    I used this model when in school as a cabinet maker. Absolute joy to use and I can't wait until I can afford to buy one for myself (which I hope happens in the next 1-2 years). Until then I have to settle with a Scheppach as I need a wet grinder (I've spotted small nicks on my chisels and they need to be fixed), but I'll definitely run all tools over the Tormek T8 when I get myself one, as I don't believe any other brand can offer the same level of quality sharpening. As a cabinet maker who primarily work with hand tools and thus use _a lot_ of blades, the Tormek T8 is *the* wet grinder to get. It's definitely worth every penny

    hi, have you ever seen various violin making knives? They are shorter and smaller, any of your jig doesn't help to sharpen. 99% violin maker have Tormek but we do sharpening free hand with tormek. Please google violin making & repair knife in Google and invent some jig. I guess much smaller KJ-56 will work for our knives. SVM-00 also doesn't help.

  • @matticeverhoeven6539

    Not having an adjustable stop seems like a step backwards; that small one is very hard to keep square

    Tormek has never invented a jig for violin making and repair knife. 98% of violin makers have Tormek but this company doesn’t effort the customer in our field.. I can do my violin knife sharpening only with free hand.

    Hello folks. Hopefully someone will get this message. The small knife jig doesn't work well with knives which have a rectangular shaped handle. It's very difficult to seat it securely in the jig. Any suggestions?

    I have found out the answers to most of my questions by reading through the comments and because you actually answer peoples questions👍, shame about the couple of uncalled for rude ones (some people smh) anyway I have made up my mind to bite the bullet and go for the T8 with all the bells and whistles ! I know its going to cost me at least £2000 but I have so many things this set up would help me achieve, I have been looking at your products over the last few years and finally in a few months I will have the money. I have always bought the best tools I could afford throughout my life and I'm pretty sure a T8 will fit in just nice with them. Perfect😉

    On the Tormek T-4 with the MB-102 and the standard support bar I cannot position the KS-123 like shown at 15:27 because the leather wheel is closer and the snapping part alignes directly with the threaded section of the aupport bar. Any Ideas to work around this? I really would have liked it for honing also.

    At approximately 6:10 you can notice that the black nut to secure tighten the leather wheel is kind of shaking/ wobbling . Is actually doing the same thing on my T-8 and the leather wheel wobble aswell . I read on the tormek community that others customers had the same problem. Is it normal? There is something we have to do to fix on our own or we have to send it back to repair?

    I just received my dbs-22 jig yesterday and spend the Saturday afternoon setting it up and figuring out how it works. There is a lot of feeling involved and not a tool I would recommend to any clumbsy person looking for fast quick solution. If it is accuracy and precision you are after then this will be hard to beat in cost. Professional tool sharpeners for machine shops can cost as much as a small lathe and still won't be able to sharpen your knife or woodworking tools. The beauty of Tormek is it's versatility and if you only want to use it to sharpen drill bits you might find it very expensive but if you use it to sharpen the many other cutting edges used around the house and in your DIY toolshed, this is worth it's weight in gold.👍

    Ezylock and the proprietary Tormek shaft oval locking system make heavy commercial use a breeze. I’d go insane if I had to get out spanners and Allen keys every time I had to adjust the rest height or change a wheel. Your tightening systems have made me a lot of money over the years by increasing my productivity by an incredible amount.

    The "every 2 minutes" is a great tip. A high quality hard steel knife will smooth the wheel all by itself and you'll be there for ages. Get those bevels ground as fast as possible. Then refine. Another tip is to use diamond sharpening plates to achieve the same effect. I use an 80 grit diamond plate to achieve the same grade of roughness as the rough side of the SP-650.

    Do you have any tips about even bevels? One side has a larger bevel than the other.

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening Před měsícem

      Hej davec9371, mostly, the shorter was sharpened to little. Just use more passes on the shorter side. Check also the thickness of your blade when using the older SVM-45 or SVM-140, When sharpening quite thick blades you may adjust the angel for the other side. When using the KJ-45 and KJ-140 the blade is self centred.

  • @yxcvmk
    @yxcvmk Před 2 měsíci

    Maybe I can get a tip here: I have the knife holder (the small one), and am sharpening 25-30cm kitchen knives in a T8. When I slide the knife left/right on the stone, then *sometimes the knife tilts, and with that I sharpen on the edge of the stone and immediately have a nick in the middle of my blade somewhere.* Sure this must be user error, I must hold the knife wrong somehow...?

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening Před měsícem

      Hej yxcvmk, when you round off the edges with the Stonegrader SP-650 the risk is minimised. Another tip is to hold the knife not cramped, just comfortable and lose, to have better the contact feeling and the feedback. Last but not least hold the blade straight and don't go to deep.

  • @davec9371
    @davec9371 Před 2 měsíci

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening Před měsícem
