Thank you Randi for the nuggets of wisdom about routines and habits . It’s true starting is always hard work but then it seems to become easier with time. I’ve noticed you fixed the buttons on the ottoman. Was it hard to do? Have a fab weekend 🥰
So many people get discouraged when they can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But when you do see it, it can be motivating. 😉 I was going to share that with you guys, but it was 5 am and I was still in my pjs. 😂 The hard part was removing all the staples to get to the buttons 🤦🏼♀️ but I’m so glad it’s fixed. 🙏 Take care and enjoy your week! 🥰
Just a quick note that I bought a Tineco floor machine based on your recommendation a few weeks ago and wow! It’s transformed how I feel about mopping floors and i love seeing the results (all that dirty water-yikes!) Hi Randi. I’m wearing short and tank top because it’s hot here Southern California. I always cut the tags off of pillows, dish towels, dish clothes, blanket etc. because those tags are bother me. LOL 😊

Hello Randi 👋 merci pour cette vidéo. J’ai adopté votre technique pour le pliage du linge c’est top 👍 le ménage de chaque pièce je le fais toutes les semaines et une fois par mois une pièce à fond . Nous sommes 2 à la maison, mon mari et moi. Un chien et un perroquet . Notre fils a 36 ans qui vit en couple et nous avons un petit fils de 9 ans . Nous avons une grande maison et un grand jardin . Do you use any specific cleaners or air fresheners in your home?
I try to avoid using chemical if I can. Dish soap and vinegar solution is a good multipurpose cleaner. But I do like scented candles, especially in the fall and winter months.
What’s in the amber colored jar? It looks like flower petals or potpourri?
More flower petals...the first jar. 😂

You have a lovely home. Thank you for sharing your routines.▫️Routines are key. I have a well-practiced morning reset routine similar to yours. Focused on bedroom, bathroom, laundry & dishes. It goes quickly. ▫️Another well-practiced “coffee time” routine when I check my planner, clear email, clear phone messages & history, clear unwanted photos from my phone and iPad. I take meds and check vitals and update my self-care journal. Check in with my sibs group text. And, finally do a practice Spanish language lesson in Duolingo.
▫️My zone routine is similar to yours. I break it down into parts also: structure (ceiling, walls, floors, windows, doors, switch plates), fixtures (lights, fans, blinds, vents) furniture and decor. I find myself struggling to do my zone work though. ✳️ You’ve inspired me to change my approach & tackle the room in one go instead of trying to break it up across the week. And, I think I need a squeegee for windows. I think I have one in the garage. I use a flat head mop covered with a microfiber towel. Our windows have the horizontal opening for cleaning the outsides from inside the house. ✳️ Your 8 week zone schedule intrigues me. I’m going to look for your explanation of it. I’ve followed FlyLady monthly zone schedule - perhaps that’s why I struggle.

Do you have any tips for starting to implement cleaning routines like this? I’d love to start but getting to a point of maintenance cleaning instead of things piled up everywhere feels so daunting.
Start with an easy daily task, like cleaning up kitchen after dinner, or making the bed. If you miss a day, just start again the next day. It sounds like you may need to declutter. Fewer things = smaller piles. Get in the habit of putting things away instead of putting them down. So make sure there is a place for everything, so you can put everything in its place. Starting a routine is easy…ish. Sticking to it is harder. Start small and build on it. Tidy for 5 minutes every day. Once you start to see progress you’ll be inspired to add more. Fly Lady has a great system to help you get started. She calls them baby steps. You got this! 😉
