's what they'd have said back in the day.

Schumann didn't write much for the cello. Another set of pieces was rumoured about, but those note were destroyed by his wife. The German "Volkston" is such a rare instruction. It's surely meant as an indication of folk music (not too sophisticated, possibly with a chanting quality). That's the exact point where composition and performing artist(s) must be enthusiastically cheered - such a wonderful match. Making her cello sing is definitely one of her fortes.

Obviously, you are an incredibly talented human being and the potential is unlimited. I do, however wonder if you’ve experimented with a more, “fleshy” vibrato. Maybe angling your hand back like a violin player to get a more lush sound. Also, has there been much emphasis on a continuous vibrato? Other than that, magnificent.

It's such a popular piece. It's spectacular and catchy. Written for violin, but so often played on the cello - we can use it as a kind of gauge for improvement and differences in playing. It's also tricky, because you don't want it to sound rushed, although you want to demonstrate a nice portion of your command (virtuosity). Well, play it like here, then you play it great. [If you're here by chance, be informed about another version on this channel from two years ago!]

David Popper was a cellist (at the end of the 19th century). Oh, we can hear that. So many notes in such a short time. You have to put your accents right to keep it exciting. Todays performance, spectacular (these elves are very busy and good humoured). One fun fact: Popper used to play without endpin (for a long time) which means the position of the cello between the legs (actually the calves) is quite different to the modern way of holding the instrument. In order to avoid bowing your far knee players have to rotate the cello a tiny bit.
