I suggest using a 5oz veg tan leather. However, anything from a 4 to 6oz
should work just fine. You'll also need some hardware. The D rings and clips are all 5/8" or 1.5cm. You'll need 4 regular D rings,
2 square D rings, and 2 clips. While the rivet, snap, and ball stud
holes are marked, make sure to use the appropriate size hole punch
for the hardware you'll be using.

for those square corners, rather than the rocking motion with the blade, it would be safer if you put the tip of the knife down at the point of the corner and pulled towards the holes you've already punched. That way if the knife slips it goes into the gap you've already made instead of your work piece.
Hey brother you have gotten so much better at teaching and explaining you work as you do it. I would appreciate it if you re did this hat video using leather this time. I am a very visual learner and I know it would help me a lot seeing it done with leather. That way you could also explain your leather choices. Thank you in advance.
Thanks, Thats a good idea. I'll give it some thought. In the mean time to help out I would suggest going with a 2oz chrome tan. Make sure the direction with the most stretch goes in the same direction mentioned for the fabric version on the pattern printout.
Great pattern! What size dome rivets are you using, and can you add a link for the lock pick kit? Thanks!
Thanks! The listing I purchased is gone, but heres another one. How many sizes are included in the pattern please. cheers
There are 5 sizes. From kids, to XL adults. The sizes can also be adjusted by the thickness and density of the wool. Extra small fits a 16.5" to 18.5" head Small fits a 18.5" to 19.5" head. Medium fits a 19.5" to 21" head. Large fits a 21" to 22.5" head. Extra large fits a 22.5" to 25" head (larger with thinner or trimmed down sheepskin).
Loved your video! Appreciate you sharing.
Thank you. Glad to hear it.
good evening, I have a question, is it possible to apply oils, balms, creams over these finishes to nourish the leather or do they form a waterproof layer that prevents absorption? Thanks for the reply and thanks for the interesting video!
Hi. Yes you can. If you try right after the piece is completed it will sit on the surface longer. But since the acrylic resolene will still take moisture in over time it will eventually get through. However, I wouldn't do anything like that until I've used something for a while anyhow. Then I prefer an oil of some kind. But still go really light. Then do another coat in a few days if I think it needs it. Hope that helps? Tony Allen Bernier www.tonyallenbernier.com
Congrats, Tony! Well deserved.
Thank you.
❤❤
Thanks.
Ive never considered using leather like this. Brilliant work.
Thank you.
Congratulations 😊😊
Thank you.
How exciting for you!!
For sure. Thanks.
This is the first time I have viewed any of you videos. I want to thank you for not being so traditional with you projects. I am tired of those wallets, covers and card cases. This project is something that everyone could use for because or its practicality. I like that you are not using fancy machines and expensive tools to complete you work, I look forward to watching more of you videos and projects. Oh, I almost forgot, really like your comments, tips and tricks. Ten years as a leather craftsman and I'm still learning. Thank You!!!!!👍😎
Thank you. I appreciate it.
May I ask what type and gauge of thread to use to sew the parts for this project?
I believe I was using a 138 or 207.
This is so cool! What size of buckles are you using? Want to make sure I get the right size. Thanks!
Thank you. The buckle sizes will be listed on the pattern and/or in the listing.
Do you have a pattern for a putter with the shaft in the middle and not on the ends?
Nope. Just this one.

Do you take gold leaf as a color? tank you to help me
Hi, I have a video talking about liquid frisket. I use that to block the leather while I paint the background. Then I paint the gold sections with gold paint.
Hi What product do you use to mark leather with your logo tank you
hello, I get my custom stamps and pattern rubs from Grey Ghost Graphics.
Seems ljke the sole would wear through quick. Is there a way to make the sole more durable and grippy? Dip in rubber? Attach to a rubber or foam sole?
If you walk around outside, yes. They do great in the house. There are slipper grips you can buy that stick on. I haven't tried those, but if I did do something I would probably go with more of a permanent sole.
My son in law needed some colored filled bottles like this for his ren fest outfit, but kept getting frustrated with the color separating and settling. We finally came up with letting jolly rancher hard candies disolve in vodka. He's been using them for years, and they still haven't separated. 😊
Cool. I've thought about just doing some deep pour epoxy so I don't have to worry about them leaking during the off season.
Just got done with making 2 dozen leather roses with beaded stems for my mother's birthday party. About to make mom a zebra wood sided leather purse, then onto that bag in the recent video for me. Grabbed the pattern on your shop, and OMG had to grab the crown pattern pack, too. I love Filigree and cutouts.
Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it.
Im just going to binge this playlist today since my feed is full of horrible news stories from this upside-down world, and I need some happier content in my brain. 😅
HAHAHA, thanks. I hear that......
Awesome project!!! Thank you.
Thanks. You betcha.
Great intermediate project here. Perfect for someone who wants to try a pattern that is a little more involved. I also love these types of bags with a fairly short front seam to practice welting on if you want to try a little more fancy of a technique.
Thanks, glad to hear it. I wouldn't mind seeing what you do with it.
I've been hanging onto some purple chrome and a shoulder of black Sao Paulo. This bag would be perfect, thanks. Oh, and I now have a collection of large tic tac containers full of leather dust thanks to the diorama video. I love your website and blog. It's very helpful and inspirational. ❤
Nice, feel free to send me a picture of that if you want, I'd like to see how it turns out. Awesome, thanks for the patronage, I appreciate it.

This is awesome! Which type/lenght of sheepskin is this ?
Thanks, Here's a link right to what I use. www.weaverleathersupply.com/products/sheepskin-beige/?ref=mdq2zmv
Instead of scissors, it's better to use a razor blade, so you won't cut the wool.
As far as cutting less wool I completely agree. However, scissors are the most user friendly, especially for cutting around curves. I try to go with techniques that are the most applicable to all skill levels.
