I have two of these, also an F3-HP, F3-P, F5 and F100, FM2, FE2 and F80. This camera wasn't just a flagship, it was the blueprint for all the SLRs and DSLRs that came after it from Nikon or any other camera maker for that matter. It was so advance for its time that the usual Mr Know It Alls didn't get it first. You can still see the design influence of the F4 on a D850. People have forgotten the history and pedigree of Nikon in all their haste to cherish Sony's and Fujis latest computer imaging device. Enjoy this marvel of enginerring.

Tu as déjà un problème avec ton levier d'ouverture. Normalement, il doit etre baissé dans cette position. C'est un souci récurrent, il faut séparer le boitier en deux et nettoyer les engrenages qui commande le mécanisme. PS : Les vidéos en français c'est mieux.

That's a high quality threading mechanism for a camera. Usually you see that design only in the "desktop" pro-sumer editing decks, not cameras except from this vintage. But this one isn't even high-8 format so that and the lens dates it to about '89 to '93 if I remember. When I repair hi-8 editing decks, it's a big relief to see that kind of mechanism if it's also a very good machine. That camera was rather high-end and I think you broke it down with good priorities. Usually if you scrap that kind of thing fast enough, there might be blood/ there will be blood if there's enough plug connectors unless you go too slowly. You KNOW the plastic has gotten very brittle when half the plug connectors break a wire when you are careful enough. The CCD's in those are almost certainly the kind that require many different voltages, and many custom chips just for that model series. That is the kind of lens that has 'slow' autofocus, maybe lousy autofocus, with slow zoom. But they are good lenses to use for other things!! I made a Frankenstein monster big-lens super 8 projector, I replaced it's lens with that (for higher quality optics and better zoom), added an overly powerful lamp and a powerful industrial (commercial) hair dryer fan (externally with a 5" flex duct) and it did 10 good projection gigs for me! Still works. All it took was a dremel cutter, hot glue and two very long wood screws. It looks like hell on the outside but the optics work surprisingly well.

Connection information: power: A = +15VDC P = +15 and -15 VDC return ('GND') N = -15VDC B = DC signal proportional to the roll rate U = AC signal proportional to the roll rate. Usually, if one has the patience to salvage parts from camcorders ... you get a LOT of small trimpots, some SMD CMOS 4000 stuff, and sometimes the viewfinder is a monitor in itself - most other stuff is extremely video specific and useless for anything else, or not worth the effort. The drum might be useful as a bearing - I saw some projects where people used these as low friction reels for coil winders for very thin wires....

Imagine repairing those for just a few quid, and the customer complaining it now doesn't quite work the way it did! "I won't my money back!"

Is the large amount of shielding foil and copper for Faraday cage or x-ray ? P.$. don't throw away the base plate with the tripod mount - could be very useful. 👏👏👏👏🇦🇺

Large battery is for the heater supply so maybe the 9V is converted to 45V for the B+.

I worked at an independent warranty repair center in 1980. We repaired those JVC cameras. As you can see, they were not fun to work on.

I must admit I do occasionally buy the odd vintage camcorder from time to time but they can be an absolute nightmare to strip down with 6 thousand screws Hidden all over the place. But the lenses come in handy and the ccd sensors can sometimes be quite cool. Nice video teardown as always 👍🏻
