Welcome to the channel, I'm really glad you're here. My name is Ed. I have a Kubota B2601 compact tractor with several attachments. I also enjoy using my Husqvarna 455 Rancher chainsaw and like to weld with my Hobart Handler 140 MIG welder. I generally fix everything around the house and property myself when I can. There is always a project to do or a repair to make when you live in the country! Let’s learn and grow together. Thanks for watching!

I love all your helpful hints and ideas. Keep up the good work.
A good day's work Ed! Love the LogOX! So helpful on the lower back. Love your side-kick -LOL - Cheers!
Thanks Gord! Maybe I can train her to haul firewood! 🤣
@@MyClutteredGarage LOL. Hey having a little buddy to hang with is good enough. :)) So cute :) ( I mean that in a manly way) LOL
Huh, Ed, I had no idea about that strap, glad you explained it, what a great tip. Thanks for posting!!
Glad it was helpful!
On a painted surface on a classic your tie down points may still rub thru painted surfaces.
Love that bike... and good to know about the twist, I always wondered why they did that.
Excellent video, thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
I use those to make attachment points on my trailer. The top rail is 2x2 tube and there are no places for strap hooks.
A problem many of us who own and transport sub-compact and compact tractors have is that the machines are not manufactured with adequate tie-down fixtures. Aftermarket shackles and D-rings can get expensive and tedious to install, but these straps can make securing to axles, loaders, and other accessible areas a breeze to secure to. They are also light weight and easy to transport.
Thanks Ed that's what I was planning on. With the lower frame for my front dirt/snow blade I lost my tie down spots.
Great video Ed. Thanks for sharing. Those straps also come in different lengths too. Great if you need to grip around the Rim of a Trike to transport. You need the longer strap for the spoked rims. Dan 😊
My world has changed. 🤣
Great Tip and so Simple !

“Grapplelicious” Yeah Baby!
Ed, nice job with your setup. Some great wood to add to you pile to be seasoned. You should look into a 3 point hitch pallet fork setup for your 2601. You would be able to lift a full IBC tote of firewood on your 3 point hitch. There are a few guys with B2601's that had the same issue until they started lifting full totes on the rear of the tractor. Dan 😊
Thanks Dan. I’m looking into that indeed
Once i saw the trench being dug i knew this was a fail. Sure it's out but not worth that effort.
A very productive day, Ed. Good job
Yes it was! Thank you!
Oak will take approx 3 years to season before burning. You're getting a great head start.
Great job, Ed. Are your ash trees dying? The ash borer killed them here in New Hampshire. I just had four taken down and had four other trees dropped as well. I like the Log Ox. I think I'll get one for my upcoming 8 tree limbing and bucking project.
I think our ash is OK. You definitely will appreciate the log ox!
Good video, I cut some medium rounds for overnight burns in my insert.
I know what kind of wonderful feeling you get working on your land. I live on a 88 acres land. 35 acres are hay field cut by my neighbor. The rest is wooded land with trails and a forestry plan... for me. Yep, reduced taxes! I can't believe I get taxes reduction on land, equipment / supplies to live my dream... Stay safe! As a "white collar" guy, I watched numerous CZcams disaster videos about cutting trees, so I gain some knowledge through other's bad experience. Thanks!
We are living the dream! And yes, I’m learning all the time. Thank you for your comments!
Slow and steady wins the race👍🏼
Ed, I couldn't help but notice the red bandanna, are you a member of the New Jersey Cluttered Crips? When making your face cut, face the direction of the fall, dog into the tree and pivot the saw until your handle bar or gunning sights are inline with where you want it to go, as long as the tree is balanced and the wood is good it will go where you want it. Keep your back cut above the apex of your face an inch or two for a strong hinge and cut it the same distance on both sides as you cut towards the face.
Haha! Funny but I wore a red bandanna to the beach one day, and my cousin yelled at me. He was afraid that we were going to get attacked. I appreciate your comments about felling. I’m looking forward to learning more and more.
Poplar is fine to burn,we use it early in the season and again in spring. When its free use it!
Right! Thanks!
I have the log ox awesome video. It’s a great tool. It saves your back.👍
Yes it does!
@@MyClutteredGarage 👍
Nice set up!!!
Thank you!
I love my Log-X. Christmas present though I tried to be surprised. 😉
🤣🤣🤣
Hi Ed! Excellent video, great editing, establishing shots, b roll, and commentary! Not to mention the hard work of cutting down, limbing and splitting the logs. Well done, thanks for taking us along. Maybe look into a Hydraulic Shim Kit, for up-ing the pressure, I'm sure it'll lift the ibc tote then!
Or bend my loader! 🤣
@@MyClutteredGarage just pick up the load straight :)
In the summer heat, early in the day is definitely the time to work outside! Poplar is about junk as far as firewood is concerned. I’ve burned it, but it’s about the lowest BTU per cord hardwood species in the northeast. Like a sponge too. Very wet to start, then seems to take on water easily if exposed to weather. Rots fast too. I cut one this spring and just junked it in the woods. Decided it wasn’t worth it. As you were felling the tree, I noticed you made your first cut using the top of the bar. I try to avoid cutting like that because if the chain catches in the wood, it can actually thrust the saw back at you…fast. On the bottom of the bar, in the same situation the saw can get pulled away from the operator and the powerhead stop it against the trunk.
You make some great points. And believe it or not I used the top of the saw because I didn’t want to block the camera. Poor excuse, I know!🤦🏻♂️
Poplar is poor firewood. If you do burn it it needs to be perfect water content. Too dry it burns very fast and hot. To wet it cools your fire and builds up in chimney.
👀👀
Thanks for watching. 👀👀
Good job Ed 🤠🇺🇸
Thanks Curt!
Maybe don't fill the tote all the way...try 75%
How're the bugs that deep in the woods...mosquitos so big here in Ontario they'll fly away with ya
Not as bad as that but I used big spray, which I rarely do!
Love it...great as always
Thank you!
Was that a real snake crawling by ?
100%
Great Vid Ed. There is a way for you to lift a tote. I noticed Artillian offers a set of pallet forks that mount to a quick attach for the three point. The 2601 has enough lift capacity to lift a tote full of woodout back on the three point. Actually, you wont have to shuttle woodin the bucket and can save a step by taking the empty tote with you to the wood splitiing site, but a bucket full of wood would be a nice counter balance to the weight of the tote out back..
Great tips! That’s working smarter!
A couple of comments: your situational awareness was a bit off. At 12:21 a beautiful woman in dress and hat walk by and you completely ignored her! A true lumberjack would never do that. Is there a way to adapt an IBC tote to the 3 point and carry it out that way? They make carry-all’s and it might be something to look into. I adapted mine to use on both the loader and 3 point. Great video, love a good day in the woods.
Ha! I wondered who would be the first one to notice Ayn in the background. Yes, someone else mentioned the idea of getting three point pallet forks. I think that’s a good idea.
Just a thought, always take 2 saws with you to the woods, as my experience has been I always tend to pinch one saw. Bob
Right!
You mentioned you have Ash trees. You may want to keep in mind that you are at high risk for Emerald Ash Borer. Here is New Jersey's information on Emerald Ash Borer: www.nj.gov/agriculture/divisions/pi/prog/eabhomeowners.html
Great job Ed. Enjoued watching this
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Just a thought rolling around in my pea sized brain. If the three point lifting capacity is high enough, have you considered getting three point pallet forks and putting the wood totes in the rear? My L2501 can lift way more with the three point than the FEL.
In fact, I bet you could fill the tote nearly full, fill the bucket full of splits. Go drop the tote where you want to leave it, turn the tractor around and unload the bucket to top off the tote with no bending required!
You are absolutely correct, and I have considered it! 😄👍
@@MyClutteredGarage Nice! Plus who doesn’t need 1 more implement? Please don’t tell my wife I was right about something, she might start expecting it from me full time! LOL
