Can you do a video on how to sell "comic sets" and what to do when a set has a hot key and people only want the key. Any advice around this? Personally, I like to collect this way. I am not a "key speculator" as much as I am a set collector.
Not sure i can warrant a whole video but i would say for the most part keep the set together unless the individual key got CRAZY high.
Sets are great to include in the types of selling i talked about in this video, ive also had good luck with posting sets on ebay auctions. So many back issues just sit nowadays that ive just chalked up selling a set as a win if i can squeeze $2-$3 an issue out of them.
Great insight! Thank you for sharing. The only thing that I think you under emphasized is the PayPal friends and family portion. A lot of FB comic groups, the rule of selling requires PayPal G&S. With all of the scammers out there, if you see a post asking for F&F many people assume you are a scammer and depending on the comic group your post will be taken down for not following the selling rules.

Thank you for sharing! All great tips! Grading would not be fun for me. I wouldn't trust myself to grade correctly, lol. People would probably ask and I would be 🤷♂️. I don't sell, but I've considered it. Good stuff! 🤘

Thanks for the advice. Once you accept a sale price, how do you communicate to everyone else that a book has already been sold? That seems like a vital step so that the traffic doesn’t waste its time with a book that’s already off the market.
Its in the comment sections below since thats how you claim.
If we reach a deal in the personal message section, i ask them to go back to the comment section and put “Claim (letter)”
If a sale falls through on a claimed letter i go back to the comment section and delete their comment.

So I bought 2 boxes of bulk for my old lady to sell in yard sales. And it had damaged 50s 60s and 70s comics how to get rid of them.
Depends what’s in there. Some books may be worth a lot even damaged

Hi! Thanks for the advice! After a month and a half sitting on my hands and not selling anything on ebay i will give instagram a try!. I am a bit nervous about the taxes. How do you manage that? do you collect the taxes from the sales?, how much?. I am in Toronto so maybe I would need to sell only in Canada at the beggining.
All this depends on your business and how you registered it plus your location. I submit everything in and out to my CPA from the bizz account and let them do their thing. I dont charge sales tax but again, your CPA may recommend different
This was super helpful. Would you say these tactics would be the same for slab selling? I’ve sold some moderately big slabs on eBay, but want to build my IG and do more sells there with PayPal. eBay taking 13% plus more for ads is crazy.
Yep same method for slabs! I dont know if id do as many books in photo though.
So I have an overall collection of books of about 12,500 books in my NY apartment. For space reasons, I want to part with the lowest value books of about 3000, mostly 1-7$ books. I don't need money so I would take better books which would take up less space in trade, what should I do? GI Goe and Punisher runs, etc. are typical
If you dont need the money you can donate them to children’s hospital . If you just dont mind accepting less money if post on Facebook marketplace as a bulk sale of 3k books and sell for $1000-$1500. Then use that money towards bigger or better books for the PC
I notice that all the comics you're talking about are raw not graded. Would you suggest selling only raw or graded or does it matter because I only have 3 graded and a couple thousand raw.
Ive done these sales with both types… people may buy graded from you if you have them priced right since you arent paying fees.
Also doesnt hurt to list on ebay for a higher price and at the same time do a claim sale with a lower price. Just stay on top of what you sell.
Keep it a hobby and as a side line to earn, dont make it your bread and butter, go back to the original reason for collecting, not to earn but for the love of the hobby
And thats exactly what I do. 😃 Doesnt mean people cant make it a living though… Why deprive someone for making money constantly off of what they love?

This information was well presented. But what about taxes? If we use PayPal, they are required to report our income to the IRS and advocates say it’s important that we account for that. Plus states tax.
It’s hard for me to fully understand. Anyone else?
I believe its over a certain percentage sold when you have to pay. Goods and Services is for sure required to pay sales tax. Im an LLC so i just bring all of my sales to my CPA and let them advise. Recommend creating an LLC and a good CPA to anyone selling comics on a regular basis. Theres a lot we can write off that helps offset the taxes.
When you sell a book from group A-H do you update the post noting that G is sold? Not sure how you handle that. Thx
Good question actually. The comment section is my display to public on whats sold and typically serves well to let people know its gone. If i work out a deal in the MESSAGES i always go back to comment section and put “H CLAIMED” or have the buyer go officially comment.
How do you handle getting addresses do folks give you any type of resistance about giving personal information
People are generally open about giving their addresses. Most of the time PayPal has it already and can create a shipping label from their transaction. Another reason why i Like paypal goods and services. Shipping is easier. Just verify that their address is correct in paypal.
I have 20,000 comics, and I dont want to sell any of them. Every CZcams channel is about selling them, and grading them! No one reads comics. Investing in comics is dumb! They are so common. They are not rare. Comics go up in value when movies come out. You just gouge prices when movies come out.

Hey! @skullythehypnoskull I'm a reader too, but I can't keep them all. I don't have the space. So after awhile I go back through my runs and keep what I like and try and sell the rest. Im horrible at it, but that's at least the idea for me. After awhile some stories don't hold the weight they use too.

PAPER CHASE, what apps or websites do you use to find the comic book sales prices transactions to know the history graphs? I'm not sure what causes 50's and 60's comic books to decrease in price value of time, any reasons why they decrease?
I use Gocollect to see most pricing. Covrprice has also gotten better and GPA analysis is good too. Gold and silver comics tend to be more stable over long periods. Not really seeing downtrends on gold and silver comics… but in general condition will be a value killer in individual cases
@@paperchasecomics The GCG Green Labels have down tends compared to the GCG Blue Labels don't dip down in prices. I'm not sure why the Green Label grading prices have down tends prices drop, any reasons why?
@@waynegram8907 green labels are copies that are incomplete. Collectors are wanting complete issues without missing pages or coupons cut out.
@@paperchasecomics Yes I know but I'm wondering what is causing the prices to drop down for the Green Labels and Blue Labels. I would think they would keep going up in prices per month per year but they drop in prices if you look at the history of transactions the prices go up and down it doesn't make sense as to why.
@@waynegram8907 well it can also depend what’s missing out the book as to what someone wants to pay. Its variable that is just constantly changing with each sale
Postage choice? Packaging choices? Delivery method?
Pretty much always do usps media or priority and i use gemini mailers and i use BCW graded comic bags to put books in. This keeps them moisture protected. May do a separate video on this 👍🏼
