Gila Monster Outdoors has a goal to bring every hunter's dream of having their experience filmed to life. What started as a small group filming their own hunts has turned into something much more. We strive to make our videos as raw and real as possible, whether we tag out successfully or not. To us, being behind the camera on someone else's hunt is just as enjoyable as having the tag. Our mission statement is to capture the joy, hardships, and reality behind hunting and release it for our viewers.
Gila Monster Outdoors started from an idea and has grown beyond the expectations that we originally envisioned. The organization is made up of three lifelong friends who thrive in outdoor adventure. Each one of them has different experience and passions for the outdoors. All of our content is filmed, edited, and produced in our own studio. We are proud to be a small group from New Mexico that produces our own content that our viewers can learn from and enjoy!

New Mexico Archery Coues Deer - DOS COUES
This film is all about two lifelong friends chasing coues deer in New Mexico for the first time. Hunting coues has become very popular in recent years, so we decided to hop on the bandwagon. We knew that chasing these bucks with our bows was going to be tough, but thankfully we had been in this unit before and had a good idea on where they would be.
After a few days of scouting, we located a buck for opening day. However, things changed when we saw three nice bucks a few ridges over. This would be the group that Gaven would stalk and punch his tag on. It felt great to get a nice buck on opening day, but we still had one more tag to fill.
The next couple of days were rough. We still got into coues bucks, but we had our stalking attempts foiled by uncontrollable events. High winds, border patrol, and illegal immigrants made the rest of this hunt tough. Not to mention, the hunting pressure had increased as the hunt went on.
On day 4, Nick spotted two nice bucks in a valley that were rutting hard. He moved in, but they pushed their does into a bedding area and we lost sight of them. He never gave up, and moved in on them. After a few hours of moving through thick brush, he stumbled upon his buck and made a perfect shot.
We did not get our shots on video, but sometimes that’s the way it goes when you film hunts. After filming for other hunters all year, we wanted to enjoy chasing these bucks and worry less about our camera gear.
After this hunt, we definitely have the coues bug. Thankfully, we drew this hunt again and have another shot at chasing these awesome bucks!
We hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching. And like always, leave a like and let us know what you thought about the film. And if you enjoy our content, be sure to subscribe to not miss out on upcoming videos!

New Mexico Mule Deer - DOUBLE DOWN
zhlédnutí 866Před 2 měsíci
In this video, we set off to film a deer hunt for Gaven’s younger brother, Ethan, and his cousin, Wyatt, who was paralyzed from the waist down a few years ago. This meant that the hunt itself was going to be a great challenge. It’s hard enough finding a good mature mule deer, but we knew we had our work cut out for us to get Wyatt in position for a shot. We found a good buck early in the day, an...
New Mexico Barbary Sheep - SHEEP FEVER
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 3 měsíci
This season was a year of firsts for Gaven's younger brother Aaron. After harvesting his first bull elk in October, he was looking forward to hunting Barbary Sheep for the first time. The tag that he drew just happened to be an area that both Gaven and Nick had experience with. After setting out to scout a few days prior to the hunt and locating a big ram, the chase was on. Barbary sheep huntin...
New Mexico Elk - HERD BULL

This hunt was high on the priority list for Gila Monster Outdoors. After having two unsuccessful elk hunts in years prior, Gaven was willing to do whatever it took to get his younger brother, Ethan, his first big game harvest. After spending weeks on the archery elk hunts, we did not have much time to scout this unit for elk. Opening day was a slow day and hardly any game was seen. The team had...

Way to go guys! Some nice ones
Thank you!!!
You boys are killing it! Great video as always!
Thanks Jacob. Couldn’t have found those nice bucks if we didn’t have your spotting scope! You played a big role in this hunt!
@gilamonsteroutdoors lol, no you boys actually use it to find things. It's a paperweight in my house for too much of the year😂
Legit!!! Congrats on some awesome bucks! They're not easy.
Thank you! It was a tough hunt. I think that’s what makes it so much fun. Thanks for watching!
Great bucks my dudes I chase them as well southern AZ close to the border 👌🏽👌🏽💪🏽
Thank you. They’re fun to hunt. Would love to chase them in AZ next year! Thanks for watching!
Nice work fellas!
Thank you for watching!
THOSE COUES DEER GUYS ARE LEGENDARY
Big coues guys over here for sure!
Awesome bucks! You guys from las cruces?
Thank you! And yes, we’re all from Las Cruces!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors nice man! From the silver city area, really enjoy your videos!
@justindiaz6545 not too far from us! We ought to link up for a hunt soon! Thanks for the support!
Great video
Thanks for subscribing and watching! We greatly appreciate it!
Solid bucks guys, good stuff.
Thank you for watching!
Fair game
Its a shame that we had an antler only tag...
Congrats came from TikTok
Thank you! We appreciate you taking the time to watch our videos 👍
We should definitely get together for a southern nm hunt!
We would always be down to link up for a hunt! Thanks for watching 👍
The terrain generally looks like Southern Nevada, maybe a little flatter in this video. We’re having trouble feeding our native wildlife, and you guys got exotics running around. Kinda blows my mind.
It’s pretty rough for the wildlife in some of these desert units. These oryx in this area survive off of the nearby cattle tanks. It also helps that they can defend themselves from mountain lions!
I drew my WSMR tag this year and I'm prepping for the hunt. Curious what rifle and bullet you used on this hunt? If you don't mind sharing that info.
I used a 7mm rem mag on this hunt paired with a Hornady Superformance 162 grain bullet. I highly recommend using a different type of ammunition!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors Thank you for the reply! I generally hunt with the Barnes TTSX in a 7mm Rem Mag -- trying to find out what works best to bring these beasts down.
I was lucky enough to draw my barbary sheep tag this year after waiting 15 years. I received a tag for unit 29 and 30 for January of 2025. Any advice or area i show check out?
Thanks for watching. I took this sheep on the same January hunt you have. The mountainous areas are great, but they can wear you down. Spend a lot of time behind the glass and if you don’t see rams in a group or around a group, try to locate a new group. They could be solo or grouped up as well. We released another sheep video this year where we took a 26” ram. That video is titled “Sheep Fever” if you want to give it a watch. Both units hold sheep, they just offer different hunting topography!
Congrats on your success! Hope you guys got lucky and drew some good tags this year! (I got first rifle elk, woohoo!)
That’s awesome, it’ll be a great hunt for sure. We pulled some good tags this year, so we will have some good videos lined up for next year!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors Great to hear! Thanks for putting out some great content!
@BigJohn505 we appreciate it! Thank you for watching!
Nice shot. I am not sure I can be patient looking for a big sheep come February 2025.
We are hoping you get a toad of a sheep!
Great Video! I hope you guys had success in this years draw. Do you have any advice on locating bucks? I have never even had a chance to see one on my previous hunts! I've hiked a lot and just seem to find alot of Does!
Thanks for watching. It depends on the hunt. Early seasons can be great for hunting around water. This hunt was during the rut, and if you’re finding does the bucks are usually with them or nearby. Any other time usually involves a lot of glassing in areas with good bedding spots and feed or water nearby. We find it best to get to vantage points early in the morning and late in the evenings to spot them as they’re moving!
frog : oh shit..
Doesn't look like a black bear.
Cinnamon coat. Pretty common here in New Mexico!
When he asked, are you steady...obviously not talking to the cameraman who didn't even remotely come close to getting the killshot on video lol
It happens. Sometimes we get caught in the moment, especially when its family or friends. We are constantly working to improve our videos, and getting better shot film is at the top of our list this season!
memories never die
What a cool hunt! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Wow! That’s a nice one
Nice sheep! Great video, keep em coming!
Thank you for watching!
this must BE HIGH FENCE
That’s what they want you to think. They don’t like when we get big sheep on the public…
What sight are you using
The Black Gold Ascent Verdict 5 pin sight.
Would have been a much better video without the soundtrack.Overshadowing the other sound and the narrations
We lost some audio due to a mic going out during the hunt. We covered with a soundtrack because of that reason. We appreciate the input. Thanks for watching.
Amazing hunt once again, glad you guys have your own style of hunting and filming. Sucks that we lost audio majority of the hunt but way to make something out of it
Music does not add anything to this video, it is louder than when you are whispering and so understanding what you are saying is impossible, otherwise a very memorable hunt.
We had a camera malfunction during the hunt so the clips of talking are covered with ambient music due to the loss of sound. Thank you for your input.
Awesome hunt! Awesome filming!
Can’t wait to get you guys on the channel soon!
What a hunt!
It was a blast. Hopefully we get to do it again this year!
Where was your oryx? I have an off range tag next month
We don’t really like to share spots over the internet. Other groups have gotten some bad feedback from that due to ruining other hunters spots. If you’d like to talk more on Oryx. Feel free to reach out to us on any of our social media platforms!
Poor Man’s sheep. WTF. I must be poorer than poor.
That’s what this sheep is called. Realistically, compared to every other sheep, it is the cheapest in price. However, if you’re hunting them in Texas on private it can be an expensive hunt. But in New Mexico, the draw is fairly cheap. We just thought it was a cool name for the video!
So what’s the deal with the supressor?
Since they’re legal to hunt with in New Mexico, they are nice to use because the gun shot isn’t so loud. And in the event that you need a follow up shot, you’re more likely to have a better chance with a suppressor. It wasn’t really needed, but we didn’t want to redial the rifle in since we had it in from the beginning!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors ok. I just don’t want to give the government any more info than I already do.
Good job buddy! I know exactly where you were, haha
Thanks for watching! It’s a pretty rugged area for sure, but that canyon is very obvious!
4 point.
Nice Job. I hope to get picked for one of these hunts someday. As a resident of NM I still can't believe how hard it has been to get picked for Barbary.
Thank you for watching. They sure are a blast to hunt, but drawing can be difficult sometimes. They have increased tag numbers this past year, so hopefully it increases your chances and you pull a good tag!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors I found out yesterday that I got picked for Units 29/30 for this bucket list hunt for this old man! Do you have any tips?
@kevzzz1186 heck yeah! The best piece of advice I’ll give you is don’t sleep on the 29 area of the units. 30 is full of big mountains and good sheep, but those mesa and hill areas in 29 hold some good ones too. You can cover more country in 29 and find a good sheep!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors Thank you for the sound advise. Best of luck...
What a shot man congrats that’s a stud
Thank you! A good shot and a nice buck for this youth hunters first deer!
Takes a very sick mind to look at something like that and then kill it. Not for food but for fun. Bizarre.
Agreed
That’s exactly what we do, hunt for food. Wild game meat is as healthy as it gets, pure organic food. It feeds our family and prevents us from buying processed meats!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors garbage
Nice video! Wind can be hard to account for.
Thank you for watching. Battling the wind is tough, especially when your scope has no windage marks. But thankfully the second shot landed!
Impressive you did all that by yourself! My buddy and I will be down in 32,36,37 in a few weeks chasing them! If ya got any connections with helping us seal the deal we are open to them!
It was tough, but not impossible. We will try to reach out and get some intel for you. Hit us up on Instagram or Facebook and we can share some areas!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors sweet will do:)
Wow I thought that was a ram from that distance! My Buddy and I have units 32,36,37 here in a few weeks Dec 15-21
Thanks for watching! It was hard to identify them since we never had hunted sheep before, I think we were just excited to have the opportunity to hunt them! Good luck on your hunt!
Congrats on a nice sheep! I'm hoping to add one of those to the freezer this year.
Thank you for watching! Good luck on your hunt. Let us know how it goes!
Good job! Caught yourself a case of Barbary fever.
Thank you! That fever is real, can’t wait to chase them again soon!
Nice footage! What unit was this?
Right on brother. Awesome video.
Thank you! 👍
Son hermosos en su libertad❤
Shoot the satellite
Would have loved to, sadly we were scouting right before the muzzleloader opener in this video!
@@gilamonsteroutdoors ah
Slammed a dink of a sheep! Good job guys
Thanks for watching! Didn’t see too many rams but we wanted to fill the freezer. Next time we will definitely be holding out for big rams!
