      He can play coverage but will likely be asked to be more of a box safety. Hes not better deep than Mckinney or Bullard so playing that box safety role in base is going to be his best route to getting on the field.

      I mean he clearly wasn't just that in college, but I'm not sure I'd have him playing single high in the NFL. I'd trust Bullard more and potentially Williams as well back there. Could be a big nickel though in addition to a SS. Not sure we want a Markquese Bell situation at Dime LB haha

  • @sdn40
    @sdn40 Před 18 dny

    He's got an uphill battle. Other teams, along with the Packers have been chasing this type since Deone Buccanon had success with the Cardinals. The streets are littered with guys that didn't have the agility to succeed at that size. Aaron Rouse, Josh Jones, Tariq Carpenter. All high RAS scores aside from agility, and they couldn't get it done. Teams will find ways to isolate him on slot WR's and there is no way he can keep up. I wish him well, but hybrid more often than not means too small to play LB and too big to play Safety. Sean Richardson had some success in Capers system, but it was very limited before he got injured playing in the box at that size.

    • @aaiirssjoy
      @aaiirssjoy Před 18 dny

      Difference is that Kitan for sure plays smarter than Josh Jones did coming out. He’s more proactive in his coverage and has enough agility and footwork to transition with the receivers in their cuts as the film showed in Jake’s vid. He’s just not ever gonna be a high safety which is fine. I don’t think we will play him that much at LB either anyway after getting Cooper to pair with Quay while Hopper is a more coverage oriented backer too. I see him being a big nickel option against run heavy teams that will be the first to fill the alley ways on outside runs and condense the holes in inside runs while Evan Williams plays SS primarily. Bullard will likely be the starting nickel but Kitan will be the primary sub package guy in due time. He’s not that stiff of a player really.

    • @JakeSchyvinckNFL
      @JakeSchyvinckNFL Před 16 dny

      Nagy suggested the Dime LB possibility, but I don't think I'd go down that road with Oladapo. Let him be the SS that has duties defending the run in the box and cover TEs while working in robber/hole coverages. Nothing wrong with having him back there in a split field look either. He's a safety to me. Not a LB/S tweener. Now, if the coaching staff starts to mention him being that type, then I'll share in your concerns haha

    Jordan Morgan at left tackle & Zach Tom at right tackle. Rasheeed Walker swing tackle. Move Jenkins to center, Myers to left guard, Jacob Monk to right guard by seasons end. Go Pack Go!

  • @omergaudetjrpackers4life

    Damn I missed the episode, wanted to be with the live feed, damn it! Morgan needs to be good enough to be the starting left tackle. Walker as a swing tackle. That would work well for me in my books. Let Morgan develop with Rasheed starting at first. Unlike most I don't want to move Zach Tom from right tackle. Morgan & Tom tackle starters. Use Walker as swing tackle. Let Monk challenge Myers or move Jenkins to center my choice. Not too confident in Sean Rhyan being a quality starting right guard at the moment. Need competition at Right Guard with these young guys. Maybe Myers moves there? E Cooper needs to be the run stuffing specialist I've begged for the past 20 years now! The tape seems to show he has a propensity to excel in stopping the run game very well. I was delighted with this pick in particular. My favorite picks of this draft were him & Bullard. With a much stronger backend now I think he can focus on the run in this defense too! Can't wait to see this dude on the blitz as you said he looks like a huge impact play maker. Bullard another Georgia boy! Yet another pick I was delighted with in this 2024 draft class. Sure looks like a great compliment to play back there with Xavier. Backend should be strong! Maybe he's the answer in the slot position? Key role in today's NFL for sure that position. Can't wait to see these two! Now can our cornerbacks be better with these two behind them. I love the versatility he shows & the excellent speed he showed in the tape of him in college. MarShawn Lloyd would be my next favorite pick of this 2024 draft class. 3rd round value. He needs to protect the ball much better than he did in college. But coaching can fix that. Think u can score every time u touch the ball u try to make too much out of nothing at times. Jacobs suppose to be a work horse question how many touches will he get in this offense? He should be the number 2 back quickly but needs to block & catch the ball with consistency. But he is a very dynamic runner. Tape shows how explosive he can be & his break away speed. Tyron Hooper my least favorite selection. Packers seemed to be reaching too much here. He does seem to be pretty decent in pass coverage likely much better than Cooper would be. He was also a pre-draft visitor to Green Bay. Packers clocked him in the high 4.5s in the 40? Andy Herman did a show says he can't tackle. Don't need another Savage in this secondary! Evan Williams was another I think the Packers reached some on with this pick in the draft. However I like this guy allot more than I like Hooper pick. Some intangibles look better to me. Should fit in as a contributor in the new GB secondary. Versatile looks to have some upside. Jacob Monk reminds me of the Zach Tom pick. He looks like a guy could end up being solid. Sure pleased to see someone can play center & put some pressure on the inconsistent Myers. As I said above I am not a fan of moving Zach Tom from where he's starred at Right Tackle. Hoping Morgan good enough to start at Left Tackle & using Rasheed Walker as swing tackle. Let the rest of these young guys fight it out for right guard & pressure Myers to prove himself. For me Myers must step up in this contract year or its times for the Packers to cut their losses. As you said Tom the best lineman with Jenkins also very solid on this packers offensive line. Myers at center & right guard are the weakest links. Need at least 1-2 more quality starters. Kitan Oladapo looks solid enough pick for a 5th rounder. A good tackler what GB need most! Little undersized which is concerning but sounds like he is a very good coverage guy can help. Still I was very surprised Gutekunst drafted 3 safeties but not any CBs until the 7th round? Like Valentine but with Jaire Alexander under achieving past 2 seasons CB depth suspect! Hopefully with a strong back end now the CBs can focus & excel not having to do too much. Travis Glover at 6'6" 317lbs good size for a tackle. Needed depth with Yosh Nijman leaving. OK late pick that hopefully can help as a backup some next season or if anyone gets hurt. Michael Pratt 7th round looks like a fabulous value pick. He should be teams 3rd QB in 2024. Long as Tom Clements remains on this staff any QB could turn into a hall of famer for sure! CB Kalen King looks like another 7th round steal for the Packers with allot of potential upside. Last season may of been a disaster but looked damn good before that in his college career. Liked both of these last 2 picks allot. Once again I believe Gutekunst balled late in the draft! Go Pack Go!

      @JakeSchyvinckNFL Před 23 dny

      Always enjoy hearing your thoughts Omer! So if you're moving Elgton Jenkins to center, who plays left guard for you? I think the only way Kitan Oladapo (6'2", 216) would be undersized is if he's labeled a linebacker, which I don't see GB doing.

    • @omergaudetjrpackers4life
      @omergaudetjrpackers4life Před 23 dny

      @@JakeSchyvinckNFL As you said yourself last season GB had only two real quality starters on this O line. Those two Zach Tom & Elgton Jenkins. Rasheed Walker was pretty solid at left tackle. Myers at Center & RG the weakest links. By seasons end GB needs 4 quality starters! Expect Jordan to become solid starter at Left Tackle based on his first round selection. The hope of course is he can be as good as Zach Tom on the other side. Rasheed Walker played very well last season & looks to be an ideal swing tackle. Expect Rasheed Walker to fill in for those top two guys when need be. Hopefully Glover, Caleb Jones & Luke Tenuta can solidify the depth at tackle. Think you'd agree tackles & center are more essential roles over the guard positions. So I have very high hopes Morgan & Tom will be very good tackles. We know ElgtonJenkins is very solid on the inside. Why it makes sense to move him to center over the struggling Myers. Josh Myers I'd hope could then fill one the other two guard roles. Either at left guard in place of Jenkins or at right guard. The other guard position is up for grabs. One of the rookies, ufas or Sean Rhyan. Not too confident Rhyan is going to live up to his 3rd round selection or be that guy? However, if Monk could start at Guard or even better at Center that'd be a huge bonus! Even if GB remain weak at one Guard position they would be further ahead than 2023. Solidify center & at least one guard role then this line be allot damn better wouldn't it? If this team has 4 of 5 quality starters by season's end I'd be allot happier for damn sure. The O line even with only 2 solid starters last season remain elite pass blockers. What we want to see is some depth & solid run blocking. Especially with Jacobs & this promising kid Lloyd in the backfield starting this season. Sorry on Kitan Oladapo I got confused thinking he was one of the linebackers selected. But I've been hearing some very good feedback on this guy Kitan. Some saying he was an absolute late round steal. It's this Hooper guy they picked in the 3rd round I am very suspect about. From what I heard & seen it looks like they reached big time on this guy. Andy Herman at packaday said he can't tackle & his tape was very poor. That ain't inspiring any more confidence in him for me either! Those 2 second round picks & the running back are my favorite picks. Just praying Cooper can be the run stuffer I've been begging for so long! With such a strong backend now maybe he can focus on stopping the run too. Although Bullard looks ideal beside Xavier it be nice to have someone solid in the slot. Maybe he could fill that role & let one of those other two play at the back with Xavier? What would you think on that idea? Slot is such an essential role in today's NFL. I loved the show man as always. Wished I'd been with you live! No one I respect more than you on your thoughts & feedback on these guys. You didn't seemed to be too thrilled with the Hooper pick too from what I saw. You also seemed to love those 2nd round picks like me as well. Just praying Gutekunst did as well as the past two seasons! He did we all going to be very happy this season! Go Pack Go!

    Like the player, don’t like the pick. This looks like the packers organization is preparing to not pay both Tom and Walker. Morgan is one year younger than Walker with a similar pass blocking skill set. This feels like a lateral move by the organization that’s preparing for impending cap casualties.

    • @JakeSchyvinckNFL
      @JakeSchyvinckNFL Před 29 dny

      Perhaps! Maybe the idea with Morgan is to have him take over one of the tackle spots and for Tom to kick into center long term. Maybe he ends up at guard. That might not be the case, but I'm sure GB will do what they can for a best 5 or to continue to have surplus value at tackle.

    Not pleased to see GB spending draft capital at RB after paying Jacobs a boat load of cash! That said he was the 4th RB picked in the 2024 draft class. Looks to have allot of upside. Round 3 ideal time to find a premium RB in the draft exactly what the Packers did in 2024. Still don't like spending capital on RB with other needs & Jacobs getting the monster contract. That said I think the Packers did very well with this pick. Hope he can be the #1 RB back soon. I am not a big fan of Josh Jacobs. I could see the Packers walking away after only 1 season. So having some insurance in case Jacobs is a bust seems like a good move for this team. With Dillion & Wilson still in the fold this room should be very solid for the Packers in 2024. Go Pack Go!

    • @JakeSchyvinckNFL
      @JakeSchyvinckNFL Před 29 dny

      From what I've read, the Jacobs contract is essentially one year with incentives, and that full value of the deal might not end up happening. So, in case Jacobs doesn't find it this year, it's insurance like you said. If Lloyd cleans up ball security issues, he can be very good.

    • @omergaudetjrpackers4life
      @omergaudetjrpackers4life Před 29 dny

      @@JakeSchyvinckNFL Yes Gutey front loaded the contract. Very little guaranteed money after year one. Jacobs bet on himself and took the big number. Gutey left an exit door in case he looks like he did last season! If this guy can fix the ball security issues as you said he looks like a very nice pick. Mike Whale said in his review he often made mistakes late in carries trying to make something out of nothing. With good coaching that should change. Develop quickly he could end up RB1 by seasons end. Biggest question is can he catch the ball. What I've read so far is he didn't get much opportunity to do so in college. That will change with Matt you know. Now if only we can teach Matt to run the ball on 1st downs! Could be the best 1-2 backfield in football if Jacobs is as good as many say he is. Not sold yet me.

    This is another name I recall you speaking about allot predraft was this Javon Bullard. In today's NFL someone can play slot is crucial. A place GB been weak at for past few seasons. Although he seems to have versatility I believe GB seeked a specialist to play the slot position. This guy looks like great fit to do that. Another pick I really like by GB in this 2024 draft class. Love tape especially his closing ability. Be nice to see guys can close & tackle in this secondary! Another pick I really liked from this Packers 2024 draft class. BTW I really love that you point out not only the pros but also the cons with these guys. I sure love his closing speed but after Savage I want guys are very solid at making tackles! Go Pack Go!

    One of the names I recall you speaking about allot pre draft so I'm very pleased GB got him! ILB became a primary need when GB let Devondre Campbell walk during this off season. Great to see he shows strong tape defending the run. A run stuffer for GB such a huge need! One of the reasons I've liked McDuffie so much is he has done well with his run defense for GB. Tape looks marvelous! You got me very excited seeing & hearing your evaluation of this guy. You know how I've begged & pleaded for GB to get proved run stuffing specialist for years. I liked this pick when I saw it & now after seeing your review I'm pumped to see him on the field. Absolutely ecstatic with excitement & anticipation to see what Cooper can add to the D! Go Pack Go!

    GB could of had Graham Barton or others but once again surprised many of us with this pick. Left tackle is such an essential position & I think Brain Gutekunst looking for another Bakhtiari. That said Rasheed Walker was very solid at LT the past season & deserves more opportunity. Would of preferred a RG, center or CB myself but if Morgan pans out the pick be all right I think. Film looks pretty good Jakey! Thanks for another great video for us & your expert evaluation. Finally got some time to look at your reviews. Hope you doing all of these Packer draft picks. Looking forward to your commentary. Gonna look at other videos after watching this one. Overall I'm pleased with draft simply because they spent the capital on D as they should have. Little surprised more wasn't invested at corner? 3 safeties after signing McKinley is puzzling? A RB after signing Jacobs seems a little questionable. Although the new RB looks very good. Long as Royce Newman is on this team they didn't spend enough on the O line or at guard! Newman like the cat came back! 9 lives keeps making roster year after year but stinks again. ILB & RB picks look strong to me. Sure hope an improved run D is reflected with these changes! Go Pack Go!

    He’s a better fit at SS but he can play deep. The downhill tendency suits better there as he needs to work on being consistent in flattening his angles to the sideline on outside runs, and playing with a tad more depth working back diagonally for the deep routes in coverage. He is capable though with how he flips his hips with ease. I imagine with Quay and Cooper near him, he won’t have to worry about being the only main guy to stop runs towards the sideline anyway which will allow him to improve playing deep with more reps and focus on that. One thing is certain, he’s gonna really help us stop those explosive outside runs we were struggling with this past season. I think I noticed we got gashed on the outside the most - a bit disappointing considering we have power edge guys in Gary and Preston but makes sense when you consider our pretty bad safety play and Campbell losing a couple steps & Barry’s scheme. All signs are pointing to us having a much stronger run D. I’m excited. We will see if GB can get away with not having any true consistent run stuffing DT to anchor it all. I imagine that still hurts us in goal line situations though. It’s a give and take though so I think we will be better off either way.

    I love the addition of Lloyd to pair with Jacobs. We all saw how the offense struggled when Aaron Jones was out, missing his big play ability. Thoughts on Evan Williams? Was slightly iffy on the pick, but then watched his senior bowl performance and I think he’s gonna be good. They said he lacks a bit of route anticipation but he seemed sharp in the senior bowl with active feet. Hips aren’t that loose to run and carry vertical but that’s fine at SS where he can let his burst and physicality shine. I’m just glad he won’t be a liability in coverage after looking deeper.

I feel you leave Bradford at RG and ask Haynes to move to LG where he's needed since he is the superior pass blocker.
