INTERVIEW: how Malibu Boats came to Australia with Xavier West
As others have said for the hill climb, the 2l is in sports mode and the 3.2l is in drive. Different pumps used at the servo on the after run fills, and the 2l did its run later in the day, with possibly cooler air. I'll stick with the less stressed 3.2.
Have you had any issues with the limited approach, departure and ramp over angles? Are the front and rear bits that will hit first, steel or plastic?
I think this style of travel is what has been missing since Leyland Brothers days. So original , with no advertising (other than the odd self promo which is very informative). Personalities that aren't rehearsed or trying to be anything. Keep it coming. Thank you ✔️🏆
Thankyou very much! We really appreciate your comment. It is very complimentary. We have a new series coming very soon and your words have given us new motivation...
It was part of the train brakes system. It in the triple valve for the wagon's brakes. And the piece in your hand is an expansion bowl , it's use was to give a more positive brakes application, so if the driver only made a light application then this bowl would give more air reduction, thus applying the brake harder 😉. Sorry for the long winded story . But you did ask 😅
That is fantastic! Thankful for sharing this information. I'm sure our viewers will be impressed with your knowledge and grateful for sharing that.
What happened to the GR Toyota??
We change our vehicles over regularly. We used the GR in many episodes including Cape York, Gibb River Road and Silverton. We have more vehicles coming up soon. The kept the GR for 2 years which is the longest we ever had a vehicle! It was time for fresh vehicles!!
Grow a beard please.
Hi Guys, cant believe the tyre pressures you are airing down too ! pressure's you suggest seem super high above normal pressures ?????
Yes, we agree and thought the same.! Toyo advised that low pressures are based on weight, speed, tyre size and tyre ply. Thanks for watching.
Where can you buy in USA?
You would have to buy from us at the factory in Albury and we can export it.
Another excellent video. Please keep em coming
I'm glad you enjoyed it! We have more exciting content on the way, so stay tuned!
Best Odnadata track I've seen yet. Thanks Guys
Thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate your feedback and are glad you enjoyed this episode!
You two make travel look so easy, Sorely you would need long range fuel tanks, etc, that you for sharing your travels
Thanks for your comment! We definitely put in a lot of planning to make our travels smooth and enjoyable. A long range fuel tank would have been ideal.
Another great video showcasing the Vans mate! Can I ask what the calculation/methodology toyo had recommended you for tyre pressures ie 3100kg over the axles of the van so almost divided by 10 gives you 30psi a pound per square inch per 100kg kinda thing?
We did ask the same question and there's a bit of science to it. Other factors are the tire size, side wall profile, construction of the tyre and speed. The tyres on the Chev were 3 ply, meaning a stronger side wall and therefore we couldn't let them down as much as a 2 ply due to friction which would cause heat. We go into more detail on this in our upcoming episodes. Thanks for your comment and watching!
Love watching your travels, you make it look easy. We should paint our cars in camouflage, you wouldn’t notice the mud and sludge as you do on a nice black paint job. Two pairs of shoes needed, rubber boots (Merry Boots) place in a bag and wash when your able, second pair for driving, clean mats, clean car. Your dad sounds like a nice character, he doesn’t sound 80 years either.
Thanks for your comment. The double shoes is a great idea! Nick's dad is a real character. We are editing the next episode at the moment and he will be in it, Thanks for watching.
Great video guys thanks for sharing I followed the same route just a couple of weeks ago
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled that you found the video helpful and that you followed the same route. Your support means a lot!
Nice little series…. But seriously…. Nick… it’s time for you to sport the number 3 haircut, … 😂😂
Thanks for your comment. He is so precious about his hair... I'm starting to accept it!! Thanks for watching, Heidi.
I bought the Y62 off you guys and attempted to buy the Silverado too. Is it already sold?
We remember selling the Y62, do you still have it? Yes, the Chev is available for sale, our next CZcams car is being built now...
I just did ngkala rocks today in old beat up rodeo!! I don’t know what the hype is about really!
That's great you got out there and did it. Thanks for watching.
No rear bar - where have you put the spare wheel? Looks to be a solid bit of kit. Impressed.
The spare wheel is located underneath and is removable with a winder handle. This is standard on all of our models. If you see a spare wheel on the back of a Mountain Trail, it generally means the van has 2 spares.
52:33 testing like this and showing people gives the public confidence in your product. 👏🏽
Absolutely! Transparency in testing really helps build trust with the audience.
Beautiful girl + Land Cruiser = life fun .
Thanks for your comment! We agree, Heidi is beautiful and a lot of fun. The Land cruiser was excellent throughout the trip. Thanks for watching.
Loved this episode. Your style is unique which is refreshing to see. Love the vans, but sadly way beyond the point of affordability for me just now...but....they are superior and a goal in life
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode and appreciate the unique style. We do have second hand ones from tim to time, keep an eye out!
Australia's speed limit when towing is 100kph.
State based.
Thanks for your comment. Towing speed limits differ from state to state.
@MountainTrailRV yeah NSW pretty sure it's 100, QLD we can still do 110. I've towed into NSW for years breaking the limit it appears.
I stand corrected. It appears only NSW and WA have the 100kph limit.
So if you drive under a truck license are you keeping a Log Book of your driving hours?
Good question! From my understanding, you don't need to keep a log book as its under 12,000kg. You would have to check with the local authorities to be sure...
Great production quality…getting better and better each time
Thank you for noticing! We're always striving to improve our production quality with each video.
Very nice van indeed. It’s disappointing though that you need to purchase a circa $200k behemoth to tow it. 😊
Thanks for your comments. You don't need a Chev to tow this van, just a tow vehicle that can tow 3500kgs.
They really only have the big towing capacity when you transfer the rego to a National Heavy Vehicle registration. Then you and whoever else drives it has to have a HR truck license.
@@NothingsImportant LR not HR. Upto 8t.
Fist time to your channel, really informative and looking at heading to the Flinders shortly so this has been a great help. We are looking at the Chevy and Ram not for off road though, would appreciate your thoughts on the Chev on bitumen. Cheers.
Thanks for checking out the channel! The Chevy performs well on bitumen and offers a comfortable ride. I hope you have a fantastic trip to the Flinders!
a good watch
Thanks for your feedback, glad you enjoyed it.
Could to see you are back, I understand you have a business to run, but back on the road, so good
I really appreciate your comments! Balancing everything can be tough, but it’s wonderful to be back and sharing the journey with all of you.
We are about to downsize and HIT DAT ROAD very soon Still looking for the right van. Love your kitchen! Gary and Lorelie
Thank you so much for the compliment on our kitchen! We're thrilled to hear you're about to start your own adventure on the road!
I thought attaching the breakaway to the safety chain D shackle was a No No!
Can you guys get a ford lightning from somewhere to do some tow tests?😅
Ford Lightning ain't sold in AU
Man imagine the actual Ford F150 Raptor going over there. Including the Raptor R and Raptor 6x6. it would be crazy sight seeing those going through there
Love ❤❤❤❤ rangers
G'day Nick, what's that piece of aluminium that runs along the roof behind the aircon? Cheers.
Great Ep Nick, we met you at the Brisbane Show and you said we must watch this one, well done. Loved your vans, Alana and I appreciate the time you spent with us at the show. We have a Zone RV at the moment & considered a Mountain Trail, but Zone was local for us. Will definitely seriously consider a Mountain Trail for our next van, luv the kitchen set up and overall quality of your vans, cheers Rob
The exact video I was after! Thanks lads good work!!
because it has 2 turbo's the 3.2 is better when re mapped
I went there 30 years ago
For it to be the ultimate vehicle it should be the ranger raptor
Never tow with lane keeping on
Woooow nice good job 👍 I have nissan patrol 2014 how can i fix super charger kit in my car and is there work shop available in Oman can do the job
I am one of your fans 🙌 From 🇸🇦
Heidi always cooks great looking meals. Nick is spoilt😂
Maybe Nick needs to step up his cooking game to impress Heidi!
Great location!
Location, location, location! Can't beat a great spot.
I drove passed this morning and didn’t notice. I will look for it tomorrow morning .
You should have given us the revs comparison. I bet the 2ltrs achieves its power through the 10 speed box and high revs. Why the old ranger is still more relaxed with lower revs. I
Let's see Heidi in a swimsuit more often...
You're not the only one who wants more swimsuit shots of Heidi! Stay tuned!
What fuel octane did you run
Thanks for asking! I usually stick with 98 octane for better performance.
Why was the pretty girl guiding you to hook up. Don't you have a backup camera with BALLCAM😂 No complaints, just wondering
Don't worry, the pretty girl is just there for some extra charm in the hook up. BALLCAM's got your back!
I went with the F150 when I got my truck. I've driven and hauled with Rams at work, they have that accelerator tuned so hot that I've also spun tires while hauling. They also fold like a lawn chair in wrecks. Normally I'd recommend not crashing, but if you're gonna do it, the Ram is not the one you want to do it in. I can also drop into sport mode and play with a Hemi. The ram bodies also rust the quickest, idk if its a paint or prep thing, but the F150 with the aluminum body if undercoated, should last as long as that motor can take it. I remember when I was looking at trucks, looking at a few Rams 2-5 years old with paint already bubbling. Rams also have lifter issues due to the cylinder deactivation, Chevy's are even worse. I didn't even consider Chevy with the reputation for their cylinder deactivation issues. My buddy's 19 ram has the tick. The 5.0 was efficient enough that they avoided using cylinder deactivation until like the 22 model year (might not be the exact year.) Time will tell, but over all I felt the Ford would be the longest lasting and that's what I consider the most important, it hasn't disappointed yet. I haul just under 7k lbs (3100ish KG) via an enclosed trailer/toy hauler conversion with a KRX and dirtbikes from the prairies of middle America to the mountains, around 1400 miles one way and it pulls like a dream.
