Geoff, You should mention about manual operate (by pressing button by train driver) level crossing at Barmouth. One of few this type solutions still in use. We need automatization. P.S. Line has no semaphores, just "in cab" display with all information - this is European Train Control System (level2), but still level crossing in Barmouth and Porthmaddog is operate manually (so ironic!)

I had never flaged down a train until I went to Llanaber, the hill up from the station is something 😮. Couldn't believe the amount of people crossing in front of the train in Barmouth, idiots.

I'm a local in Shrewsbury (even though I live in the outskirts of the town) and I must admit I knew about the exit from Dovey Junction into the main road to the next stop which is Borth, where I've stopped for a few days' holiday. The proof is that if you can look outside on the left-hand side from the train windows you can see it. Believe me, I've been past Dovey Junction before and even changed trains there from Borth to Tywin and vice versa.

You might think the Elizebeth line is a London Underground but it’s not it’s a part of a national rail

The one time I used Tal-Y-Cafn was when a huge storm flooded the lower part of the line, along with much of North Wales, and my 150 had to retreat back there - no Harrington Hump, instead a portable step, presumably stored at the station \m/

I used to go on holiday as a kid to Lairg with my parents - so you missed a visit to the wonderful Shin Falls,near Invershin station! Leaping salmon there! Roger's pronounciation of Rogart was a bit off!

During the ear;y 80s i used to do the Grantham to Pwhelli trip, via Nottingham, Derby, Shrewsbury... often on the last service of the evening. Used to stop the 150 at every request stop, check for sluggish passengers then switch the lights out. Took forever but great trip.

There is a rumour that once upon a time, RagAberRag had a "Dovey Junction Challenge" - take the last train out in the evening, camp on the platform overnight, then take the first train in the morning back...

The only available thing is all line rover. . Manchester there is a ranger ticket

When the level crossing was photographed again in April 2023 the Google car was stopped by the barriers

I'm never goof at writing youtube comments but man this hits hard. These past couple of months have been rough for me but I know no matter what things will get better and that despite everything I have been living and will continue to do so. The first timee I saw Dyfi Junction it was asmall island platform no longer than 2-3 coaches long. You can imagine the confusion every Sturday in summer monthsThere used also to be Gogarth that was nothing but a corrugated iron lean to. It was blown awy one stormy night never to be seen again!

Why don't you ever call out these companies for giving us terrible seats? Trains used to come with comfy seats with large cushions. Theres NO REASON why they can't at least have a bigger seat cushion as it would take up no more space. They blame the regulations when the guy making them literally said they never banned comfortable seats.

You should walk the old railway from Hooton to West Kirby. They kept the station at Hadlow Road, Willaston, as a museum. There is tons of history on the route, at Neston, nearby at little Neston is the birthplace of Lady Hamilton, Dove cottage, at Parkgate is the house she took holidays when she lived in London and the Port whete Handle sailed from to perform The Messiah in Dublin, at Thurstaton is the home of Thomas Ismay of Tittanic fame, and so much more on the route.

In 1970 I attended my first ever Scout camp at Arthog, just a little way up the estuary from the bridge. Twice we walked from the site to Barmouth and back via the bridge, but I don't remember any tolls/trolls then. This summer I will returning to North Wales for holiday and hope to travel at least part of the Cambrian Coast Line.

I remember watching this years ago, now I commute into Oxford daily from Bicester and because of this video I look out every day at the swing bridge. It has an odd connection for me, as I live (and volunteer!) where the station building that bridge used to provide access to has now been moved.

On holiday in Snowdonia in 1992/3, we were staying in Trawsfynydd, but most evenings we'd head into Barmouth for dinner. It's no longer there, but there used to be a Fish and Chip shop that had THE tastiest chips in the Country!!

I remember around 5 years ago I got off here to run along and grab a bus to Aberystwyth from a bus stop along the main road 😂

That is an absolutely spectacular beachside station at Llanaber. I would compare it to the station at Mana (on the Wellington to Kapiti line here in New Zealand). Or what was Muri station just a little north, and on a hilltop.
