Welcome to my world of movement and creation. I am Yeri Anarika,
a dance artist born in Mexico and based in Berlin and the
Uckermark (North Brandenburg). With more than 25 years of
international experience, I share my passion for the art of dance in
connection with other arts as a performer, creative director and
teacher.
My passion is to set creative processes in action through dance,
using contemporary themes in order to better understand the
world in which we live and to achieve a sensitive understanding of
our world.
I lead my own dance association "UMtanz which aims to bring the
art of dance closer to the people and I often work as a
choreographer and workshop teacher with art universities, schools
and professional dance, opera and theater companies, as well as
initiating and guiding projects for cultural education and projects

ConeXion Dance Battle 2024
Welcome to the trailer of "ConeXion - Dance Battle," (made by Paul Rohlfs) a show created and presented by Yeri Anarika - DanceWorks.
Since 2021, this event has been made possible through collaboration with the UMtanz association and the Templin Multicultural Center. For the first two years, we were supported by Neustart Culture, and in the last two years, we have been part of the dance festival in Templin, support by the Tanzland Kultur Stiftung des Bundes program.
"ConeXion - Dance Battle" is a celebration of dance styles, pitting ballet, street dance, and contemporary dance against each other. On stage, we have nine professional dancers from different parts of the world, all residing in Berlin, accompanied by a DJ and two hosts.
The show captures and plays with the skill, essence, presence, and emotion of movement through pure improvisation. This improvisation also reflects the rich culture of each dancer, coming from various parts of the world. "ConeXion" appeals to the connection between styles, human beings, and shared experiences. Beyond competition, it seeks unity and joint celebration. The battle is just a pretext to dance together and invite the audience to participate with their applause and ideas.
This event highlights the cultural diversity of the artists, promoting an intercultural exchange that allows artists and audiences to communicate through the universal language of dance. Additionally, the show is prepared to include guest performances and can be presented in various locations to reach a broader audience.

@@scarletred8888 Oh you mean _like that..._ Well then, I absolutely agree with you! You know, sometimes when I find the music being almost "too inspiring" (if you know what I mean) I tend to become so overwhelmed with specific emotions I'm not ready to fully let out through my dancing yet, OR, don't yet know *how to,* so I just end up standing there not feeling like I have the skills to dance to such a song - I end up not being able to move at all. Does that make sense? 😳 The music in this video is best suited for warm ups for most people, they should play more emotional and "real" stuff as the class progresses in my opinion. Its definitely not something you'd _perform_ to... So I get what you are saying. I think I'm just so used to my instructor have more "simple" music playing when I dance, so it sort of taught me how to find emotion and theme in ANY song, even if it was kind of dull 🤔 Finding that in some very simple beats can be hard. I think that's how a lot of choreographers are made though. Learning how to work with almost _anything._ It requires a certain kind of creativity and deep listening behind it I guess. But for a class like this, you're absolutely right. Especially if they ONLY have classes with this kind of music, how would they keep being inspired for new dimensions to their movements so to speak? Yeah absolutely. We need music with more feeling as well👌🏼
