Upgrading the Living World Eco Habitat Cage I have had this cage for a couple of years now and what is so annoying is the ventilation holes are half way up the side so it restricts how high you can go with bedding etc. I don't know why they aren't at the top. Thank you I hope so.i had longer than I thought I would. Due to his age and his activity levels at the time I decided not to go down the option of trying to remove it, even if it could be done it would have been very risky and considering I've probably had 2 months with him I totally feel I made the right call. I just couldn't take the risk that he would die having an op when he was still so active back then. He's less active now but is up in the morning for about 30 mins to an hour and up for a few times during the day for a few mins.

@@Miley-e7e i think I talk about all that at the end and left links and prices in the description. Off the top of my head £90 for the basic cage and £130 if you build the platform on wheels for it to go on.
It's so pretty, I'm moving to Alaska next month and can't wait for the aurora lights later this year!

Awww, Moonbeam was such a cute and silly little guy! Also, unrelated, but 2022 you on hamster central is proving to be very, very helpful! Lol I am currently dealing with booklice in my hamster cage. Have been for a while, and I've been keeping Norbert's cage clean and dry and replacing/cleaning hideouts with bugs. But I didn't realize the severity of the problem until yesterday. I decided to do a deep clean just to get rid of the bottom layer of his bedding (to clean out poop/food.) But as I took the items in his cage out, booklice after booklice 🥲. So I took EVERYTHING out and threw away all bedding 😭. The funny thing was, all the booklice were in areas where I used paper bedding. Not in the areas where I used aspen wood or even carefresh. I think that bedding bag was definitely infested. Anywho, I vacuumed whatever was left in the cage, and wiped everything down with alcohol. I've found that this kills them on contact when I poured a little on a booklice. I let that dry out real good and now Norbert is in his sad, empty cage, with a few ceramic hides, his wheel, and toilet paper bedding. I was planning on freezing all the items and the bag of bedding that I have, and it's good to know you've have success with this! So anyways, thanks for reassuring me that the freezer method is gonna work.

Is the pets at home xx large big enough for my Syrian?
@@Jack57242 if that's the new one you are on about and it's the 57 x 95.3cm size then in theory it's the minimum size recommended but its only 41cm high so you might struggle a bit with fitting things in. If you can I would recommend a height of 50cm plus for a syrian.

I just found what I think are weevils in my hamster cage and I'm working out my game plan to get rid of them. What do you do if you didn't freeze your food and now have to, but then what do I feed my hamster while they are freezing? I bought a new bag so should I feed that while I freeze my other food. I haven't found how I got the bugs yet either
Oh no I'm so sorry. I would just take some out of the bag before you freeze the rest and just check what you put in the cage first. Not ideal but you can't starve your hammie..hope that helps.
@@CosmicHamsters thanks that's what I ended up doing. I wouldn't starve my hamster, don't worry! If you could help share some more advice that would be really appreciated! If not thats completely fine!!! My tank has a custom lid I built from wood and rodent mesh. I've been spraying it with 50/50 vinegar water and wiping it down. Do you have any advice on how I can save it? Ive been cleaning my tank with the same and keep finding more bugs inside it hours later. My hamster is in a spare bin cage while I try to clean his tanks.

My hamster chewed out of the paw hut so decided to get him the savic plaza (bit of a downgrade but still a good size) and he loves it + doesn't chew through!!

Thank you but It's kind of where I started though (Savic plaza was my 2nd cage) and you can do these up amazingly with a bit of thought. It's also what a lot of people have access to and can more readily afford, especially at £50-£55 and if more per stores stock them then more people will start to see what hamsters/other small animals need.

What is the square inch of the cage?
Off the top of my head I think it is 775sq inches, but you can get a slightly larger version now as well.
I hate how people make cages that are way too small for certain animals. I'm a big fish person, particularly betta fish. You can buy fishbowls that are the size of a basketball, a softball, a baseball. And people think it's fine because "it's just a fish." Most people wouldn't say it's "just a dog" or "just a cat", but plenty would say "it's just a fish." People will consistently treat animals smaller that cats horribly (bunnies, rodents, fish, birds) and think it's fine because they saw Elmo with a goldfish in a bowl. My Betta fish is named Mr. Bloops and I got him from someone who kept him in a bowl with no heater, filter, decorations of any kind, or even the proper food. He was really lethargic. I took him home and now he's happy with me 🥰
Oh gosh I hate how I see betta fish being sold in the pet stores and it's no wonder they don't end up with the proper care. They are such a beautiful fish too. So good to hear how you have given yours a good home and how they improved. Also, I like his name.
