On this podcast there is always so much value that you can get out of each conversation. Taylor always brings someone on that really brings some good knowledge to the table and also gives real life examples of what life is in not only business, but with family and life in general. Running a business is hard but running a construction company is even harder. Having a work life balance is huge but as you said, it’s the legacy that you want to carry on generation after generation. I’m starting my own legacy with my own experiences and excavation business as well as being the first to be active duty military in my family and retire from it. I’ve learned one thing from my military experience and that’s just to continue to strive on and make shit happen! Keep killing it with the podcast and bringing awesome content!

I worked in construction for over 40 years. A lot of the trades are hurting for people for this exact reason. It is a rough hard job but if the trades go down nothing will be built. I loved what i did. Im retired now but i still miss it. I was a laborer for 20 years and a operator for 20.

When I graduated from high school I got $4.75 an hour to deliver furniture five and a half days a week. I had a class mate who got $18.00 an hour to run a stop sign and learn how to maintain and use heavy equipment. Yes during the season he would work ten hour days but anything over forty hours was time and a half and for about three months of the year he just worked at the shop for eight hours a day. When he turned 21 he could start working as an equipment operator and went to $28 an hour. I was delivering furniture and making $5.25 an hour. He had a career in construction and truck driving. I got my wife through college and stayed home to run the house and watch my kids. I was married for almost thirty years and had the kids we had and some we adopted while he had two divorces and three kids who hardly knew him. Except for the money I feel that I got the better deal and we did have what was needed to be comfortable. I will say that for a few years before I married I worked construction and traveled a lot and enjoyed it but I felt like the life and a family wouldn’t mix well.

Not a physical job but mentally draining and makes 3 times what I do.. and my back is gone from demo ,lifting, digging, attic crawling ext

That guy on the video was riding on the back of what look to be a road surfacing machine which means he's breathing in tar, is extremely hot and proned, to days off to weather, which can kill a young guy who might not budget right..

You tell your kids the truth if you don't want to get hurt like your dad get an office job .let somebody tell me I'm not lying.

Hey Guys. Hands down the best podcast I have heard! I work full time as a firefighter and have run a excavation/septic business since 1999. Your points were spot on. I wondered if I was in the same class at con-expo this year about grade control as well? I ended up with the mc-mobile system as well and have been seeing the benefits. It’s great to hear from the small guys making it happen. I only have 2 part time employees as well and I always wonder when I see these big companies with all these guys standing around how they make money? Anyway excellent work guys. Would love to hear more! Thank’s Mike from COLORADO
