how is rebuilding these including the engine ever worth it?
doesn't it cost well over 10k and tons of work, which is more than half the value of a used one in working condition with minor problems here and there?

Ambitious puzzle project . Shame you could not get to this before they tore into like this. I see too many of these vans in that condition in the junk yard.
I'm looking forward to the day we see EV vans of this size in the market with no transmissions and regenerative braking.

You might get a hold a man named Vehcor here on You Tube he has rebuilt one of these Vans he may know where you can get some parts for this Van
