hello Randi :-) You have to be careful with rice. There have been studies in Germany that rice contains a lot of arsenic when cooked plain. It is recommended to do it like in Asia. Before cooking, wash the rice until the water is clear. It is even better to soak the rice for at least 2 hours and then wash it until the water runs clear. This removes most of the arsenic. Arsenic is a natural component of rice, so it has nothing to do with fertilizers or sprays. Greetings form the other side of the world ;-)

I learned so many home making tricks from you and I think the most valuable was how you made scrambled eggs ina stainless steel pan without them sticking. If you know Pluto, the little dog who became famous during the pandemic, when she was having trouble on slippery floors she got what she called “Snack traction socks” which are doggie socks with rubber spots on the bottom. They seemed to work really well! Something you might consider trying with your dogs.

I have a big clunky Dyson, it's the model that came out before the one with the ball, so it's pretty old. It works great, but it's heavy and doesn't fit under furniture like the newer stick models. I keep waiting for it to die, so I can get a cordless one, but it just will not!
