Thank you!
I want to see the worse player win for the lulz. Give me the poker player who gets it in bad and gets there on a 2-outer. Give me the YGO player who ignores every possible bluff attempt where they should be reconsidering and just sacks the pants off their opponent in the finals. Give me the Chris Moneymaker effect in as many possible fields of competition to show anyone truly can win, and give me nothing but devastation for those who craft their game to try and eliminate all possible variance (e.g. competitive Smash as run by its grassroots community.) That said, this was a great video showing your points well.
Jamie Gold winning shows anybody can win LOL. Thank you for the comment ❤
This video is insane.
Thank you friend! Glad you enjoyed it ❤
This video needs a loud warning in the title
Loud as fuck.
This was very good especially for the national season
Just in time for nats 😉
Just like Pegasus
I always pack the eye with me to tournaments
Excellent video truly a masterpiece
Glad you enjoyed it!
This video should become mandatory for anyone trying to be good, specially in time wizard formats
LOL I'm sure everybody can benefit from it to some extent. Thank you for the comment!
Could you make a video about the popular opinion that heroes can’t win tournaments despite their many tops because they have a consistently low ceiling? On one hand it makes sense to me but on the other hand it doesn’t sound quite right. If they’re getting tops then clearly they can win games, it’s not like semi-finals or finals become a different game.
I dont think that would be a popular video. Every deck has a percentage chance to win, some are lower than others. Heroes are not on the same level as the S tier decks in the format so its less likely for them to win but it's always possible. A lack of good luck, having bad luck, and having a worse deck has all played a part in their lack of wins in large tournaments. They have won smaller local tournaments before and I'm sure they'll eventually win a large tournament if people keep playing them. Be mindful of who you listen to LOL "Advice you get from [regular players] will nearly always be wrong, oversimplified, and unhelpful."
@@10footD unfortunately the video didn’t tell me what to do if I get advice from CZcamsrs so I have no idea what to do now 🤷♂️
@@IndexInvestingWithCole rip
Actually insanely helpful, I do this sometimes but you yelling at me to do it all the time will be the difference between winning more and not <3
I LOVE YELLING. DO IT ALL THE TIME YES GOOD JOB
I really liked what you said about tilting. A big Pokémon CZcamsr had outplayed his opponent in a Smogon tournament for about 40 turns. Then lost due to a 10% ice beam freeze. He said “GG” and the comment section was livid and told him to never say GG again in that situation. It struck me as odd that people would willingly play a high variance game like Pokemon but variance isn’t allowed
Variance makes the game more unpredictable which also adds an extra layer of fun and excitement
sometimes i bluff thinking but it always seems dubiously legal.
There is no rule against thinking
It's not illegal. People who tell you otherwise are misrepresenting tournament policy which is explicitly against the rules.
I know I’m exaggerating slightly but man I gave up on yugioh and this video was so genius I’m diving back in. Possibly the best theory video I’ve ever seen on yugioh
Glad you enjoyed it! The Edison community has some great members. Edisonformat.net and .com are both good starting resources
Great video, well said👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😃
Hey, this was a great video !!! Very insightful and I love the breakdown of the super simplified game state with Caius, really got me thinking! Definitely gonna subscribe for more :)
Thank you so much! I appreciate it! Funnily enough I spent the most time working on that spot in the whole video. At first I recorded a detailed explanation and made graphics on why you're ALWAYS supposed to target the backrow there but when I did the math with different variable values to prove it (e.g. opponent won't set their spells + opponent won't set dustshoot to bluff gorz/keep possible gorz topdeck live, opponent won't misplay by setting brain control + they also play other possible chainable backrows, they do play book + won't set spells, etc.) there were some spots where it's better to target the monster and also the percentage edge for targeting backrow wasn't as large as I thought in some other spots. Then I went down a rabbit hole on "because there's more spots where the backrow is better, you should target the backrow" but then I realized I was spending several minutes working through that which is not possible in a timed event. That spot is deceptively complex with just two possible caius targets, I'm glad I left that part in LOL
Amazing video, well done!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Too bad in the current format when the opponent sets a monster, it's ash blossom 99% of the time.
I make make to card count my opponent deck
This video is 15 years late lmao. This ain't applicable in the current mess people call yugioh.
Absolutely incredible video
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it 😃
Very funny and insightful commentary
Glad you enjoyed it!
Did you just admit, on video, to taking actions to influence your opponent's plays? I'm calling the Yugioh police.
I sure did and will continue to do so since that is part of the game. What isn't allowed is promising to do certain actions if they give you info. For instance "I'll scoop if you show honest", they show honest, and you Mind Crush honest is against the rules but bluff thinking is more than fine.
@@10footD That part of the tournament rules is good, I just don't like the opposite scenario where you reveal cards you have to your opponent being penalized. My terrible joke aside, this was a great video. I'm going to share it with as many people as I can.
Hey, just want to praise the video. Most of the videos that I've watched about yugioh and maths are borderline clickbait, or pretty deterministic. I really, really liked your approach and tone.
Thank you! It's hard to talk about math and be engaging, I spent the most time on that section re-writing and revising. A lot of times people will make a lucky play and parade themselves as an expert after it works out. Some of the footage I thought of using ended up not being as guaranteed as I thought it was in the moment.
awesome video, thank you <3 I may have quit yugioh but i cant miss out on your gems
Thank you thank you! I'll get this channel transitioned to a generic gaming channel ASAP for you
This was SO GOOD 🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad I got your approval 👍
As a Poker Dealer at a casino and a avid player of Edison this video goes hard
Thank you so much! I bet you love it when you get blamed for other people's misplays/misfortune. "Can you believe this dealer really dealt those cards???" I'm sure you have tons of wild stories LMAO
Even though I don't play Yugioh, (anymore) I really enjoy watching videos about how to play and build better decks, because most of the wisdom is transferable to Magic the Gathering with a bit of math adjusting. I really need to up my bluff game, but I only play burn, so if I'm bluffing, I'm dead.
This is the best video ever
Thank you for the compliment!
This video cold.
Thank you! I try my best 🥶
I love the energy in the video, an absolut joy to watch
Thank you! I try to be entertaining LOL
Yeah this was me back between 2015-2016. I was a huge Fluffal/Frightfur player and my friends knew it. Because that deck was focused on board breaking and OTKing going second, they'd usually opt for me to go first during our matches. I knew this would be the case so I specifically designed my deck differently to go first. My end boards were usually 3 Frightfur Sabretooths, that couldn't be destroyed by battle or card effects and one Frightfur Sheep which resurrected itself upon destruction. Then I'd set a couple of backrow. The main backrow I'd have set was Frightfur March. It's a counter trap that negates a card that targets a Frightfur fusion monster and allows you to special summon another fusion monster. This was a huge deal in our friend group because it caught a lot of people off guard. Back then Targeting was the only sure way to get rid of monsters that couldn't really be destroyed. So Frightfur March was a perfect counter to boss monsters such as Kozmo Dark Destroyer and Cyber Dragon Infinity. Eventually my friends caught on to my ploy and started running backrow removal like Twin Twisters to destroy my Frightfur Marches before dealing with my monsters. To counter that, I started setting things like Toy Vendor and Polymerization. Which threw them off even moreso because every single game they had to think about how to attack my board. If they hit the backrow, they might destroy my Frightfur Marches but they also might hit a couple of Toy Vendors, giving me even more advantage to end the duel the next tuen. If they go straight for my monsters, they might trigger the Frightur Marches and lose all their advantage for nothing. Giving me more board presence and a higher chance of winning. It was a very fun time playing mind games back then, I became known as the guy who'd set a Polymerization just because, even though it didn't make logical sense because I risked losing the card. Now days I'm too gung-ho with my approach. I just full send and hope for the best.
great vid
Thank you! I spent a lot of time on it, glad to see others enjoy it 😃
your voice sopunds a awful lot like the youtuber woohoojin
Maybe I am woohoojin? This will be a valorant channel next month btw
I dont even play yugioh but this is all applicable to other card games
Definitely! I find the tilt control stuff to also be useful in other types of games and everyday life too. Bad teammates for instance? It should be an expectation I'll sometimes get bad teammates.
back in da days in 2005-2010 was bluffing/mind gaming a important part in ygo.
Great video! I didn’t learn a lot new, per se, but you gave a name and face to a lot of concepts I struggled to figure out on my own for years. To anyone watching: this guy knows his stuff! Just remember that if you plan to play in paper at all, do not make a habit of pulling up deck lists or using hyper geometric calculators leading up to these events. Get used to working these out in your head as much as possible. For online tournaments absolutely use these tips.
LOL in person you arent allowed to take notes, I'm sure they'll allow you to pull out a laptop to look up everything you need. Online you can do it quickly on the side so you should definitely take advantage of that. I have done probability comparisons in person multiple times to decide on a successful play 😃
Still I can’t scratch my head ob how always the same people in yugioh top
Luck and skill are both needed. Some people dedicate an unhealthy amount of time towards the game to get an edge
great video really well made, 10/10 would recommend.
Thank you thank you! I'm glad to see such a positive reception ❤
great video
Thank you!
this video rules
So do you 😃 Thank you for the comment!
Nowadays if you pretend to think for a few seconds just to bluff, your opponent accuses you of slow play...
why would you attack armed wing over gale? and how would sirocco win in case of attacking? I dont understand
This is the iron man infinite tutorial for edison I think
Thank you! I definitely had an edge over others when everybody was getting started at the same time. Glad you enjoyed and learned something 😃
Lmao love the yelling and exuberance you in the vid
Shit gets exciting sometimes LMAO
Great video, should have added that its talking mostly about Edison because i assumed that its modern Yu-Gi-Oh. Still, some of the things said do still apply to it. I would love to see you give modern Yu-Gi-Oh a fair shot(maybe later tho, the current format low key blows)
If it said Edison in the title it would’ve had a MUCH smaller audience. He’s smart to make it more broad
I'm smart as fuck what can I say. Humble as fuck too
@@SnackMuay obviously that's why he did that
