Interesting technique and yes it is probably safe. I think it is way overkill because your holding wood is so small. Its only the trigger area that is holding towards the end of the cut. Look at when the tree starts to go. The step height is so small, it cannot hold/prevent the barber chair if it were to go. The bore cut is what prevents the barber chair and a vertical tension really cant break the trigger until the last moment. You would be safer to set up a thicker hinge, get the bore through and pop the trigger quickly.

I dont see how that step is supposed to hinder it since it can just split right behind the step. It doesent have to split in the middle of the tree. Apart from that good preactices, if you use a short bar. I give this a 4/5 status. safe and accurate practices but the stump looks like an apprentice went at it with a dull beaver.

Worked on a mizer mill for 25 plus years nice mill, no doubt. They need to upgrade to 28 inch band wheels and counter weigh them by 15 percent the idelier wheel should weigh 15 percent less them install a 3 inch band 196 inches install two extra drive belts . There hp. Is more than fine. It saws to slow that is all the carriage is fine log turner toe board are fine. Then a person could put out 4500 ft a day .

The steps dont prevent the chair like people think. The severed heart fibers do. Chairs happen when the top is going and the stump still has enough connection to keep a portion of the tree standing. The buttlog cant reconcile so it delaminates at the transition between compression wood and tension wood. If all that transiton zone is servered before the top starts to go it cannot delaminate. Basically once the first borecut was made, just saw straight out the back in one pass.

In 22 year cutting Timber I busted more hickory trees than anything else I can honestly in my my opinion you're cutting out a very dangerous tree.... do an unexperienced Timber cutter I don't disagree the hinge is your friend but I didn't cut every tree with a hinge I cut bigger trees I have to get my Notch cut I will go to one side and take the tip of my bar and bore in until I seen it come out the Notch tell I seen sawdust coming out then I would place a stick in the face cut or the level cut of the notch walk the other side the using the tip of my bar I would start in and bore out the heart to the heart until I saw saddest flying out of the notch..... leaving 3 pie shapes two small ones one on each side of the notch then a bigger one in the back is to keep you from having to walk back around the tree did they show you're not cutting in further than you should then I make the final cut in the back then sometimes on my second cut I would just come on around with the chainsaw and get out of the way and pray without God we are nothing money can't buy happiness he cannot buy salvation because that was given by God's only begotten son but to accept that you have to open your heart and invite Jesus in and ask for forgiveness and then accept him as your savior.... pretty easy but it's so difficult to prepare for your eternal life the way that you would prepare for instance a beach house 3-day warning that the natural disasters going to strike they're going to do everything in their power to get there and board that house up that's only a material thing that will never leave here so please my friends prepare for your eternal life God bless hope everyone has a safe and happy day many more to come to you and yours remember the lost in your prayers please the less fortunate the ones that are need and our service men and women... remember me and my family as well please
