The last and best of my Bass guitars for sale in Curitiba Brazil. Unfortunately I can't take it with me back to England where I bought it, thanks to the Housi Rebels hijacking cargo vessels, shipping prices are now extremely high, and now a third of a container would cost more than a full container 3 years ago!
Randall NBKing100 Repair revisited
zhlédnutí 35Před měsícem
Fully tested and biased to just below 80mV. Time will tell if these mis-matched used tubes I was given by the customer will hold out! P.S. going from EL34 to 6L6GC tubes, the bias intially was well out at 120mV! Now fine at 78mV just below Service manuals Spec.

Marshall 2550 Output Transformer Calculations
zhlédnutí 49Před měsícem
I looked up on the Internet the spec for a Marshall Silver Jubilee 2550 Output transformer and it said 3.3k but my calculation say that for two EL34 tubes in push-pull 3.4k would be a bit better value for the primary resistance. The new transformer was actually 250w (I read as 25w by mistake!) only needed to be 50w, so only problem is no 16 ohm tap. The plastic frame and end caps can be removed...

I made an error; I was looking at the wrong valves (preamp larger silk screen circle) instead of Power tubes (smaller silk screen). I removed the board and found my error; Pin 1s are connected, so the fault is elsewhere (will let you know).

Hello sir, love your videos. I am doing a similar project at the moment. My idea was using a function generator (icl8038) to modulate a pt2399 delay. The delay works fine but when i connect the icl8038 circuit it doesn't really do anything. I'm using the datasheet schematic for icl8038. Any ideas?
i have a mackie hui that has a slack belt do you know if this fader is the same ive heard its p&g or alps
@@yodamandala sorry I never heard of that Mackie, but all Alps motorised faders use the same belt as far as I'm aware.
@@delatronics3257 in 1999 The Mackie HUI was the very first DAW CONTROL that all mackie protocol is based on....only 11 left in europe and yes i love it..Fader 8 wont move i suspect its the motor actually and may have a look at replacing just the motor

@@matteuklol Just come back to UK and it is a nightmare here but better than Brazil ATM. I'm in survival mode now!
bro please where can we talk about a problem with my sx controller so I can send you a video
Wish you the best ,its terrible that this type of crime is going on and some places are better some not as you stated
Good luck to you mate! I think you may have something more interesting going on than an echo delay. Even though delay is me absolute favourite, I must say you could have these mods better defined and show it off as something quite unique as it already is just clean it up a bit. What do you think? I think you could be sitting on a gold mine mate! All the best..
bummer. Good luck on the next chapter of your life.
Hi and wellcome back from Brazil, may I introduce myself as the owner of a 724 that has the following issue: both solenoids not working. Zero current on solenoids terminals when function knob is in Pause and Run position.I have no clue how to verify the function electrical switch SW100 in spite of the fact that Ihave the maintenance manual but still need some guidance from specialist as you are, thank you in advance!
Beautiful Bass Mate! I love Warwick I have a Thumb Bass 5 I bought it in 1990 from Germany before they started Mass Productions Cool you live in Brazil 🇧🇷 Beautiful County/People
You've got the defective pcb board with drifting bias issues... and someone butchered the whole thing on top of the existing pcb fault by design...
😊❤❤
Hi, i think this is so cool, I am a calculator enthusiast too!
'P' for Pause and 'R' for run (Playback)
Sorry to hear that looks a fantastic machine and great sound
One of the most challenging times of my life ATM
Love to buy if you could send to the UK!
I have one of these that I bought to record guitar with. I only realised after attempting a recording that it was way too noisy to have in the same room to record with condensor mics. I'm sure it needs looking at because it's making quite a lot of michanical noise (scraping and wering) when running. Is that normal or is it meant to run pretty quite? thanks
My Tascam is very quiet without DBX. Probably scraping because of poor set up or your NAB adaptors are worn out or broken.
In my opinion tda1540 is the best sounding dac ever made out there. Bettere than 1541, ad1862, and things. Just finished repairing 2x cd104 ( one with cdm0) and one cd204. I should sell them, but i like them all! Btw where are you located?
Fantastic under appreciated players. I am in Brazil but moving back to my country England this month.
such a shame
Yes, this is the first time I stripped a healthy CD player, unfortunately I have no choice except to leave the machine in storage for who knows how long. It is listed for sale at a low price but since the economy is going into free fall here, people don't want to spend any money + Few people here really appreciate good hifi (my 8 track Tascam TSR-8 hasn't sold even at a rock bottom price, and O am a big fan of tape too)
People don’t have a clue. You need an oscilloscope and put cd players in service mode and adjust to spec. Done many years of repairs in cds, laserdisc and video, etc. these videos on here are a joke and don’t have a clue what they are doing. What you are doing is messing it up more to failure. What a joke.
I have personally set these up with an analogue scope but the vast majority of amateurs and tinkerers don't possess scopes. In my experience, as long as you keep away from the trimpots and just tweak the turntable height on a CDM1 mechanism; function can be restored without damage to the laser or mechanism. Not many technicians are available or are willing to repair these old machines, so they end up sitting in storage and out of use until a solution can be found in an experienced engineer with all the necessary equipment. You are obviously being critical of my video which is your perogative, perhaps you have some more technical videos on your channel to help people out; but my guess is that that info would go over most people's heads...Or maybe you are a troll!
Australia might be a candidate if you wish to continue Electronic repairs in safety and have ready access to components. It's a shame that people do not appreciate an honest, knowledgeable serviceman in Brazil!
They do appreciate me! They are shedding tears that I'm leaving! The political situation is becoming dire here and my life now is unsustainable now for my family and I. Australia was not a good place during the pandemic I remember. And whatever problems England has now are echoed over most of Europe thanks to Mr Shwab and friends!
Never seen an Amp with a Brazilian before. I would suggest New Zealand as a possible relocation but you would not get much of this kind of work here although good Valve Techs are rare in NZ. Hope all works out for you.
Thanks, I should be OK in the UK as after almost 36 years in the industry, I am widely known and I plan to advertise heavily on Facebook, Instagram etc. If I cannot stand what the UK has become, there's always Portugal or Spain (I speak the lingo), I am not money motivated so as long as I can sustain a basic living for myself and family, I will be content to go wherever God sends me!
Só do Brasil valeu
Hi, My GX 4000D run little bit slow. I change capacitor 2.5uf but still the same. What can I do? Please.
You need to download the schematics for this model. I think there is a trimpot adjustment. Also be sure your spindle bearings are clean an lubricated.
@@delatronics3257 Ok. No trimpot on power supply module.
@@user-tv3nu8zs3s Dismantle both reel tables, clean and lubricated. Check that drive belt is OK and not stretched.
1) when the customer was deceptive, you should never have touched his amp 2) why didnt you buy from rs or mouser ?
My word against his. I am in Brazil ATM Mouser charge $40 flat carriage..Never mind I'll be back in the UK in two weeks.
@@delatronics3257 exactly your the technician, your word counts for more :) ps you may not like what you find when you get here, the countries gone to s***. i'm looking at getting out my self. what area are you from in uk ?
@@garygranato9164 Yes I'm aware the country is a mess, but it's impossible to carry on in Brazil. I will be in Watford at first but then Cambridge.
@@delatronics3257 as someone who is a 'man on the ground' what do you think of my idea of moving to Uruguay/paraguay/argentina ?? any useful info is welcome ! regards gaz
@@garygranato9164 Argentina is a great country but economically speaking, very tough at present BUT the new president is trying to recouperate the economy after years of abuse, and he is a good guy. Uruguay is supposed to be OK but never been there personally. Paraguay has some very good areas but need to go there with some money to get the best and it's really hot there! Other good places are Chille, Puerto Rico, Panama, Parts of Mexico that are safe. I would have recommended the south of Brazil but until the government changes; definitely not.
maybe 're-wind' broken secondary of original transformer !
Put new transformer into Amplifier and it works on 8 ohms! Old transformer needs rewinding for certain, the guy I use to rewind the transformer buggered it up twice.
@@delatronics3257 you cant trust 90% of the locals to do anything correctly, you'd have been better off buying the magnet wire and having a go your self. i've been looking into moving to south america, and regarding construction work expats pay extra for europeans to do the work. they dont say good things about the locals. prepare to be shocked when you get back here.
maybe 6.12v peak to peak would be about 2V-RMS
X-ray tony has done some grate videos on measuring transformers
Perfect! I had a CD104 and had chatted with you years ago. Now you've revealed what the issues were! Does the CD304 have digital out?
No, all TDA1540 DACs don't support digital output (the TDA1541 does support it). I am coming back to the UK next month and will begin servicing when I have a premises in October.
Not a bad machine for it's age. recently got mine up and going (mostly).
I'll be back in the UK and servicing again by October if you need any assistance.
@@delatronics3257 I'm having trouble with the auto stop. How did you get the one you were working to work?
@@markkilley2683 I think you need to stick a thin metal strip onto the end of the tape (there is a sensor near the head).
@@delatronics3257 I think the auto stop has to do with the tension arm dropping down.
@@markkilley2683 you may be right; it is a few years since I worked on any Akai (perhaps I am confusing this with Revox).
The owner should pay you for abandoning the PCB altogether and hardwire the the amp using lots of binding posts. PCB's don't go well with valves it seems.
The client is a very important one and I pride myself on goid customer service even though it may cost me (as in this case). I agree about the binding posts, this design in particular is terrible!
@@delatronics3257 I would do the same. A costumer once brought in a VOX AC30 where the only parts present were the knobs and a fried power transformer and output transformer. I rewound the transformers and bought the rest of the components. It took several days to put together and I did not charge much for it but the customer went home happy and told everybody where they should bring their gear.
Thank you so much , this a great video. Would you know the numbers for the similar voltage regulators on Studiolive 24.4.2AI?
Sorry I don't remember and my service centre has closed in Brazil. If you search the original number (2SB14) for an equivalent; you will find one easily in a TO1 package (2N2953, 2SA474, 2SB440 etc).

Tascam 48 kills this machine
I used to have a 48OB as well which was a nice machine but with older electronics which were not as refined as the TSR-8, the 48 was also much heavier and had a rock solid build quality. Had a 34 as well at one point which was very nice but used a lot of plastic. Fostex BR8 have very good sound quality thanks to the modern electronics but their 8 track uses 1/4 inch tape and has lower build quality. Having worked on Akai, Teac, Fostex, Tascam, Revox and Ferrograph; I am definitely a fan of Tascam!
hope your settling back into uk life, full video would be better. nice one
