Children’s sermon: Reading the Scriptures is easy.

We should not “dumb down” the scriptures for children. We can read them, simplifying a few words and explaining them, and the kids catch on really quickly. We want to teach our children how to be moral people, and in part, this is achieved by explaining the scriptures to them, so that they grow to love them. We explain about the righteousness of the Pharisees, anger, and many other things the Lord Jesus Christ taught in Matthew 5:20-26, which we read during the Liturgy on the 1st Wednesday after Pentecost.
