Great advice. I tend to be more willing to be scammed on sites like eBay since my funds are well protected. Important to report within 30 days and film the unboxing of a package just in case you need it as evidence.
👆 also great advice
Great advice and unfortunately necessary, especially as of late. Only thing I’d add is scammers sending bad photoshopped pics of graded books. Recently I had a scammer reach out to me and I was able to do a Google image search and find the exact comics, cert numbers and all, on eBay. This does tie well back into your ask for more pictures. It sucks but where there’s money, there’s shenanigans. Great video dude!
Love it. All the advice given are all true. The buyer definitley has to do their due diligence just as much as the seller when researching. Thanks for sharing! 👍
Excellent advice
Great advice
Great advice man, so far , I have been lucky and haven't been scammed yet. One big thing I noticed about the "money shot" he sent you, was that ALL the big KEY books in that run section, just so happened to be the front issue of the various piles.
Interesting and to the point.
Ty very much for this information. I almost got scammed before I am not too familiar with selling or buying online. I am an older gentleman and I love your channel. I’m subscriber already.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video PCC! Interesting and well constructed.
Thanks!
I find Ebay is pretty secure in that the bay nearly always sides with the buyer. Actually pretty annoying as its far easier for the seller to get ripped off.
Good info bro. Thanks. I like the thumbs up picture idea.
Thanks man 👍🏼
Great content as always. I will definitely be using these for the future when or if I get another FB account.
ZIM!!!!!! 👊🏼 thank you
Great advice! I tend to stick with local purchases on Facebook marketplace. Soooo many people are obviously scammers on there, though. Unfortunately, too many people fall for them. 🤘
Great advice.. I traded to a dealer that I bought from before. I wanted three key issues..and I let my entire comic collection go in trade.. I provided photos on 15 comics out of 69 slabs. Its best to have a history with a dealer , or someone who's been in business for 30 years..😊
The other thing I do is look to see how long they have been a member of ebay if they have low to zero feed back, the times I see someone selling great comics (around £8000 worth) BUT apparently they have been an ebay member for 12 years but have sold nothing and bought nothing and won't answer questions or send extra pictures.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ve been on eBay and Mercari for about three or so years now. Have avoided taking the Facebook plunge for whatever reasons (mostly a little fear). I have a business Facebook page and a personal Facebook page that also is very business centric and wholly unrelated to Comics. I was about to start a new Facebook page specifically for selling Comics and take the plunge. But after watching your video, it appears that I would look like a scammer. Might you be willing to give advice about if I would desire to not use my existing Facebook pages (because they are related to my Primary job) but I want to sell on Facebook? Thx
Yeah. Start a new page. BE TRANSPARENT. Accept protected services. Use good communication.
None of these signs should be taken as PROOF someone is scamming but as red flags in combination with other observations about the seller
We have to use instinct and common sense also. This list is made to raise eye brows and keep you on your toes.
With good communication and transparency without shadiness, youll have a couple authenticated sales, and a trusted page in no time. START A NEW PAGE 👍🏼
Makes sense. Thanks much!
Beware of bait and switchers too. I won an auction where it was named comics and had a graded spiderwoman 1 on main pick then had hulk 101 another hulk and speedracer 1 in the other pics. I won it for like 140 and he only sends the spiderwoman. Claimed it stated it was one of the comics listed. Didn't say that at all
just ask if you can do a video call to tell if the comic is real.
never a bad time to review this unsavory area of the hobby,......sad, but true....
Not sure your age you wouldn't have gotten scammed if you purchased the book when it first came out. I purchased 2 copies for $.40 cents each from my neighborhood store when I was 10 years of age in 1979 and I still own these books today in VG to M condition, with over 3500 other Marvel Silver and Bronze age books.
Perk of being alive then
@@paperchasecomicsnearer to being dead though. I'm a similar age. Unfortunately I'm in the UK and whilst I did buy comics in the early 70's we had nearly value less Black and white magazine format reprints. 😆 im probably out of pocket $100,000 by having the UK versions of all the Marvel bronze age keys like Werewolf #32, Hulk #181,Conan #1 etcetera.
I got scammed a few weeks ago on a TOS 39 I bought the bbook and they sent me a different both , still a 2.0 but not as nice of a book . I did keep the book because it was a good price and he did give me some money back and it was still a CGC 2.0 but it was a case of bait and switch .
This goes for omnibus too lots of scammers
Just as hard to find a buyer who isn’t a scammer. Just saying.
🤔🤔🤔 Very grey area there.
Best is to use your conscience. If someone’s being lazy and dont want to look up values, or are pedaling stolen books that youll never find the original owner… fuck it, take em!
Older lady who inherited something extremely valuable… be a good person.
Its not our job to educate others on this hobby when they have the power to do research, but never speak a lie is my motto i suppose.
How are buyers scamming sellers? Buyers always pay up front or don't receive the books correct?
@@Tosh16 dishonest people on both sides, buyers are liars…I didn’t make that saying up. ✌️👈
Comic Karma. If you are scamming people it will come back around. Good tips in the video. If it's too good to be true, it's prolly a scam. Color touch. Thanks!
Karma is real. 🙏
Also what I see in the whatnot app when they sell there vintage comic books in a Mylar bag and board and they say in great condition and they start showing you closely while in the Mylar bag. So my advice do not fall for that all buyers from whatnot tell them to take it out of the Mylar bag before you buy before bidding or purchase. Cause looks can be deceiving! Well my advice to all buyers!
I totally agree. Sellers will do whatever they can to help sell their inventory, including overgrading a book. It's impossible for us to see the minor flaws in a book when there's a reflective, glossy mylar in front of it. I've bought multiple books that ended up being several grades lower than what was stated by the seller. It really makes you apprehensive to buying books this way.
@@michaelcooper9725 so true that’s why I said tell them to take out of the bag for a closer look even modern books these buyers don’t understand a lot of those exclusives of worthless. Value goes down all it is it’s all bout money now if it’s signed by an artist or writer it all depends but the majority is not good that’s why I buy key books that are old and modern. And those exclusives on whatnot so expensive and not worth it . Learned a lot by looking, observing and listening carefully to what they say. Yeh the way they say it, how they say it. It’s not what to buy it is where, when and how to buy and taking your time in what to buy it. All it is stay safe and be careful.
Classic Grandpa thumb.
Lol 😂
Ask
Not axe. You're too smart for that.
Maybe it was an askident.
Spoken this way for 38 years. Bigger things in my life I can improve on. Thank you though

This One Simple Trick...
Question is what it said, bub.
Don’t call it hobby people in hobby in call it that make fun disrespect you for not using cgc ., you ask question to comic collector /CZcams comic person you offend them with question they do not answer your question ignore your question walk away comic collectors act like baby’s., in hobby people don’t mock you there all comics should be value at same price regardless who grades book you buy book not company who grade book car collectors they grade cars , put card in plastic case held together by magnets it still be worth 10.0 put that same card in another case with screws on it it is still be worth 10.00.,
Batman 2 150.00 not usually reprint it’s mostly bidding war or someone who does not anything on comics., one thing I hate using gocollect eBay value on books what if someone sells amazing Spider-Man 9.8 singed Stan lee for buy it now does that mean amazing Spider-Man 300 is worth 50.?
I got scammed on eBay before Covid ultimate fallout in cgc case that book was in batgirl case cgc take any action on it no they didn’t cgc take action when reholding scam start this year
Thank you.
It’s 2024 how is a person have still grainy pictures you got a 10 year old camera
