    Spray some aerokroil or on blaster on it and let it sit for awhile, they do make a special ring removal tool otherwise a flat head screwdriver and a hammer does the trick, just don’t create any sparks and start a fire

    I wasnt looking forward to dropping my tank with the welds on the bolts broken so i did this, a little off with my measurements but it should still come out. Just to get the ring off and piece out of the line that broke

  • @verohandymike
    @verohandymike Před 8 měsíci

    I did this to my 2012 Cadillac SRX. Of course it's a different vehicle so I had to cut a different spot, two in fact as the Cadi has a pump and sending unit separate. You would not believe the amount of work you otherwise have to do to drop the fuel tank, including taking the entire exhaust off the car. The government loves to mandate things to car manufacturers, they should mandate that all cars have access doors under seat to fuel pump.

  • @chuckstark4820
    @chuckstark4820 Před 10 měsíci

    It only takes an hour to drop the tank and take out the old pump and put the new one in. Lol and that's putting a tank back in with that time. The way you did it I just called lazy. You might have shaved 10, 15 minutes off the time.

  • @martythemainman
    @martythemainman Před 10 měsíci

    Hey everyone, I'd be real careful about hammering a screwdriver on that metal. You sure don't want to spark anything with all that residual gas there and a full tank... At least get the ring loose before you take the lines loose and get gas all over the place

  • @jacko2332
    @jacko2332 Před 10 měsíci

    😂 they use to make cars with this hack in mind but they got greedy and want your money so they try to make it hard on mechanics that they start creating special tools and putting extra bullshit in cars so you bring them back to the dealership and get rammed on prices for simple jobs. Why I only buy cars from 2013 and back

    getting my fuel filter done trmw its just died today. but when the time comes to get the fuel pump done i just might need to do this. Caddy should of made that fuel pump location an actual access port. instead of having to drop the gas tank from underneath. dam the more you know

    Once again we see someone trying to fix the truck the wrong way. First of all the way he did is very dangerous. If you're messing with a fuel pump that you can't see through a steel floor the Sparks can cause explosions remember you're working with gas gas is very high a flammable. Second of all if you get a gas leak at the fuel pump the fumes can enter the driver's cabin. Third of all if the vehicle happens to have a gas line leak you can cause death to anyone that's in that vehicle. For but not least if the exhaust system has in the leak it can enter into the vehicle through that hole that you made. If you ever have problem with funding please talk to the garage and see if they can make a payment with you to do it the right way if your family is not value to you do it this way other words please be safe don't listen to these mechanics want to be mechanics. 🤕🤕🤕

  • @carlosmorales5480
    @carlosmorales5480 Před rokem

    If you ever cut a floorboard to change fuel pump you're basically attempting to kill your family on a rollover you can get gas in the cabin if the fuel line starts to leak you can get a lot of fumes in that car and we don't want to see the results so please do not do anything stupid like this gentleman thank you sincerely yours a real mechanic 👎👎🤕🤕

    Where you left the studs in the old pump. I left one of the water pump bolts in the old pump. Luckily after watching your video, I asked my son in law to bring the old pump back to me. I got the bolt out of the pump. I pulled another bolt out of my other blazer and put it in the bottom left but had a leak in that spot. It is the next morning and I am going to RTV the bolt that came out of that spot and put it back in to see if that fixes my leak. I will update for those reading the comments. I am wondering if this bolt is different from 2 of the other 4 as the top right bolt is different from all of the other bolts.

    • @jamesmaddox40
      @jamesmaddox40 Před rokem

      Also on taking the studs out of the water pump. I put the piece the fan bolts to in a bench vise. I put one of the nuts on upside down, ran it on about 3/4 of an inch. I ran another nut on correctly until they hit against one another. I put a wrench on the one closest to the pump, held it so it would not turn, took a socket and tightened the outside nut against it. I then loosened the stud by turning the nut closest to the pump counter clockwise. Once it was loosened I used the socket and wrench to break the two nuts loose and repeated on the remaining 3 studs. I took out two studs, rotated the plate in the vise and took out the remaining two studs and put them in the new pump.

    This video and the comment section highlights why some people shouldn't be allowed to repair anything. As an automotive tech with many year in the industry, I have found plenty of "shortcuts" and have taken advantage of them. That being said, if your shortcut involves butchering new part or cutting the vehicles floor, then its not a shortcut but a hackjob. The time it took this guy to cut a hole in the floor, an experienced tech would have had the tank out, and back in.
