Fellow Ode Review: One Year Later
The Fellow Ode. One of most, if not the most, anticipated coffee grinders of 2020. Fellow Products ran a Kickstarter campaign that started in December 2019 and I received mine in September 2020. So after a year of use with the grinder I wanted to share my thoughts on how they've lived up to their claims and several areas I think they could improve if they do a version two of the grinder.

    OMG! What if you stirred six times instead of five, and what if you waited thirty one seconds instead of thirty? Or Twentynine?! Would this make any F-ing difference at all?!

    The aeropressing prismo was not engineered for a regular cup of coffee. It was meant for volume grind , and 50 g of water.

    Even the best and most expensive grinders make siftable fines. Even Fellow. I have a Kruve and only use the finest screen.. Im getting out the finest of the fines.. My cups are sweeter and cleaner on the same grind, temp and dwell.. if they're worthless, why are they used by many competitors? I drink 1 to 2 cups a day want to have that great cup. Kruve usage sucks.

    If your Prismo is leaking, that means you need to purchase a new valve. That’s what happened to me. Otherwise, you get no pressure at all when pushing down on the plunger.

    • @RallyRallyRally
      @RallyRallyRally Před 3 dny

      I’ve noticed with mine that it will spurt like that if you agitate while the plunger is inside. My guess is that the coffee is releasing CO2 which opens the pressure valve

    I just started thinking of my aeropress as a french press with a filter. I use the same fine-ish grind I use for pourover and fp. Filll, stir, let steep for 4-5min, and press. Super easy, turns out perfect. I do like to fill inverted, though, and brewing more than 5min still turns out great because immersion.

    Your video ideas and podcast are well-made. I am a lifetime tea drinker coming into coffee for the last 6 months (55 years of tea drinking BTW). By the time I get a coffee method I like, I am on to a different bag. Each coffee bag seems to need a different method. When I make coffee in the morning I am the least awake. It seems like a crape shoot that I get the coffee right. I bought a kettle with 5 temperature presets. 170, 180, 195, 205, Boiling. Right as th I am using a bag of Peet's Coffee Big Bang, medium roast. It seems that the big companies tend to roast their coffee more than the small companies. I am using a medium roast. BTW I drink my coffee with milk. Any suggestions?

Would help to put the recipe in the description. * Add 30 g of coffee in inverted aeropress * Pour 60 g of 91 degrees Celsius water * Stir rigorously 10 seconds * Pour additional 100 g water (160 g total) * Close the aerporess with filter and cap and squeeze out all the air * Wait 1 minute * Invert and press down 30-45 seconds * Dilute to taste, start with 75 g of water
