6th Sunday after Pentecost (August 4, 2024 / July 22, 2024)
Romans 12:6-14
Matthew 9:1-8
Healing of the Paralytic. After Jesus heals the man, he tells him to rise, take up his bed and go to his house. This command is suggestive of the need for labor after healing, both out of gratitude to God and in order to awaken within ourselves the fullest fruits of the healing. But a deeper meaning can be drawn from the story, which is that God himself makes this labor possible; He inspires it, He enables it, and He makes it possible for us to do things we do not have the strength to do on our own.

Is there holiness and truth outside the church?
zhlédnutí 556Před dnem
As part of our discussion about relics (czcams.com/video/wWqHyUMx70k/video.html), we answer a question about relics outside the church and in general, if there is holiness and truth outside the church. VIDEO: czcams.com/video/QKqVYigz1S0/video.html
Why do we venerate relics? Because it is scriptural and because of the resurrection.

Why do Orthodox venerate relics (bones, clothing, etc., related to a saint)? It's scriptural. It is also because of the resurrection. We do a short catechesis on the ways man was created, the fall in the garden, and the need for the incarnation (*not* primarily because of the fall), the parable of the Good Samaritan (all about the incarnation), and several other things. Only Orthodox baptism is valid. Whoever was not baptized Orthodox, but wants to be in the Church, should be baptized. This applies to everyone, including Catholics both Protestants and others. Because there is only ONE Church. We believe in one Apostolic Council... and not in ...10 churches.

    • @orthodoxnet
      @orthodoxnet Před 6 hodinami

      Thank you. Of course there is no baptism outside of the church, because outside of the church is not in the church. And therefore it is always allowed to baptize someone who is coming to the Orthodox Church. It is true that there are rubrics in our trebnic to allow for chrismation under certain circumstances. In our day the circumstances are basically never present. The circumstances are that a person has had the form of baptism with three immersions in the name of the holy Trinity. And even if a person has had that form, it is not baptism and is never referred to as baptism but rather as the form of baptism. It is possible to fill that empty form through Chrismation, but if this rite is done and baptism is not done, this does not teach that the person's form of baptism was valid, merely that the church has the authority to fill the empty form. The new heresy which is present and increasing because there are many bishops that are mandating it, and because we live in an age where we don’t want to offend anybody, is that baptism of a person who has previously had some form of baptism is forbidden, with the proviso that this is because they are already baptized. This is a change. There’ve been people received by chrismation for many years, but it was always because the church knew that the form of baptism that they had was empty and it was being filled with the grace of God through chrismation. Now, there are priests and Bishops who are saying that baptism is forbidden because a person is ***already baptized***. This is a non sequitur since baptism is only in the church. If a person is baptized in the church, then they are, forgive forbid the odd syntax, in the church, and they don’t need to join the church. Our practice is to always baptize. There is no ambiguity and the teaching is clear.

      My heart goes out to you! Please send me your name by email so that I can add you to my permanent prayer list. And also tell me if you're Orthodox or not. I'll pray for you in either case. There are many things you can do when you have trouble with lust whether it's for someone of the same sex or the opposite sex. Number one is that you should definitely be praying every day with prostrations that God would deliver you from your sins. You should say it explicitly, something like Lord Jesus Christ help me not to lust after other men. If you prefer not to be so blatant you could say Lord Jesus Christ help me to have Chastity today. If you fall into self-abuse or look at pornography or both, you should say the prayers for Purity and I can send them to you if you send me your email address. You should strive to have a regular prayer life. You should strive to confess regularly. I don't know if you can be completely delivered from all of your passions before you die. That is only for a select few but certainly if you struggle against your passions, God Will Save you. My email seraphim@orthodox.net Surround yourself with holy things like the gospels and the lives of the Saints and the psalter. Don't believe the world. The world wants to kill you.
