Welcome to the "Hickok45 Talks" Channel. This channel is a place for me to just pontificate about random topics that somebody out there might find interesting. I will talk about firearms issues quite a lot, but I'll also exercise my license to talk about any topic I might pretend to know something about.
If you have a topic you'd like me to address, let me know. Doesn't mean I'll address it, but who knows, I might.
Thanks for your support, and I hope you'll subscribe to all three of our channels and keep up with all the brilliance here!!! :-)

Glock is the Toyota of handguns. Nothing fancy, dependable, reliable, runs forever, and reasonably priced.
There are many legitimate reasons why glock will continue to be successful but ultimately, most of it has to do with the fact that they have never really competed in the market. “It’s there if you want it, and if not then move on to other product” and I think that’s what ultimately makes Glock successful in the marketplace. People either love that about them, or resent it, but either way is Relevant and beneficial, because Glock is always talked about. And that’s just the marketing part… that doesn’t include real world experience regarding the reliability aspect.
Beat me to it. Exactly.
For me Glocks are strange gun, but it works and works well.
Well said.
You want a simple semiauto handgun that you know u can trust your life to....
But a Glock.....
They just run and run and run....
Dirty......They just Work....
Ugly....Yes.....
Work everytime.....Hell Yes...
I'm a Glock fan. Don't care what anybody else is into.
End of story. Same here!
I used to loathe Glocks without even knowing why. It all started when I was 10, playing Counter-Strike, where they made Glocks as effective as a water gun. Fast forward 25 years, and I found myself diving into the history of Gaston Glock and his legendary creations. Intrigued by the design, trigger build and simplicity, I decided to give it a shot (pun intended) and bought my first Glock 17 Gen 3.
To say my aim was terrible would be an understatement. Meanwhile, my other handguns performed like champs. I couldn't help but blame everything but myself for my abysmal shooting. Then, I discovered the secret: Glocks demand a specific grip, like a picky eater with an exclusive diet. Once I embraced this unique hold, the transformation was magical.
Now, my Glock 17 is my favorite, and my Glock 19 Gen 3 has become my trusty everyday carry. From hating to loving, it's been a wild ride with these iconic firearms!
The fact that every time a new polymer pistol gets released we get a rash of "this is a glock killer" videos tells me that glock is still relevant.
As long as Glock remains a reliable option it will never be irrelevant.
Some like me, can't shoot Glocks accurately. But PPQ, HKs, Caniks, SIGs, HiPower, 1911s are far easier and better to shoot. Glock brick like grip and angle doest work for everyone. There are better choices out there.

Same here; Got my Gen 2 G17 in 94’ when I turned 21 and still have it. It still functions like the day I bought it.

Which doesn't stand out anymore when you can get an equally reliable gun for the same price with better ergos and a far better trigger, from basically any other company at this point. Not to mention Micro 9 pistols that are the peak of innovation right now that Glock still hasn't caught up to. Glocks are not dead from a sales POV, they are just becoming irrelevant from an innovative POV.

My Glock 43X is my favorite EDC!
Got one. Totally agree👍🏻
@@timothysmith6884 💯
I've got nicer range guns than my 43x, but I can shoot my 43x every bit as good as those guns
My 43x has taken over the EDC roll for me. Still love the 19 and the 26, but just can’t beat the slimmer 43x!
Is my favorite backup gun.
There's a reason why all the other Brands copied off of the Glocks 😊
First semi-auto centerfire pistol I bought was a G17 (Gen 1) in 1988. It has since been joined by a G26, G21 and G34. All four have been super reliable and accurate. They have been used for bowling pin shoots, PPC, IDPA, stake shoots, home defense, training classes and concealed carry. I just don't feel a need to replace my handguns with another brand.
Still rocking my Gen2 , 19 ❤
Gen X here. The PPQ took me away from all full sized glocks. But I still carry the glock. It use to be the 26 and now the 43x. What Glock did with the 43x is just a beautiful thing. Sigs don't have that familiarity with me. Shields are cool but again, just grew up with Glock. The Hellcat...I can't take the hellcat seriously simply because of the name. The name is ripped off from the dodge charger. Not to mention the technology of the dodge charger was ripped off from The Terminator SVT Cobra Mustang which no one seems to remember. We old people just remember the companies and brand names that revolutionized the tech and designs that changed the world and stubbornly stick with what we know.
My Glock 19X is always relevant. I never go out without my Glock 19X and my Spartan Blade.

Glock. The working man's American Express. Don't leave home without it.
In the early 2000’s I bought my first handgun. The guy at the counter convinced me to try a Springfield XD in 40. It jammed here and there and was alright otherwise. My friend brought his Glock 19 to the range one day-it felt better in my hand. It felt like it was better quality. I shot it better instantly.
I was instantly hooked, and was also amused at the fact that I could break it down with a punch and add any part that wore out all by myself… Even back then they were a myriad of sites where you could go and get any replacement part you needed for your Glock.
It was so simple and yet learning to shoot on it and master the trigger was such a complex joy. It wasn’t a gun, it wasn’t a handgun… It was a GLOCK. For me there really only has ever been Glocks, a few 1911s, and revolvers. Yes there might be another semi auto pistol that I like to shoot… But to own?… Why would I?
It jammed here and there" 😂😂 yeah right I've got six different xdms xds and thousands of rounds and none of them have ever jammed. I do have receive lots of videos on here of Glocks blowing up in people's hands
I have a 1911 govt in my truck everyday, but I keep a Glock 19 or 17 in my waistband. Glock is just an easy carry low maintenance pistol that go’s bang every time I pull the trigger.
My Glock 17 Gen2 that's 31 years old still goes bang with every press of the trigger and with all its original parts too.
My 3 Glocks said “NO”.
You have sold more Glocks than most people by showing how well they work on your channel!!
G19 is the number 1 seller for several months in a row. They just work.
Where are you getting those stats?

Who told you they just work? They have a trashy track record from the 90’ and 2000’s and had been sued by tons of agencies for jamming or shooting themselves.
Anyway never mind all that, any reason you felt the need to say that they “just work?”
Do you believe the various other guns don’t?
@@rudrashakti108 I’m no Glock fanboy, I have some but I have others I like much better, but there’s z reason that many police agencies and militaries around the world as well as many American police departments, federal agencies, and certain specialized military units choose Glock. And this is no longer the 90’s and 2000’s so they may look similar but they are not the same firearm from back then. And yes a lot of other guns don’t work as well as Glock or all those agencies would have selected otherwise.
@@rudrashakti108 I shoot quite often. I've never had any issue with any of my glocks.
Glock 23 Gen 4, Glock 17 Gen 4, Glock 43X...all alive and still shootin'! Thanks for your videos Hickok!
Glocks are still VERY relevant and great... they are the "tools" of the gun world. Nothing fancy nothing beautiful, they just go bang and have a very business-like and utilitarian work mood to them. They are the Toyotas of the gun world. Also it does make me feel old thinking that young people just now getting into firearms who were born post 2000 might see Glock as "the old guard." Glocks have become the "old dog" for Gen-Xers and are how 1911s were to the Greatest Generation.
I personally own a variety of handguns but Glocks are absolutely my favorites. The most recent one I purchased is a well worn G21, Gen 2 LEO trade in with round count probably in the tens of thousands. You can look at it and see that it was used and carried a lot.
It still functions 100%, and is extremely accurate.
My first firearm purchase was a Glock 17! Very comfortable to handle out the box.
I wish I had a range like yours. So peaceful!
Glock was my second. I bought a terrible Ruger P-85 first and wished I had bought the G-19 first instead of second.
Glocks are great- they don’t deviate from accuracy, simplicity, and certainly the designs we all know. The truth in my opinion is that gun ownership is subjective, from hand size, to recoil stability to larger or subcompact. I just purchased my first pistol after waiting 14 months to get my NYC CCW permit . I went into the gun shop to buy a glock 26. And despite wanting this gun for years, I walked out with a more expensive shadow systems cr920 war poet.( this gun is a glock 43 clone) This gun felt so much better to me than the 26 and the 365. Again, I firmly believe that not every gun is made equally for every man. If you know, then you know.
Purely subjective.
If you ever have to defend yourself with your Glock, the perp will be reminded of how relevant it still is.👍
Thanks for sharing the perspective. I'm kinda likin' this new format by the way. I of course still enjoy the other longer format ones. IMHO we can't have "too much" Hickok45. After some 50 years of buying and shooting other handguns I felt something was lacking, so a couple years ago I got my first Glock, the 19. It is a gem and lives up to its positive reputation. I do believe that like having a .22 rifle and handgun, everyone NEEDS at least one Glock.
After shooting IPSC Production Optics Division using M&Ps, P320 Legions and Shadow 2s, I'm now using a Glock 19 with a Holosun SCS. The Glock absolutely kicks ass! So, yes.
Thoughts on running a shadow compact 2 vs my trusty glock 17 gen 5, customized?
@@thomaswolf6507 Depends on how well it fits your hands. Totally individual IMHO.
Just got the 19X MOS. They actually have made several improvements since my Gen 3s.
During my competitive years, the Glocks I purchased and competed with performed as good or better than my most expensive custom guns. The difference was my custom stuff was 3,000 to 5,000 and Glock was under $400 and I rarely did anything to them. Competed with the Glocks right out of the box. The difference in cost paved the way for lots of practice. If someone doesn't like them, there are other choices which might fit them better.
I’ve only been into shooting seriously for three years.
My kids got together and got me a Glock 19.
It is the quintessential first handgun.
It’s basic. Easy to shoot. Easy to maintain. Extensive aftermarket support.
Yes, the stock trigger is like a DA revolver trigger.
But learn to manage a DA revolver, everything else is easy.
Are there better handguns? Yes the “perfect” Glock is probably the CZ P10. It’s essentially a Glock with a lighter, smoother trigger.
But at the end of the day. A Glock is a lot like a Swiss Army knife. Not necessarily the absolute best tool for the job…but it will indeed do the job.
kinda laughing as I'm saving for a CZ Shadow 2 Compact and haven't even heard of their P10
solution for glock triggers is simple, install a timney alpha, test it and confirm 0 light strikes, throw the old trigger in a trash bin or a parts pile

Now that I’ve got a couple thousand rounds thru the G19, it feels like the trigger has smoothed up and lightened a bit.
Or I’m just used to it. 😂
They are not dead but they sure have ALOT of competition now, compared to 10-15 years ago. They are not MY favorite gun to carry for self defense(except 43x/48), but the certainly work for many others.
Still carry my Glock 20 in the woods and when I'm fly fishing. Easy care and clean . 😂
Watching you sit there up in the "back" of what I think is the main range, I got to thinking how cool it'd be if you gave a kind of tour walking and talking about how you chose some of these targets and how they came into your life. Love the new channel idea. I'm a religious Sunday video watcher and really enjoy you pontificating on various subjects. Oh yeah, and the guns are cool too.

I like PSA dagger and appreciate where the engineering came from.
I've had one too many Glocks in my lifetime. I once had a G43 that had a serious trigger reset issue right out of the box. After the second range session, I handed it over to one of the guys at the gun shop for an inspection. He completely disassembled it, then cleaned it and put it back together. After that, it functioned flawlessly. I never did know what caused the problem.
Glock 26 and 19 are still in my rotation after 26 years of carrying. Accompanied by a S&W 642 or lcp max in the pocket.
Im a proud CZ man myself.
Our Security Teams were standardizing on Glocks, so I found a Glock 22 that was on consignment. It had never been fired by the previous owner, who passed away a couple of weeks after purchasing it. The price was great, and because I could use a drop-in 9mm barrel with proper magazines for the 9mm, it worked perfectly. If I want to go back to a .40 S&W all I need to do is swap out the barrel and use the proper magazines. That is quite versatile for a single platform.
Yes, love Glock. I have had many handguns since 1993 including Sigs, Ruger, Taurus S&W semi-autos but Glock are the best for me. Regarding revolvers, S&W revolvers are my favorite by far (I have owned Colt, Ruger and Taurus revolvers over the years). Having had many various handguns and sold many back to the dealer, I finally have settled on Glock & S&W for Semi-auto & revolvers.
Glock is like the worlds best Poker player ever. Sitting at the table holding onto their hand while everyone else folds. ✌
They simply run when you need them to. I'm a minimalist at heart too so any flashy new pistol brands aren't for me.
I have 4 carry pistols. 3 Sigs and a G19. The P365 and P238 are great for pocket carrying in low risk rural Michigan. The P365XL was going to replace the 19 but I still shoot the Glock better than any of the other pistols I own. I would love to hate my 19 but it has never given me a reason to do so. It’s my best option for church security work.
Couldn't agree more brother, they're still here and shoot as good as they did back "in the day." Actually better.. Long live the G19, I trust that one with my life. G19.5MOS with a can, light, and optic is my home defense pistol. There are lots of great "plastic fantastic" pistols these days, but Glock is still in the game. God bless you and yours, thanks for all the great content over the years!
I remember something Yeager would say on his videos about this topic when people would try to persuade why another pistol would be better in some niche, "You're trying really hard to *not* buy a Glock right now." And it always made me chuckle.
I bought a Glock a few months ago and it’s a fine gun.
I have had almost all of my training on various Glocks. For those I now train I choose Glocks. Though I own many different brands of handguns, picking up a Glock, as you stated, just feels like coming home. I don't foresee that changing for myself or many, many others.
We are in the golden age of quality guns. Sigs smith shadow systems etc are all quality guns. My duty gun is a Glock 17…..now if they just come out with a carbine.

I just bought a G20. Awesome as usual. I think they missed the boat with the 365/Hellcat style carry pistols, at least so far, but anything else, they still lead the pack!
Being somewhat disappointed with my sig, I did some research, and stumbled on CZ. I bought a CZ 75, and have been in love with this gun for going on 5 years. Thousands of rounds have only solidified my opinion. Any comments?
Here in Brazil one of the most popular handguns are the glocks(usually the glock 25 because of the restriction of the 9mm) and I think they be everywhere for many more years.
Brazilian PO here... This is true.
The choices of good reliable handguns is wide and deep these days . Glock is hard to beat for the money ! I own several and carried a G22C as my duty gun until I retired from KOM674 in 2012
There is something to be said about Glock reliability. I only own a Glock 20, swapped out the barrel with a KKM barrel, -3.0 Edge connector with a trigger polish job, & Talon grips. I've only shot about 5,000 rds. through it but has never malfunctioned. My P365 & P365XL have been sent back to the factory for repair 3 times - EACH! My Shield Plus has been sent back twice, my Kimber Micro 9 didn't last long before it had to be sent back. My 1st Gen P10C was sent back with firing pin breakages so they sent me back a new 2nd Gen P10C (now tied for my most reliable and best pistol along with the now twice fixed Shield Plus 4" Ported PC model), Ruger replaced my worn out LC9s Pro with a SR9C (now another trusty & reliable companion). They also had to fix my LCP2. I was at my outdoor range (just him & I) where his brand new Glock 19 had so many malfunctions that he too had to send it back to Glock for repair. But I do believe Glock has the least problems of all the gun manufacturers.
I still own the original Glock 17 that I bought in the early 80’s when it first hit the market and still shoot it and carry it. I’ve added about 40-50 more Glocks in one of my safes over the years. I love all my 1911’s to in my other safe.

@@KrisGerhardt English was my most hated class
At one time, my employer issued full sized S&W semi-auto pistols and off-duty I carried smaller single-stack version of the same gun. I had my choice of maybe three holsters for each. If you didn't like the feel of the trigger, you might someone to smooth or polish the stock parts and that was it.
Eventually they switched to Glock. Wow! Glock makes several versions of the trigger and you can mix and match parts to have a ridiculously heavy trigger or a very light trigger. There are a hundred people making holsters and also aftermarket trigger parts and assemblies, not to mention barrels, slides, magazines, etc.
Now I loved the S&Ws. They fit my hand well, I shot them well, and I liked the grip angle. When I was forced to a Glock, I hated it, especially the grip angle. BUT, after a few years and being forced to fire a couple thousand rounds through it, I've come around. If not a Glock fan boy, at least I'm a Glock defender.

What's your thoughts on Smith and Wesson model 629 44 magnum? Is it a good gun?
Also a Smith model 610 10mm?
Are these good bear protection options?
To each his own. My all time favorite is the 1911A1. Yep, .45 ACP. My house gun is a Ruger American full size .45, my every day carry is the Ruger LCP .380. However, I own a Glock 23 as well. I like the fact you can have one pistol that can fire 3 different types of ammunition, simply by changing the barrel! That’s truly innovation at its finest! I tinker with guns, simple things like sight replacements, part changes and trigger jobs and I have worked on one particular brand more than any other. No, I’m not going to say which one, but it’s the one that the take down levers has a tendency to snap off and the back strap safety is truly a hit or miss proposition! Love your content! Happy Fourth of July!

Prior to 2010 I was a hammer fire fan, sig 226 specifically. Then the Glock 19 changed my mine. Years later and I don’t even know how many glocks later lol.
Glocks are the best field guns. I’m a Sig guy too.
The Glock will cycle any ammunition you run. There's only a handful of handguns that will. I started with Glock but I'd recommend M&P for new shooters. I feel great with Glock and train with them. Hickok and I will always love the Glock23
The 23 is the only semi auto handgun i have ever had that failed me. Pin broke and the slide came off. Dead in the water.
I use Walther’s products, and I use 1911s. The reason is simply that I have arthritis in my trigger finger, so a light and smooth trigger pull is a requirement. I respect Glocks, but Glocks have a heavier trigger pull.
A Glock Performance Trigger would help that but Walther is exceptional as well!
