Is there any profit made off selling comics?? I just see most sellers breaking even or losing. If there is what’s the best way to go about selling? Most people I’ve seen want to lowball and not even come close to what people paid for. Enjoy the channel 🤘

In watching your entire video, I would say there is some foul play going on. Not sure it was committed by the woman, but probably someone at that sale figured out that book had some value and took it out of the set. I would say it wasn't fishy if it hadn't been the first book you see on the ad. But being the first one, yeah, someone took that out. Could have completely been the woman. They might have done that whole: "We don't deal in comics, but this guy really wants this, so there must be SOMETHING in there! Let's go to the price guide." I would have been tempted to watch some Ebay sales for a few days to see if that lone book suddenly got posted. I will say I would have bought that stack anyway. Could easily turn that one hundred bucks into four to five hundred bucks. Just those Detective books alone would get it high. The Batman #251...Somebody would pay a few bucks for that even with the defaced cover. I mean, with estate sales, you're looking at books that a kid probably had and kids from that era love to do the silly putty and marker thing. I know I could get five or six bucks for that one still.

That is just total BS and the reason I'm hesitant to privately buy in bulk. 100 books the the most expensive one is conveniently on top off the the side. Comic book price guides are just a finger tip away

Be careful next time. Make sure check all single comics before you'll pay them. Also save the picture and show them when you get their and ask " I want to see this comic that you advertise "

A similar thing happened to me. I ordered #12 from my local Chinese restaurant and when I got home, I realized they forgot my eggroll!

This happens a lot. It would happen all the time when people hunted comics on Craigslist. You’d see a collection and see a Spiderman 300 and a few othered and when you got there it was already picked through.

You had every right to ask for your money back. It wasn't what was listed. Your preference and what's worth it to you is worth it to you. But man, that lot was worth a 100, even from the standpoint of coming out way ahead. So much so that I can't imagine they knew enough about comics to be trying to rip you off. You probably still could have sold the Batman joker cover for at least half of that stack, and there were other Batman comics, Flinstones, and books like Solar. I'd have paid a hundred for the stack having seen it like it was. But yes, if it wasn't what you wanted and wasn't what was advertised, good for you for standing your ground.

I had a similar thing happen to me with a more modern collection. Originally 3 asm 361. Next day i pick em up, bring the collection home -only 2.

When I buy collections, I make sure the books are there that were in the photos. No exception I do it with the person in front of me. I use the excuse that I am looking for black mold... Also gives me a chance to look what else is in the lot in case it total crap gives me a chance to back out if they took leading photos to try and get more money out of me. The black mold thing did happen to me I bought a small collection did not check it got home and bam black mold not foxing had to throw them all away. So now I really do check for that.

Im genuinely sorry you went through this, maybe you taught her a lesson. This happened to my wife and i. We purchased a small collection of old ASM and my wife loves the cover to ASM # 20 first Scorpion. I paid the guy for the books, went to my car to make room, than got the books from him and left. Got home and no # 20 😢😢😢 I called him, and he told me..there never was a # 20 and that i have them all 😮😮. That # 20 was in incredible shape for a raw comic. I told him we had it in our hands. He still said, he never had it. What a lair Anyway. Again sorry you wemt through this. What some people won't do for a buck😢.🤨🤨🤨

Not sure what happened but why leave the batman 251 in there if it's a scam. They could have had a portion of the 251 showing if they really wanted to bait people with the photo.

What wild timing. I just put out a video last night about a similar situation yesterday where an X-Men 130 was left out of the collection I just bought. We even ended our vids with the same advice - “Make sure you get what you pay for.”

100% a bait and switch. At very least they should have been able to guarantee that the ones shown were included. Not hard to verify that when you made the phone call inquiring about them.

I agree with you. In my very limited experience that was an encouraging video that you can stand up for yourself against what you think is a scam. It does suck that in this hobby, as it is for me, you can’t trust everybody in the business.

Same type thing happened to me on whatnot. Dealer kept adding Flash vol 1 in the 250 to 350 range during the bidding, including 323 newstand. Several other bidders commented about that book. Guess what wasn't in the pile when I received the package? This was before video receipts, so I really couldn't prove it.

When challenges arise, instances like this become increasingly common. It's disheartening to see how some in the comic collecting hobby take advantage of others for the sake of a book. I stay vigilant and cautious, whether it's navigating estate sales, eBay, local comic shops, or dealing with individuals. It's regrettable that such measures are necessary, but the present circumstances demand it.

You always have to guard yourself against getting scammed. I'm bummed that you didn't get the book that you were seeking, but glad you got your flow back!

How do you manage that? do you collect the taxes from the sales?, how much?. I am in Toronto so maybe I would need to sell only in Canada at the beggining.

Love that deal. I have only found one like that on Ebay. Bought a lot of six 12 cent comics last year for less than $27 including shipping. It had 2 silver age Action Comics, 2 silver age Detective Comics, 1 Our Fighting Forces, and the real kicker was a Fantastic Four 52. It did have a piece cut out of one bottom corner but I still bought an FF 52 for less than 5 bucks. I was shocked even if it would grade at just a .5 I still own it now. The deals can still be found.

Combined shipping can save a ton of money as well. So this one seller had $8 shipping but after your first book rest was free shipping unlimited, he had over 100 books up for auction. Since his shipping was so high it scared off so many potential bidders. I ended up winning 9 auctions from this guy, scooping up VF to NM silver & bronze DD, X-Men and Avengers for dirt cheap. It was a great day.
