Are Glocks Still Relevant?!!
Stop data brokers from exposing your personal information. Go to my sponsor aura.com/doctortactical for a 14-day free trial and see how much of yours is being sold.
In a world where high-end handguns are outpacing "Glock Perfection" with significantly higher quality, and more comparable handguns in quality to the Glock are considerably less expensive, is there really a reason for one to consider purchasing a Glock? In other words, are Glocks still relevant, today? This is the question that DoctorTactical tackles in this video. Please let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

    Not relevant at all. Complete garbage made possible only because of expert marketing. Gluuck himself said it in court that it only cost him $64 and change to make one. If LE Agencies were not gagged by non disclosure clauses in their sales contracts, it would have been discovered decades ago, that they are plagued with just as many problems as the 320. If they were worthy of a place in history, Gluuck wouldn't tell LE Agencies that their pistols need to be replaced after only a five year duty period. Gluuck could never be relevant. No firearm developed by a yard chair manufacturer could be.

    Are Glocks Still Relevant?!! Outdated but still relevant. Any gun that still does what it was designed to do is still relevant. But there are better options on the market. We are seeing a resurgence in revolvers that are outdated but still relevant also especially for pocket carry. There are benefits to revolvers that autos don't have especially reliability and given a real world five second gunfight capacity is not important since no one is going to get through a mag or cylinder let alone have time to reload but reloads are carried anyway just in case of that less than one percent chance of multiple threats and a longer gunfight. By the same token it can be considered that autoloader single stacks are outdated by double stacks but by the slimmer profile conceal better. So some guns have a place or purpose that only they can accomplish.

    Tactical. The term implies immediate action to overcome a specific problem. Fighting a pitched battle is not 'tactical'; it should be planned in advance with allowances for unexpected developments. Handguns are tactical in the sense they are designed for immediate remedy of an unexpected - surprise - circumstance. Were one expecting with some definate knowledge, one would carry a rifle. A rifle has a greater range, greater potential accuracy and is generally more efficient in repelling deadly force. (Tunnels and stairways possibly excluded. A handgun is carried, either openly or concealed, to answer an immediate problem In that regard, the revolver is quite useful. In my private life, I have never been beset upon by a reinforced battalion of Red Chinese soldiers. (Likely a machine would not fare well.) I rather expect to be criminally approached by three evil doers at the most. The only reason for more than six shots immediately is missing the intended target. This is the reasoning for the "... thirty shot burst ... concept of self defense. Also, one finds that having 'many' rounds available tends to discourage accurate shot placement.

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac Před 5 dny

      Why in the world would “having ‘many’ rounds available” discourage accurate shot placement. Round count and accuracy are mutually exclusive. I would contend that someone who shoots accurately would do so regardless of their available round count and someone who shoots sloppily, well they shouldn’t be shooting. Telling someone to handicap themselves by having less available ammo in a life and death gun fight because it will sharpen their accuracy is kind of crazy…there are no rules in that situation and you want every possible advantage in your favor. I agree that a revolver brings some unique advantages to a gunfight that cannot be matched by a semiautomatic, but decreased capacity is definitely NOT one of them.

    • @OldManMontgomery
      @OldManMontgomery Před 5 dny

      @@DrTac Round count discourages accuracy by discounting hits as one has much more ammunition left. It is essentially the idea sold by firearms competition which ignore the inherent ability of some calibers serving the function better and replacing accuracy with round count, or 'tries'. And to further display your ignorance of the matter, you fail to recognize the accuracy level in use of any arm begins PRIOR to the need. This applies to self defense, hunting, or bullseye target shooting. '"Doctor" initially denoted anyone with a certain level of knowledge of a subject. From this, we have 'doctors' of various subjects. With my fifty-five years of firearms use and seventy some years of life, I am still a student of life in general. Feel free to justify yourself. I'm done with this asininity.

    Not a fan of tacticle light on a firearm! In order to illuminate an area with a gun mounted flash light, means you are pointing a gun at a potential non threat. Guns should only be pointed at targets, not randomly to aquire a target!

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac Před 9 dny

      Yeah, I don't disagree. This is one of the key points that I had made in a previous video. I received a lot of comments pointing out that light (attached to the muzzle) should be used indirectly, aimed at the ground while reflecting up and illuminating the room. However, I still would prefer a separate flashlight.

    • @Sola_Scriptura_1.618
      @Sola_Scriptura_1.618 Před 9 dny

      @DrTac The problem with indirect light is when you need more light, you raise your barrel and point it where you shouldn't be pointing it! People can make all the claims in the world about how they should be using a barrel-mounted flashlight, but one thing they will never be able to do is adjust human behavior. The barrel of a gun should never be pointed at anyone or anything you do not plan to shoot. Your finger should never be on the trigger unless you intend to shoot. These two basic safety concepts save lives; when you eliminate one, you have just increased the chances of unintended consequences. I am no gun expert by any means, but I do know a thing or two about common sense, logic, and statistics.

    Good video and food for thought. Myself, I'm an old school revolver guy.

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I respect you choice...believe it or not, I am now finding myself carrying both...but I think I may be transitioning to primarily the revolver.

    I have over 250 firearms and in my nightstand is a flashlight and a Taurus 856 Ultralight loaded with +P hallow points.

      Yeah, but it's not...it's the OG lever gun, yet it's all new....I'm actually getting dizzy writing this.

    Carry a C2 and like the full-length grip. P is my competition gun. A C with a full-length gun would be a sweet carry gun.

      @DrTac Před 10 dny

      Personally, I find the CS to be my preferred coneal carry choice, definitely over the C2 and the C. It just conceals better and despite its diminutive size, it's quite the shooter.

    I kinda remember a guy with an eyepatch, and a couple Smith and Wesson 44s with aimpoints. I think he called himself a gun fighter too.

    A revolver can do both, well. A j-frame type can still do the 40 yd shot with more power, and not need the other rounds. The key is training. My brother and I both carry revolvers alot. I'd rather face most people with a Glock, than him with a 75 year old S&W Model 10. He has proven the he can fire the initial shots faster, and more accurately than the Glock competitors in his club. Whichever gun you choose to carry, TRAIN until its second nature and instinct.

    Both revolver and auto loader. Capacity and reliability. And if you need to elicit the help of a stranger, most people can figure out a double action revolver.

    Why not a smaller gun like the PPK/S?

    • @DrTac
      @DrTac Před 12 dny

      While the cool factor is huge, the PPK/s brings together the worst of both options: weak caliber, low capacity, subject to limp wristing, and can easily be pushed out of battery…all that said, I have one…what can I say? Sometimes the cool factor wins😎

    I was a police officer for 36 years. For my first ten years on the job I was issued a revolver and then the following twenty six I carried autos. I think it was good that I started with revolvers but I welcomed the higher capacity of the autos. For home defense I prefer a revolver but for concealed carry personally I prefer an auto even though there are advantages either way. Shoulder holsters I would only wear under a jacket and they aren't the best for weapon retention.

      @@DrTacYou're right about the shooter or fighter conundrum. I guess everyone has to figure out what they feel best about carrying and go with it. Train, stay calm should a situation should arise and most likely you'll come out okay. Very interesting video btw. 👍
