Thanks for creating this. Very informative. May I ask how the trim is being fixed to the drywall (I assume it's drywall!)? Headless pins only, or is there some adhesive on the back of the trim? Seems like there are more nail locations than stud locations, and I'm guessing some verticals aren't on stud locations. If just pins, is there an nailing angle or other approach to ensure no future loosening of the trim from the wall?

The only thing I do different is, I cut the opposite direction, I put the piece on top rather than under, it’s just easier for me

Yup, I absolutely love my Dewalt pin nailer. It’s the only cordless that’ll shoot 1-1/2” pins, and quickly. Never had a misfire yet. •I bought a cordless HPT Metabo years ago (because that was the only cordless pin nailer you can get at that time) and it misfired from the very first day, it’s on the shelf of my garage… somewhere.

Yes sir, I use a piece of maple from a cabinet filler. •Also I buy shims and rip them in half while they are still in the plastic wrap, (I bought them in bulk from Lowe’s when they were on sale for $.39 a pack!)

My house already has a 1x4 against the ceiling and then the crown molding (same you are using) against it and the wall. I have to match the existing. Would you also use pins and glue to hold up the 1x4 on the ceiling? 1x4 16' boards are pretty heavy and not sure the pin nails will hold it while glue dries so thought I would see if you have already done this. Maybe put nails in a V? Thanks!

The end result is beautiful but it wasn’t easy getting there. Is a 3 piece crown always that difficult or did the octagonal ceiling make it exponentially harder? I’m going to watch your other 3 piece crown video to find out.

Great work and great videos! When installing the 1x6's that lay flat on the ceiling, how are they anchored? Nail only or some type of adhesive as well? Also, for these boards that run parallel to the joists above, it would seem that some of these boards might not be hitting a joist above just due to the layout position, so how do you securely attach those to the ceiling if they don't hit a joist? Thank you!

Hey Tony great tutorial on hanging crown. It covers more realistic situations that commonly happen. Like the corners that are not only not squared but they curve out and in too. They're not flat. So thanks for your shim technique.

Always enjoy your videos. They're honest, real world, practical and smart. You make more noise with your tools than your mouth. Hard to find that work ethic anymore

It seems like he inverted baseboard around the perimeter but didn’t carry it inside of the boxes. Seems strange. Why not carry through into all the boxes?
