So I want you all to know right this second that I am not good at speaking Green Hmong fluently! It is hard for me because I am so used to White Hmong. I have to think and make the switches with patterns in my head before I speak! It's a toughy! I never spent too much time learning it because I mostly spoke with White Hmong people, but making this video definitely makes me want to practice it m...

Here are the basic consonants. Let me know if I didn't explain one of them very well. I'll try to help you out as best as I can. Lol, not an english "y" on "f." Sorry about the mix ups. Didn't even notice I said said english "y" at that part. My bad.

This video is to help those who want to learn how to read and write Hmong. I know there are tons of videos out there that teach you how, but some have different teaching styles, some charge money, and some aren't clean. Not "daim choj," it's "dlaim choj" other than that your Green dialect is killer.

Love this video so much. Your Leng Mong is really good. Some pointers are that we Moob Leeg don't call ourselves Moob Ntsuab. Moob Ntsuab only live in China. There's a lot of history as to why but it's a lot and hopefully you already know. The Moob Leeg that say txwv are the Moob Sib who are a divergent dialect group from the Moob leeg. They live everywhere but mainly in old xeev Moos Pheeb and Xaam Neua. The black Moob leeg from Yen Bai Vietnam are also Moob Sib. There's also another divergent group from the Moob Leeg called the Moob Sua (some people call them Moob Dlub but they don't call themselves that). This group is even farther diverged from the Moob Leeg but the dialect is similar.

Collin, great job. To help you understand a little more about moob leeg. The differences that you see in the moob leeg dialect like the word "txiv or txwv" that you see. All this is base on which regions in Laos that group of moob leeg are from.

To my understanding "moos" is also a borrowedword which means hour in thai/loatian used in conjuction with "khwwb" is the english equavalence of "o'clock". [example- yim moos khwwb > eight oclock]. the last time i ever heard that compound word being thrown around in a conversation was when i was still living in thailand. this video is very concise yet thorough. you did an amazing job both at speaking and understanding the language. i am a native hmong speaker fluint in both green and white dialect (24 years of experience) you got my seal of approval 😁👏 🍾

White Hmong language is easy to learn as you peel banana. Green Mong language is hard to learn as you peel coconut. My mom is White Hmong and my dad is Green Mong. My mom and I sometime have hard time to understand my dad. I sometime making joke to my mom about tug tsuv call tus tsov, txuj nyuv call txoj nyov, tug puj call tus poj, lub ntuj call lub ntoj. My dad told me that "ntlajteb" means "universe" and "nplajteb" means "earth."
