Thank you so much to explain the difference between CBN and diamond wheel. I have both DC-250 and DF-250. Both are top wheels.
The CEO asking about diamond stone very honestly and suncerely.
Proud owner of T8 here, and i love it.
Glad to hear you love the machine Tomáš and thank you for sharing!
Thank you for the great information!
Thank you for watching Mary and glad you enjoyed.
I bought a T8 a few weeks ago. I think it is a fabulous piece of machinery. Regards from Canada.
Great to hear you are happy with your investment :D Stay sharp!
So nice talk, and very good information. Happy new year to tormek Team.
Thank you El Cubil de la Herramienta, Happy New Year to you to!
Thanks for clearing up some of the different features on the different stones
Of course! Thank you for watching, and stay sharp!

You guys are smart. These videos make consumers confident enough to buy your product because you have so much information available. Btw I just received my t8 and 4000 grit Japanese wheel now I'm eyeballing the 600 grit diamond stone :P
Hej Corey, customers also buy from us because we offer high-quality machines and accessoires. ;) Happy that you got your Tormek T-8. Have fun with it and stay sharp! //Tanja from Tormek
Have had my T8 for around a year. Always looking to hone my craft. Your videos are awesome. Time for me to upgrade to diamond.
Thank you
We love to hear that, thank you! Stay sharp!
Thank you for this content
Excellent Video. Very informative. Thank you.
Happy to hear that! 😎
this is a wonderful video.....thank you so much...cheers from the USA, Paul
Happy you liked it! Cheers from Lindesberg, Sweden :D Stay sharp!
Thanks for the vid. It’s great to hear from the man that invented the tool. Can you do one on the tool holders / accessories?
Thank you for your kind words! Check out our sharpening classes, we go through almost our entire catalogue: czcams.com/play/PLGpQjduHna4DOfmVeoXe0J9J9dEEqU0UN.html
Bought a t-8 in Dec.
Japanese wheel also. I love it and still figuring it out but knives are sharper than ever and the edges hold up better than the belts or paper wheels
Hi Darren, thanks for sharing. The Japanese Waterstone is a personal favorite for me as well. A mirror finish is always a treat!
Cud very good cuk guzel shana bravo
It's great to see a YT video without all the bullshit. Another reason to appreciate the Tormek
Thank you for a very informative video, I was curious about the diamond for removing steel. In the tool and cutter grinder trade we use it exclusively on carbide. Thanks again!!
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Gunnar Lian Instablaster ;)
Thank you!
Real good. Thanks for all the information. Wish we could get similar machines in India. Regards from Antonio from Goa India
Hello Antonio, thank you for your kind words. If you are interested in buying a Tormek in India you can send an email to info@tormek.se and we’ll help you in the right direction 😊 Stay sharp!
Thank you for an informative video. To derive the greatest benefit from these types of videos, please consider using a tripod and some notes to keep things moving along to maximize information delivery in the least amount of time. Regards.
I want that Tormek jacket!😁😁😁
Hej Adam Mrena Woodturning, yeah... many ask for that ;-)
We'll see what we'll come upp with in the future....

Hello, thanks for the video. If I switch projects and go from the DF-250 diamond, back to the SG250 grindstone. Do I now need to change the water because it has the anti-corrosion concentrate?
Hej Greg,
you can use the ACC-150 Anti-Corrosion Concentrate also with the other stones, not only with the Diamond Wheels. It also protects your tools 😊
Stay sharp!
Hola soy Gustavo de españa casariche (Sevilla) enhorabuena por el vídeo y lo profesionales que sois, tengo la t8 piedra sg y la DE, cual me aconsejáis que compre para el desbaste principal ?
Hej Gustavo, thank you for the kind feedback. If you want to remove more material the e.g. damaged/chipped knives then a roughened SG-25 is mostly enough. If you want to reshape e.g. woodturning tools a DC-250 is the choice.
It´s in general not as easy to give you the perfect answer, it depends on the amount of material which has to be removed, the hardness of the material and what type of tool it is.
I hope I could answer your question. /Wolfgang
Do you recommend using the fine wheel to set the edge (burr) and then finish with the extra fine before using the leather wheel?
Hi Kyle. It depends of which tool and also what you're going to do with the tool. For most tools the DF 600 grit+honing wheel gives a great finish. But off course if you want a superior finish the DE 1200 grit is even finer.
@@TormekSharpening
I’m going to order 2 more T-8s this will leave me with 3 now. My set up will be the 600 / 1200/ 3000 Japanese wheel. I feel this will be a great set up for my business Knife Flight 90% of my business are knifes. I already have the the original stone, that can be used for metal removed when needed.
Do you agree? Or have any suggestions?
Thank you!
Could you please share the part number of tool to dress diamonds wheels?
Thank you for explaining the common features of the diamond wheels. Would you recommend the Fine grit (600) for fixing a badly damaged edge on a chisel or HSS planer blade? Or is the Coarse grit (320) a better option?
Hej Alessandro, depends how damaged it is and how much time yoou like to invest. Heavily damaged is for some still sharp ;-). In general the DF with 600 grid is absolutley fine. The coarse with 360 grid is just meant to remove material, but you need the DF afterwards.
@@TormekSharpening Thanks!
Is the DF -wheel faster than original grinding wheel? I am considering DF or DC because I need to grind alot of tools and I really need more speed out of tormek system. Currently using standard original wheel witch is frustratingly slow. I can't use bench grinder because of noise, dust and fire hazard.
The DF Diamond Wheel Fine with it's equivalent of 600 grit would be faster on harder steels. But if you are looking to remove a lot of material I'd recommend the DC Diamond Wheel Coarse. Note that the DC is not a finishing grinding wheel though. Good luck and stay sharp!
Hi, I'm planning on buying a Tormek T-8 Custom with a DF-250 & SJ-250 combo - would that work, I mean grinding with the DF-250 and honing with the SJ-250, or is the grit gap too big?
Hi Karl! That combo would work perfectly! Just keep in mind the SJ-250 Japanese Waterstone will decrease in diameter over time, so you'll have to change the jig setting when switching to it from the DF-250 Diamond Wheel Fine. Stay sharp! :D
please make a diamond wheel for the T4
Agree
Been asking for several years.
Ditto!!
Yes I have been asking as well. There is a company who does make the Diamond wheel for the T4
@@richardgarrow9260 who?
Great demo guys, Tormek is the ultimate in sharpening and I use mine often, my question is ; should the diamond wheel be used to sharpen cobalt or carbide items such as drill bits with Tormek jigs ?
Thank You
Hej woodturnermark8529 yes you can, but use little pressure especially when you sharpen drill bits to the steep angel which is very aggressive to the surface.
For sharpening kitchen cutlery at a farmers market would you suggest course diamond or fine diamond, then finish with extra fine or leather?
Hello! good question, and we can't give a straight answer I'm afraid. It totally depends on the condition of the knives, but i would guess they can be quite beat up? Worth noting is that you won't get a good edge off the DC-250/200 Diamond Wheel Coarse and then honing. If you have the coarse wheel you'll have to finish with either the fine or the extra fine before honing (we recommend to always end with honing). So i'ts really a matter of preference. Check out our grinding wheels guide for more info: tormek.com/en/knowledge/the-tormek-way-of-sharpening/grinding-wheels-guide. Personally, i would go for just the DF-250/200 Diamond Wheel Fine, since it should do an efficeint job while leaving a good edge. Then IF it turns out you feel you need even faster material removal or a higher polish down the line, you can add whichever wheel you feel you need.
Or email support@tormek.se for additional support.

Is there a diamond wheel for the t4 system. I have carbide gravers i would like to keep sharp
Hej Danny, not yet. But stay tuned to find out when they are released... ;) Stay sharp! //Tanja & the Tormek-Team
Is the water bath used with the diamond stone?
Hi Will, we recommend to use it with the water for health reasons. The metal dust is not very good for you. But you can run them dry if you want. It works just as good. Stay Sharp!
I find that the diamond surfaces of sharpening plates clog relatively quickly when sharpening stainless steel knives. Would this happen with the Tormek diamond wheels?
Hi Michael, Thank you for your question. The issue you're refereeing to is nothing I have experienced or heard anyone complain about so I would say that it wouldn't happen on the Tormek diamond wheels. Stay sharp!
@@TormekSharpening Thank you for your reply. The next stone I buy from my Tormek Grinder will probably be the Japanese stone, which has a 4000 grit abrasive to give a super fine finish, but I like the idea of being able to maintain the same diameter on the diamond wheel and to be able to use the flat side for certain applications
hi with the diamond wheel can I leave the liquid in the wheel when not in use or should I remove this thanks
Hi! Even if you use the ACC-150 Anti-Corrosion Concentrate you should make sure your diamond wheels are stored dry when not in use to keep them in top trim for as long as possible :)
Hi. Would you say that the 600 grit diamond stone give the same finish as the fine side of the 220/1000 stone?
Hej Tom,
the 1000 stone is a bit finer in the result. But you can also reach very good results with the 600 grit diamond stone. 😎💎
Stay sharp & safe!
@@TormekSharpening thanks for your reply. Sharpening my wood turning tools is difficult with the standard stone. The surface gets uneven very quickly. Maybe the diamond stone is the best choice for these tools.
Bonjour ...
c'est une bonne vidéo et elle aurait mérité une petite démonstration ...

Merci beaucoup pour cet excellent commentaire.

Thanks for introduction!Do you need diamond powder or cbn?
Hej, The wheels are coated with diamonds, there is no need for applying powder. CBN wheels are used on faster rpm and not that suitable on a slow going Tormek.
//Wolfgang
He indicates that the diamond wheel will last years with reasonable care, as will a lot of things. However, he also indicated that the diamond "wears" and gets finer over time. It must one day become a honing wheel then and no longer a grinding wheel.
Hi Jeff, Yes it's correct the diamond will over the time of years get finer and finer as it wears. However diamond is the hardest material so it's very durable. Where the line between a honing wheel and grinding wheel is drawn is difficult to say. The idea with the honing wheel is to remove burr and the materials in a honing wheel are often a bit flexible which makes it easier to avoid damaging the edge when honing.
Nice
Thank you!
dear Tormek Sharpening Innovation, first of all, thank you for the video, it's very good, I want to ask for some help, unfortunately I forgot to put the acc150 liquid in the water for the DF 250 diamond wheel fine diamond stone when I first used it, and now I see that the diamond wheel is streaked a little tanned, whatmake it disappear?my first plane and I were very stupid and now I'm worried about what will happen
Thank you very much in advance for your help
A slightly tanning is not a big issue, it should be ok when using the Anti-Corrosion-Concentrate now.

Hello. Is the diamond used mono- or polycristalline?
Hej Ewe,
please excuse our late reply.
Our diamond wheels are monocrystalline. They are more durable than polycrystalline ones. It is the same type of diamond as of DMT Diamond Sharpeners.

I have the t8 DF250 diamond wheel and have steel build up on the grinding surface from ginding high speed steel turning tools, how can i remove this steel build up?
Hej, you can use an normal eraser or a natural rubber to clean the surface.
Do you have a diamond wheel that can be used on the Tormec One ??
We do have diamond wheels with a diameter of 200 mm for our Tormek T-4 (Original and Bushcraft) and with 250 mm for the Tormek T-8 Original. Those wheels fit also older models.
I have a T7 with all possible accessories, I am considering a T8, but I will NOT sell my T7, because I LOVE it.
Can You please point out differences between the 2 machines ? Are diamond wheels perfectly compatible ? Are there accessories NOT compatibles or are all interchangeable ? Thank You !
Hej Richard,
great to hear that you are still happy with your Tormek T-7. The Tormek T-8 Original has a different housing and small adjustments all around it - we are improving the machines continiously. But you can use all jigs and all grinding stones with 250 diameter on the older machines as well. This has been always very important to us that our products are compatible with older models as well.
Stay sharp!
My t4 needed a new wheel, Ive just brought a new one which is a diamond wheel
I do not know the best way to use it can you please give some tips of the differences between a normal wheel and a diamond.
Ive been with tormek many years, before the t4 I had a 2000
Hi Jessica,
The main difference with the diamond grinding wheels is that they need way less sharpening pressure, and should always be used with ACC-150 Anti Corrosion Concentrate mixed in the water. In this video we talk about using diamond grinding wheels for the Tormek T-4: czcams.com/video/2tTm_iwFEK8/video.html

@@TormekSharpening Thank you. Ive used the course and the extra fine, the fine was out of stock. It should arrive soon.

Does the diamond wheel absorb water, like the standard stone?
No, it does not.
I know this question is off-topic. Please would someone from tormek explain the best way to use the leather honing wheel.
I can obtain a nice edge on the main wheel, when I use the leather, the edge is lost.
Please could you share your fine honing skills
Best wishes
Hi Jessica! We talk all about honing in this video: czcams.com/video/40AoJ8UBprI/video.html

Hi
Can i use de-200 weel to my tormek t2
Hello! Search for the DWE-200 Diamond Wheel Extra Fine which is made for the Tormek T-2 Pro Kitchen :)
@@TormekSharpening How are these wheels different? If I can't use it on both, I wont bother buying a T-2
no answer eh? that makes it clear that this company is not straight up.
👍👍👍👍
Since the price for the rust prevention concentrate is 118 Euro per liter the question should not be "why a steel core?" but rather "why not a stainless steel core?".
Hej Theo, that has to do with the process of plating the diamonds, also we opt against aluminium, due its to soft and would use alot more harmful chemicals.
Hello, what is the price for each wheel
Hi! The price varies between markets and resellers. Visit tormek.com to find resellers in your country and their prices, in your currency. Or you should just be able to google it☺ Stay sharp!

I hate this company.
Just turn your own wheel from plastic, hdpe, or corian and slap a proedge belt on it. Boom $25.

If you buy the t4 factor in an ADDITIONAL $105 for the truing tool. You absolutely need it.
Hej Richard,
we are really sorry that you had difficulties in sharpening some of your tools. Our products are developed and manufactured in Sweden. We aim for a really high quality-standard. Most of our Jigs are patented and developed to deliver high-quality results. Depending on what you sharpen the TT-50 Truing Tool is for sure useful but not mandatory. It does not come with the smaller Tormek T-4 but does with the Tormek T-8 which is build for professional use.
