It's cool how guitar companies are finally catching on to the fact that extended range players are getting sick of just having the strat shape the only brand i could think of that did production models with different shapes before solar started doing it was bc rich with the lucky 7 and 8 string warlocks and V shapes but they were discontinued ages ago
I own one of those lucky 7 v’s. Now dean also did it and before Bc rich on their ML Modifier series guitars.

Same here. I have five guitars that I've made in their guitar builder. Choosing which one I'll eventually get is gonna be tough lol
They're still pretty great value given what prices other MIK guitars are selling for these days.
Saved up for one for a MINUTE, got a custom and it instantly out of the box was the best guitar ive ever played. I swear to you, the three friends of mine who have played the one I got, have all since gotten their own. Most of us have a diablo and I can’t suggest any other guitar moee

That "vowely" sound is actually in relation to how close the bridge pickup is to the bridge/saddles. If you put most other pickups in there, it'd probably sound the same. It's surprising how this isn't talked about more on 7 and 8 string guitars. It took me years to figure this out myself, hahaha. Several un-needed pickup installations.
There's a sweet spot for say, that "Meshuggah snarl." In the FTM33 and M80M, the bridge LOOKS super close, but the saddle itself sits back a little bit more on the lower strings.
The KM7 from Schecter for example, also has a bit of that "vowel," and that's because of the bridge pickup placement.
For an experiment: Crank a saddle forward, more vowel. Crank it back, less vowel. There's probably frequency science of some kind there. Very interesting stuff.

Oh man you HAVE to see TAS live. Their live mix is banging and Vincent sounds better than ever. I've seen them four times since 2021 and it's always been a good show. Lots of stage diving too, if you can see them at a place with no barricade. I know you're a stand in the back kinda guy, but it's worth doing at least once.
They also change their setlists for each tour so it's great to see them multiple times. Sometimes they'll even do full albums and two night double features too, like their tour that's going on now.

Although the space between those pups is obnoxious! You could legitimately fit another pair of humbuckers and they'd probably have special perfect middle child energy.
3750 by Acacia Strain was ahead of its time. People used to come around to my house just to listen to it. I would suggest they bring beer and pretend to like me (neither worked).
I'd set the album going and wait for 'Passing the Pencil Test' and just watch the reactions.
I remember my Dad (who sadly passed last year) once yelling "No CARTWHEELING in the house!" During one Acacia group initiation ceremony.
But... Then the people would leave... and I would return to practicing my yoyo because that's what being 17 in 2004 was like!!!

Hey Andrew....Another sick guitar. I'm currently waiting on my new legator ninja x 8 x series with a royal purple Call buckeye resin infused finish. With evertuune, locking tuners, Fishman Fluence pickups and a kill switch. I will probably be the first person to unbox the x series 8 string on YT. I'm super excited man. I will be in Boston on June 11th to say hello to Carcosa and Archspire. I'll be the old bald guy who will never stop grinding. Got new music to share soon. We are Cvlt Day 21 and we have a video dropping soon. Can't wait to go to this show. What a line up!!! Much love.

This tone reminded me a lot of the Lover/Devil album tone by Sworn In.
I had a King baritone guitar that Chris from Sworn In sold me (that they used for drop E) and it sounded exactly like this, he said that he thought it sounded kinda nasally due to the pickup/bridge placement.

Balaguer has been in my sights for the past while now, weirdly I JUST got my LTD EX-7 Black Metal in last week after waiting for over 3 years. Great guitar and well worth the wait, but at that point I completely forgot that I ordere it lol

I remember back in the early 2000's pretty much EVERY 7 string had that "vowel sound" as you say. It made playing some guitars not fun cuz it made things sound off, like it didnt fit the other notes. Not saying anything bad about this guitar, it looks sick and sounds the same. I would consider it in the future when I buy another 8 string.
i have an esp ex 7 which has a 27 inch scale and because the size of the body and we both play classical so it feels like a longer scale.
I'm eyeing on Tartarus one, but yeah being custom it's expensive though. Glad at least Solar offers X for cheaper with non-floyd bridge.

Balaguer makes several interesting extended range shapes (baritone and 7+ string) and has turned out to be one of the better values as well as holding their value, especially in those market slices.
I'm adding this to the list of candidates though. I may not be able to wait until I can afford that X body.
Maybe hit up Ortega and get an 8 string classical; demo a Javier Reyes sig model? Agile makes fanned fret/multiscale extended range acoustics as well.
I have a couple 7 string acoustics and I love them...8 string classical gets you into Brahms territory; they're literally called a "Brahms Guitar" if you're talking to a orchestral/symphonic musician.
