  • The Green Bay Packers had a MASSIVE hole at safety to fill this offseason, and Georgia safety Javon Bullard will help them immediately as a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Bullard's versatility and assignment-oriented game will be important for the Packers defense.

This is another name I recall you speaking about allot predraft was this Javon Bullard.
In today's NFL someone can play slot is crucial. A place GB been weak at for past few seasons.
Although he seems to have versatility I believe GB seeked a specialist to play the slot position.
This guy looks like great fit to do that. Another pick I really like by GB in this 2024 draft class.
Love tape especially his closing ability. Be nice to see guys can close & tackle in this secondary!
Another pick I really liked from this Packers 2024 draft class.
BTW I really love that you point out not only the pros but also the cons with these guys.
I sure love his closing speed but after Savage I want guys are very solid at making tackles!
    Go Pack Go!

The #1 thing I evaluate is if the player is a high effort player, and Javon Bullard is that kind of player.

He’s a better fit at SS but he can play deep. The downhill tendency suits better there as he needs to work on being consistent in flattening his angles to the sideline on outside runs, and playing with a tad more depth working back diagonally for the deep routes in coverage. He is capable though with how he flips his hips with ease.
I imagine with Quay and Cooper near him, he won’t have to worry about being the only main guy to stop runs towards the sideline anyway which will allow him to improve playing deep with more reps and focus on that. One thing is certain, he’s gonna really help us stop those explosive outside runs we were struggling with this past season. I think I noticed we got gashed on the outside the most - a bit disappointing considering we have power edge guys in Gary and Preston but makes sense when you consider our pretty bad safety play and Campbell losing a couple steps & Barry’s scheme. All signs are pointing to us having a much stronger run D. I’m excited. We will see if GB can get away with not having any true consistent run stuffing DT to anchor it all. I imagine that still hurts us in goal line situations though. It’s a give and take though so I think we will be better off either way.

Yeah I think the angles and path consistency definitely needs to improve! I'm excited to see how he's deployed in Hafley's defense. Season can't get here fast enough!
