    Jean-Claude Van Damme was found liable for the knife accident on set of cyborg. Why is this case any different? Pulling a trigger with people in front of your barrel is dumb regardless of it being for a movie or anywhere else. Even if the firearm had blanks in it injures would be likely. Why would you drop a hammer on a dummy round that would be used for frontal camera angle? He knows he did the wrong thing that is why he lied.

    The armorer on the movie, 'RUST' Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who loaded a firearm with live ammo & then handed the gun to Baldwin, was also the movie set weapons handler on the film, 'The Old Way' (2 months earlier to the 'Rust' incident) where she would fire guns next to the actors & crew without warning. She angered Nicolas Cage & other crew members for her lack of basic firearm safety protocols & demanded her dismissal. Guess they were lucky no one was seriously hurt during the making of that movie. As far as I can see, Baldwin was only guilty of pointing a gun at someone between takes & pulling the trigger.A stupid thing to do, even if the gun only had blanks, which presumably Baldwin believed it had but despite my dislike of him (which has nothing to do with his gun control stance) I can't accuse him of manslaughter or even causing death by misadventure;

    Re grammar and words. People are misusing the reflexive, ‘myself’, when they should be using the correct, ‘me’ or ‘I’. Additionally, many people say, 'like I said’, when the correct is, 'as I said'. Re books, I’m reading Glenn Tucker’s wonderful history book, ‘High Tide at Gettysburg’.

    He'll have to live with having fired the gun..... not good for him. The armourer was a last minute stand-in and lacked experience for the job. She may very well have been intimidated by Baldwin's attitude and that may have made her less vigilant than she needed to be. A live round was on the set and it shouldn't have been. Apparently they had done live firing the day before with the same gun. I think Baldwin had the (very light) trigger back when he cocked the gun, so when he let the hammer go it fired. He should not have pointed the gun as he did, but it went off with a live round because the armourer failed in her duty to make sure that NO live ammo was on the set. I believe the armourer is doing prison time...... which is appropriate. Baldwin was not a "gun guy" so his clumsy handling was inevitable, and he would not know to check the gun himself as someone familiar with them might do. A very sad business all around.

    A very well known Armorer turned down the job for that movie because of how it was being run and not great safety procedures and such, so that's why they hired that girl for the Armorer position. I don't think Baldwin should have gotten the full 18 months like the girl did, but I think 2 or 3 months in jail would have been sufficient for lying about pulling the trigger which I believe he did. He was in charge of how much safety and time spent on it was allowed and apparently he didn't allow much from what other workers have stated. As far as I know movies are made without someone actually pointing the gun at someone and pulling trigger like a lot of people think. Whenever a gun is discharged in a movie it isn't pointed at someone, the angles they video the scenes make it seem that way. If a gun is actually pointed at someone normally it is empty or not a real gun. Baldwin wasn't even suppose to be shooting the gun because they were not even filming at the time. He was supposedly practicing his draw out of his holster or something and for sure he shouldn't have been pointing it at any one let alone having the hammer back and or pulling the trigger. He was essentially wasting money by firing the gun when it didn't need to be fired, and that is what people on set have said because he had done that before the accident ever happened.

    I understand your sympathy but if you hired someone for your channel and knew they had zero firearm experience. Then someone got killed making a video for you, then you would hold some responsibility. To let him go of all responsibility because he is ignorant is negligent, at best. Sorry, not sorry.

    there is a big difference between an accident occuring during shooting a scene and fooling around with a weapon between scenes. the onus is on the person in charge of the weapons to ensure everyone in the cast and crew knows weapon safety, and the onus is on the producer to employ someone in charge of weapons who is going to do that job correctly. Baldwin was the producer, so he is ultimately responsible for the killing.

    Baldwin wants the world so safe as to take your guns and my guns and Johns guns...and yet he still makes millions of dollars from us and he NEVER has to answer for ANY safety at all. Its ALWAYS someone elses fault never his. If he wants safety in the gun community, then he needs to lead the way as far as SHOWING us how the movie guys will NEVER make this mistake again. What is he doing to make "HOLLYWOOD" guns safe? He calls us dangerous with guns, but he is the one that killed someone. Come on Baldwin, what are YOU going to do to make MOVIE guns safe? Remember Baldwin, it was YOU not the gun that was the problem. Just like WE gun owners need to practice safe gun handling...its US not the gun that makes mistakes.

    I have no sympathy for Alec Baldwin. Gun safety is a personal responsibility. I would never point any gun at anybody, even on a movie set, without personally checking it as safe. If you have no knowledge of said gun, then you have to be educated first. North doing that is negligence on his part. If someone checks a gun, then hands it to you, what do you do? You check it again, your self. You never rely on someone else.

    Who hired the armorer? Was the armorer qualified? Why did the safety brief get ignored? Who allowed the live ammo on the set? Sounds to me that there were a bunch of non-qualified people making bad decisions. Due to that one person is dead and another will live with the results of a grievous act. I would not presume to state whether or not he is guilty or not guilty. That is the job of the judicial process. At the same time, I am unwilling to take a "Oh well, accidents happen" attitude. You make good points sir, but you do know that not everyone will agree. My thoughts; God will have the final say, and our opinions won't matter a whit.

It was the negligence of Gutierrez, and carelessness of Baldwin, that she is not here today. How does one tell her mother that her daughter was killed making a movie and due to a legal oversight, the people responsible for her death will go on with their lives and put it all into the past?
