Keep the original as the base, you keep those epic riffies, Nik spices it up with his own, whilst Chris brings in his drumming showmanship. It'd be the best cover for a boss theme in DOOM. "Drop E is the Drop C of the drop A guitars" it shouldn't make sense but it does make perfect sense.

To me at first blush, the pitch shifted tone has more overtones, presence, characteristic response, and penetrating quality, where as the drop tune has more blend, rumble, and mud that you would expect with the low tuning. I guess it would just depend on what you're looking for.......
