Delmont Industries LTD is all about cars,snowmobiles, boats, anything that has to do with the outdoors. I explain several gas saving tips, and demonstrate ways to improve a cars performance. I also showcase classic snowmobiles and my classic cars the models of which are in the title. Delmont 88's were produced for only 2 years in 1967 and 1968 by Oldsmobile.

Alpena MI Snowmobile show 2024

We traveled through a blizzard and whiteout conditions taking 9 hours to go all 261 miles to finally make it to Alpena, MI for the 10th Annual Alpena Trail Roamers snowmobile show. First Watervilet MI Snowmobile show!

Attending the first ever vintage snowmobile show in Watervilet, MI. This show is probably the furthest south in Michigan, but it happens to be about 20 minutes from my house. The show organizers did a great job for their first time! all in all there were about 34 Sleds registered.

Finally some cold Temps have arrived! I had to move the Olds as we are hosting Thanksgiving. Of course it was 26 degrees the night before. let's see how it is since we've replaced the tank and fuel line.

That’s the same model as my very first car which I bought in 1971 I think. It had 425 hp.

That's a great car. Besides the questionable interior color? I applaude you guys for the great video on the Delta 88 and I used to own one of those cars too. And they were awesome to drive.
I can't believe that you changed the interior like that, to that color blue? I would have used the Oldsmobile color? It's a Lucerne mist with metal flake mixed in the color and it is a beautiful color. My Cutlass is that color and it is the factory color
The original interior was a dull grey. If it was the Lucerne mist, I would have kept it. But instead I opted for a more Pontiac blue. The 2 Delmonts we have are all original which will stay that way.
Wow that's great! I would have never thought that I would see someone who restored one of those cars and I was glad to see you were very devoted to the restoration project. I used to own one of those cars myself. I've owned 3 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 and a Delta 88. They were the best driving cars and they made you feel like you were on your couch cruising down the road and I regret not keeping them

ty for making this video, i've learned that the older vintage equipment was just built with a whole different level of quality and care than today's mass produced plastic garbageware (also built to be repairable by owner). I picked up an old electrolux on marketplace a year ago and it has been my favorite vacuum so far because it WORKS and i love the design of it, unlike today's cheap vacuums that are inefficient and built to break. don't think I could ever go back to a modern vacuum after using my old electrolux.

The choke maybe stuck open. Meh..b II t I can also hear a whine when it idles like maybe the alt is going bad?? Could also be the transmission these were Notoriously bad transmissions I always Hated that turbo 350 junk..the.best olds trans. Was the jetaway hydro 4spd.which was so bulletproof that Mercedes actually bought itfrom.olds..the guy still use a version.of it today the 4 spd. Was only made for 3 years 57 thru59\60. Biggest mistake GM ever made was to sell that wonderful trans off..ugh no wonder GM failed it was stupid. cRap like selling off possibly the best trans ever made ..it was a truly indestructable trans. Ive owned 2 a 57 and 58 neither one ever had one issue..except on ext cold days ..every so often on a freezing day it would sometimes not shift out of2nd till it warmed up.
I used to own a Belmont 88 one question why did this model use two different tailights? One set looks like two squares per side the OTHER version had one rectangle per side ( which looked way better I had that version but does anyone know why they had two separate styles for the same model??

I have the same one. It worked great and when I changed the carburetor I forgot how the linkage went.
maybe just find the a spring on that one which if you viewed it from the front is probably to the left and attatched with a metal rod or something, pull it back while it's running or just tie the lever on the back handle down so it'll run and then vice crip it back so it'll run higher idle

How fast would these go. I found an old skee horse in real nice condition for $300. Considering buying it to restore and put a custom 2 tone metal flake paint job on it like the old jet boats had in the day. I restored customized and painted bikes and class cars for 30 years so it would be a fun project and look awesom too. Are parts hard to get for these and is it possible to get a bigger motor for them. I wish I could find one of the old experimental evenrude rotary motors .
Honestly they don't go very fast. Maybe 25-30 mph tops although I've never clocked it. $300 isn't bad if it's in good shape. Parts are easy to find but you have to know where to look. A 2 tone metal flake paint would look really cool!!! Tge biggest motor these came with was 25 horse. Although I don't immagibe it would be difficult putting a 32 horse engine in that came on the Johnson Rampage. The exhaust would br tricky though. . .only other option and I don't know of anyone that has done this would be to put one of the 35 in 45 horse OMC rotary engines in. With sone gearing changes I'd be willing to be it would fly!
@delmontindustriesltd7501 the rotary motors are probably hard to come by. It was a short production run. Have you seen the evinrude rotary outboard video. They were some wicked motors hitting 220hp. They sure whipped the mercury team. Mercury did everything possible to have them outlawed and banned from racing. Great video
They aren't that hard to find. They did make them for 3 years. Only problem is they were so temperamental that if you find one, they normally need new wiper seals and or side plates. I have 2 currently in pieces waiting rebuilding. Yes, that rotary outboard was insane!

Yeah you don't see them very often. Especally a nice display like was there.
That Ski Whiz was also branded Massey Ferguson. The Chapperal was a major innovator in the industry. Aluminum tunnels, independent front suspension. The Skidaddler was eventually branded Harley Davidson.

Love this video...hearing those Oldses cranking w/o starting and you pumping the gas. I do like hearing them fire up after a bit as well. Your model train layout is great!
I have a 04 gmc safari, my passenger headlight has wiring issues, I had it fixed but it’s doing it again, just giving it a good hit would work but not anymore so I’m gonna have to get in there and figure out why it’s happening again! Also I’m glad there is videos like this still for my type of van to kinda walk you through it.
