just got mine yesterday, I renewed but unless they fix the stamp issue I'm not renewing again. I would rather have 1 small wooden stamp that was easy to stamp. Or even NO stamp since I have thousands of stamps. Maybe an extra roll of washi instead of a stamp. The papers are always great- oh and I tried to use those letters- ugh what a mess, thanks as always. I always like to see what others think about the boxes.

What type glue gun are you using? What is anti static power?

I didn’t subscribe to it this month and I’m glad I didn’t. Only the one stamp and that’s disappointing. I think they have done much better boxes. Have you purchased one of the grabbie boxes (they look good) also the Cora creates boxes look good as well. Thanks for showing this box, I think I will see what next month’s is like xx

Charcoal, not my fave. Interestingly I love drawing with grease pencils. I believe they’re wax based, very soft wax. They layer beautifully and they keep your compositions uncomplicated. Some times we artists get too fussy and focused on detail… Regarding the blending brush; I am a fine artist by profession and a hobby crafter, ANY tool you use to create fine art is a fine art tool!!! I sometimes use kitchen tools to move paint…so…😊

Those spool shaped die cuts are perfect for winding two or three washi tape samples around. I include samples into journals and travel collage kits. It’s great because they’re flat

That tag that was shaped like a thread spool at around 7 minutes could be folded in half to make a whale tail tab.

I have a very small channel ( using a different account) and while my iPhone has a wonderful picture quality it doesn’t have a whole lot of versatility when filming.

Hello! This is exciting… as soon as I saw your video posted, I walked out to the mailbox and YAY - my YCS June box was inside! After opening everything and checking it out, I arranged it in a big rectangle to take the monthly picture that I will eventuallly print 2”x3” that goes next to the business card for the month (Jan-Mar, Apr-June, July-Sept, Oct-Dec - 4 pages)… anyway… I was excited then to watch your unboxing and hear your comments. Isn’t it a phenomenal box this month? I love it! Without going back through the last 2 1/2 years of journals / contents, I’m confident saying that this box is in my TOP 5 favorites for sure! I love the YCS items this month especially the patterned papers… the stamp is gorgeous (I couldn’t get the plastic off but one oddity was that the rubber wasn’t connected to the foam correctly but I was able to easily pull it off and place it back on - the right way LOL… I can see me using that stamp and enjoying coloring it in… I’d rather have 1 large beautiful stamp than a bunch of tiny stamps I will never use again… I love all the extras this month even though what I thought was handmade paper isn’t handmade (my patterns match yours exactly) - I love the designs and feel of them. I am SO glad I decided to get these curated boxes again… Since your last month’s unboxing I was able to do the 6 double-page spreads for both January and February that I really enjoyed doing… I’m hoping to do another month at least every other weekend. I was also able to start a mixed media project which is using PaperArtsy products - 30 flat cards that are 3.25”x4. 75” that fit in a Tin… I used my Fresco paints and painted both sides of them using a brayer…. I stamped images on just 3 of them so far. My plan is to do 3 cards for each of the PaperArtsy designers that I have stamps for… It felt so wonderful to use my favorite paints again! Pretty cool that you received 2 extra papers but then a bummer that you were missing one of the art papers… I guess you’re 1 ahead??? 😊 I think of you whenever I see lovely packaging that can be reused! yikes, this critique hit us hard in the feels. We had a great response to our January box that also had charcoal and pastels, which lead us to sourcing the items for this box. We'd really recommend checking out our school videos here on youtube to make sense of things we include in our boxes. While testing this box we noticed that you have to shave quite a bit off the Nitram sticks, which is why we included the hero arts brush to dip into that shaved powder and apply it with a softer touch (similar to using your finger but without the skin oil you had mentioned). We're doing our best to tap into what mediums result in incredible art from our audience, but sometimes we miss the mark. This is great feedback and it will help us curate better boxes in the future. Speaking of the future, next month is an explosion of color... so please don't give up on us yet. Next month might be the most value, color variety, and unique tools we've ever shipped.

Those little sticker flowers peel very easily if you use a "picker" stick. A metal pencil like with a sharp picker on the end. Can't remember the actual name... You can also roll the bottom up and the sticky part will separate from the film it's attached to.

I definitely wasn't thrilled with this box...I expected more of a summer color themed box....

I'm going to look up some charcoal drawing tutorials and see what happens. I probably wouldn't have bought these materials in the store. I'm trying to have some fun and chill out:)

Oh no! 😱 More messy supplies. Nice unboxing though. I think it sounds like I have the same tactile issues that you have. Although during my 100-day project on Instagram, I revisited some previously messy SketchBoxes - oil pastels, chalk pastels, pan pastels, … And I actually surprised myself. I will try (insert long-suffering sigh here). 😞

Your little black storm cloud made me laugh. This is a horrible box. The worst since the liquid graphite. Ugh. I would prefer gouache. I might have to cancel my subscription if they send out any more charcoal sticks. How much charcoal do we need. It lasts forever because I don’t use it. 😂

I'll be honest i'm kinda done with charcoal. I also don't understand getting the two types, they basically work the same? Just one set has the standard wood barrel. China markers, blending brush and sanding board are cool though, all three new to me.

I agree we get too much charcoal and graphite. Time to switch it up. I’ve been getting SketchBox for three years and would like paints and gouache.

This months box looks pretty great. I still haven’t received Aprils box or even gotten the email that Mays has been sent out. March and Aprils was disappointing not sure when I will receive Aprils box but I would like May’s😁 . And if Junes is nice at least I’d get 2 out of the four I’d actually use. Thanks for your video and the work you put into it so we get that sneak peek of what treasures to hopefully look forward to!😀

The Pentel water brush has long been my fave. I’ve tried many brands and Pentel has the best water control. Others let out too much uninvited water.

Hi… Hard to believe that it’s that time again… I had procrastinated on getting more YCS boxes again after getting Jan - APR 2024 and still not doing anything with them beyond looking over the contents and taking photos. Between the quantity of the items being slightly reduced and the price of the boxes slightly increasing, I was torn as to continuing with them despite having the first 4 months of the year. Since I really like this month’s curation which I’m calling “Vintage Ephemera” and it will beautifully coordinate with Tim Holtz’s style products, I decided to jump off the fence and ordered 4 months and then Lord willing, I’ll order the other 4 months of 2024 for Sept - Dec… Now… I need to get busy to catch up! Regardless of being behind, I’m still going to continue as I have the last 2 years and will do 6 pages every month… although… I’m thinking of doing the initial 2 pages for each of the months where I use at least 1 of every item included but then skipping the other 4 pages for now and I can work those in later… not sure… Thanks for sharing the unboxing! Looks like mine will arrive tomorrow. I’m relieved since seeing the contents, especially considering the price increase. I’m not sure I will continue subscribing, even though this month is such a good one. I have so much I still need to use. My favorite way to use the small papers, like the square newspaper ones this month, is to create master boards. Also, the small themed stickers are great for embellishing said master boards. Like you and so many others, the packaging is as exciting as the contents. I struggle using the vellum papers, whatever their size.

I always get SO excited when mine shows up- got it today too. I took some kraft cardstock, did some ink smooshing with Oxide inks just used some of the elements to make a "design" on the 4x5.25 kraft piece. -it was fun, now it will go on a card-- I always like to make a card right away when I get the kit. Yes, I loved all the stamps, they stamped great. tfs

Hi! Such a cute idea! We have so many of those adorable boxes from past YCS curated collections although I have the original contents in most of mine. However… I am toying with the idea of storing some of those ephemera pieces in the old style photo albums with the “magnetic” pages. I’ve played with it some with an old 3ring album from my Mom but haven’t committed to it yet although I liked the idea enough to buy two new albums that aren’t 3ring from Amazon. I’m struggling with the “order” to put stuff inside! LOL I will let you know when I get done fighting with myself about it! Thanks for sharing your creativity and inspiration! Have a great day! 🙂

Hello… Thanks for sharing the lovely Traveler’s Notebook Journal - I’ve never made one before. I enjoyed that you had gone through the journal to previously decide what design elements you wanted to add. For me, the ‘thinking’ stage is WAY longer than the actually ‘doing’ stage. This YCS box had a lot of wonderful tile/mosaic elements that worked beautifully against the mostly subdued pages of the journal and the washi tape was perfect to coordinate with that magazine page! I will look forward to playing with my YCS boxes SOON!!! Thanks again and have a great day!!! 🙂
