On Trial By Ice by s314ke, I discovered a (new to me) mechanic where I tap steer, then add accelerate, then release both & repeat ... to maintain a very specific trajectory. On Track 2 of Jan-TM's Tiny Ice map (the green map), I found an alternate strategy to beat world record. This is one of the Royal Maps right now (Feb 24, 2024). I hunted for 5 minutes in a Royal match, then for 5-10 minutes in solo. The grinding stats recap only shows the solo hunting.

Thumbnail idea is nice, but I got a couple of things: - Font is a bit hard to read on the right side. Maybe pick a sans serif that is easier to read. And white could have aworked well as a contrasting color - the two pictures are visually very similiar. Its difficult to guess what they are trying to convey for me without knowing

- May 10, 2024: I've played with this mechanic on other ice maps, and it seems useful for rescuing some mistakes. I could envision a map that forces you to use the tapping rhythm rather than a regular ice slide to keep an ice slide with less turning. It's really hard to do though, so usually i just don't even bother trying. - May 10, 2024: Title updated bc I was embarassed by the previous title but also had almost no views.

From trackmania exchange. If you're on console, I don't think you can use tmx. You could look for "s314ke" in clubs, as that's the author of the map. Maybe they uploaded it that way. If you're on PC, you'll probably wanna get openplanet for plugins & there's a tmx plugin.

It was NOT easy for me! I beat it, but a couple of the skips were really tough. Especially the last cp, which required a lil squeeze through a spot you don't quite fit.
Notes: - I don't think I'm going to finish the video, but let me know if you want me to upload an unedited completion of the checkpoint skipping run. - One clip is cut from a sqweegel_tm showcase video. Link in the description. - Award this map on tmx, its great as intended, or for cp skips. Link in description.
Notes: - Low effort vid, recorded on my phone for friends. Didn't even wanna open OBS lol - I've been eliminated & am spectating another player - The section after cp4 requires little ziggy. A single left turn can get you through with the right line - I'm usually div 27-32 & I was div 10 today!!! :D
Some of these moves are clean, but i can see a lot of room for improv. I think it's hilarious, and i never thought to reverse it; what a terrifying track when you flip it
Yeah, it could be a much better run! I think I could get my drive from the start to the finish down to 1 minute with better driving and a different line for skipping the last checkpoint. And I think I could get the reverse run close to one minute. Idk if a sub 3m is possible, but under 3:30 should be.
Found a new setup for skipping the last cp, where I don't have to turn around and backup. That got me a 1:06 for the first leg. 2:48 to run through all the checkpoints. And a good last leg, had me on pace for a 3:50 or faster. But that was copium timer with lots of respawns, and some bad driving. 3:30 is almost certainly possible. 3:00 might be. EDIT: Got a 1:22 copium for collecting all CPs, still with multiple slowdowns. I think sub-3 is theoretically possible, but too much skill for me, plus some "luck" in a couple spots.
Notes: - When I say "checkpoint 4" I meant cp 6. - I should have re-done the audio for the last minute or two, bc I was commentating a little behind the pace of the edits. But I got tired of editing, so I just left it. I would have never finished the video if I tried to make it perfect. - I'm not really trying to be a CZcamsr. I just had a lot of fun doing this reverse-run, so I was excited to share. Also, I do some local journalism, and it might be nice to develop my video editing skills and do video journalism. - I sadly am a human and not a real bear.
UPDATES: - I do not take any credit for others' attempt strategies. At time of seeing my record beaten, my video only had 4 views, which was probably me and my friends. - DAM_TM got a 9.130 using spin forward-right, a much cleaner version of my strategy - R4DIAXO got a 9.104 using my theorized strat of backup & turn, but they went backup-left. The backup turnaround was much faster, but since they went back-left toward the inside-line, their ice slide was delayed - I got an 8.937 with a backup-right strategy, with an earlier ice slide than R4DIAXO could do from the other side.
Oh gosh, the quality is TERRIBLE. Ah well. I'll render to a different format next time.

Turn off click on increment because it will make you click every time your die increase in value
