Gathering Ling Qi - 回春氣功 - Huí Chūn Qìgōng
Huí Chūn Qìgōng can be directly translated as - Return to Spring Qigong - the word Spring here is a metaphor for youth, health and vitality - for easy understanding we can call this practice - Longevity Qigong. In the above video, we demonstrate exercise Number 4 of our Huí Chūn Qìgōng Form which is named - 'Gathering the Ling Qi', Ling Qi - 靈氣- refers to the Refined Spiritual Energy. In Taoist Inner Alchemy, we Cultivate Ling Qi in the Middle Dantian to begin the process of moving from a Common Human to an Immortal Being....
Ling Qi is the formless order of creation, that is the "medium" of the duality constituted by the opposite forces of the universe - these opposite forces we term as - Yin Yang in Taoist Cosmology. Ling Qi can be thought of as that which empowers Sacred States of Being or Divine Power. Ling Qi is the "medium" - between Yin and Yang.
Huí Chūn Qìgōng was developed to build up and fill the body with the life force energy (Qi) and to rebuild the vitality (Jing), Bringing the body and mind into balance - helping to extend life, build health and develop inner harmony.
The original name of Huí Chūn Qìgōng is known as - Hua Shan Yang Sheng Hui Chun Qigong - 花山 养生 回春氣功.
This Qigong was developed sometime during the Jin-Yuan period (1115 - 1368) by Hao Datong 郝大通 (1140-1213) the founder of the Hua Shan school of Taoist Practice. Throughout the history of its practice, Huí Chūn Qìgōng was always taught under very strict, hidden and secret conditions - only taught behind closed doors in the temples.
In our Community Workshop on June 9, 2024 - we will practice the Opening Movement of Huí Chūn Qìgōng to harmonize the 3 Dantian Centers and deeply explore exercise number 4 - 'Gathering the Ling Qi' .

      Thank you for your comment. Very nice to meet you. 🙏 Based on our experience, I would say there are many different sets of exercises, variations and styles of Qigong which are called - 'Hui Chun Qigong'. We should look at Taoist Qigong as a very large tree - there are many different branches - but one common root. Different Teachers and different Lineages often practice different versions or styles of the movements. As far as I know, there is no formal standard of Hui Chun Qigong Practice. By my learning, generally the various styles are split into two groups - Huashan Mountain Style which is said to be the origin of the practice and later the Wudang Mountain branch. It is taught that Hui Chun Qigong spread to Wudang from Huashan through the practice of Cloud Wandering by the Huashan Taoists. Our Hui Chun Qigong Practice comes from the Lineage of Master Xu Shaoyuan. Master Xu was a Senior Quan Zhen - Dragon Gate Taoist who grew up and was trained in Pre-Communist China on Wudang Mountain by his father - who was a Senior Taoist Priest. During the Cultural Revolution Master Xu’s father sent him to the QingCheng Mountains in Western China to reside in deep seclusion under apprenticeship with an Accomplished Taoist Inner Alchemy Master - further deepening Master Xu’s Taoist learning. Our Hui Chun Qigong Practice is a wonderful legacy of Taoist Longevity Qigong from the tradition as passed down to us from Master Xu. While Master Xu was a highly accomplished Taoist - he taught very few students and was not well known in the public. ☯

    Thank your for this great instruction. I have a question. You say on the last excersize tthat the rasing power comes from the opposite food. Is there simultaniously the descending power from the downward moving hand going down from the other hand the other food?

    • @ImmortalArtsAcademy
      @ImmortalArtsAcademy Před 6 měsíci

      @ralfstofer8609 - I would say it is relative and changes the longer one practices - fundamental movement drills such as the 'Four Powers' - rise / drill / overturn / fall - need to be trained in combination with a program of 'Standing Meditation' - the Standing Meditation will cause changes to the physical structure and the soft tissues in the body - which will allow for a different unified connection within the pathways of force that travel from the legs, into the waist, and express through the arms -- my advise is to not overcomplicate the practice and to invest in repetition - the change and development is a compounding process that takes place over time. We plan to offer an intensive online training course this year in 'Hsing Yi Neigong' - it will be a very deep and complete offering.... be on the look out....☯

    Much of this philosophy was in ancient Greece but people have forgotten it, like the concept of the four humours and how they can be manipulated by diet, how imbalance of the four humours causes sickness, how one should follow the seasons, how different humors predominant at different stages of life. A person is born in spring, reaches their peak in summer, starts to deteriorate in autumn and reaches old age and death in winter. Spring and summer is seen as masculine whilst autumn and winter is seen as feminine. The ancient greeks also seen during old age a predominance of dryness and coldness so they would counter the dryness by taking olive oil mixed with honey and they would counter the coldness by eating warming foods in old age

    • @ImmortalArtsAcademy
      @ImmortalArtsAcademy Před rokem

      Thank you for your question. It is not easy to try and learn from a video. Best is to learn in person or in a real time lesson. My advise is to take one practice you like and feel attracted to from our CZcams videos - and perform that sequence daily for a minimum of 100 days or longer - do the same practice everyday.... This repetition of a single practice sequence is the first steps to understanding your body and the process of developing Internal Strength.... There are many details on breath training and use of the mind that can only be taught in person - so when learning from a video, realise there can be some limitations in learning and development..... Wish you all the very best in your practice....

    • @ImmortalArtsAcademy
      @ImmortalArtsAcademy Před rokem

      Thank you for your question. The first stage of development is Transformation of the Physical body - this is important to understand and focus on in the beginning. Practicing with the monthly or yearly cycles must be applied and introduced by the Teacher with the correct timing based on observing the students growth and inner development. One of the first and simple applications around time can be to practice during one or all of the 'Four Periods of Observation' during the day. These Four Periods are - 5:00am - 7:00am // 11:00am - 13:00pm // 17:00pm - 19:00pm // 23:00pm - 1:00am --- this is a first step in Inner Alchemy Practice to begin to attune and harmonise with the change of Yin and Yang in the day - and begin the Cultivation of the Inner Elixir. We wish you the very best in your Practice....

    • @ImmortalArtsAcademy
      @ImmortalArtsAcademy Před rokem

      @sumi8681 - There can be many different physical experiences and energetic sensations one can have with regular practice. Often trembling and shaking can be a sign of the nervous system releasing stored tension -- also trembling and shaking can be from the use of the smaller connective muscles which are not normally used in daily life. When meridian channels begin to open, there can be a lack of strength internally - so as energy begins to circulate, one may experience trembling, shaking and a quality of vibration. As one changes the body through practice, many feelings and quality may arise - the important point is to progress slowly, and with a steady nature - allow the body and mind to change gradually. Slow, steady and regular practice is the key. Wish you all the best, and good luck with your daily practice.

We can begin with Faith - we can use our logic and reason to understand that gentle stretching, breathing and movement will over time have a healthy effect to our body, state of health and life -- so we should not ever have fear in regards to practice -- slowly make changes, slowly practice a little every day, eat healthy foods, and develop a Positive Mental Attitude - and so much goodness may develop with all aspects of our life. Dear Guillaume - thank you for your message. We are now organising a Live Online Training in 2023 - detailing the complete practice of Taoist Inner Alchemy. This will be a series of 10 Live lessons - we will teach in a highly structured manner, in order to give a very clear understanding -- each lesson will be archived for future viewing of the students. We have not announced the program yet - but please keep on the lookout on our homepage - www.ImmortalArts.org - we will be putting up the notice on the website and also the blog area. In learning Taoist Qigong - the first step is attaining and moving through the progressive levels of Taoist Longevity Breathing - Second is refining shape and form and transforming the physical - at this stage the mind will bind to the physical form at times, then also bind to the Breath - but there is a separation still.. Third we may think of gaining and entering into a Unification of the Breath and Form - Mind unifies with both form and breath at this stage - and one may gain many unique experience such as Unification with Nature. I am sorry I am not organized yet in my public offerings - but we also give private lessons online for serious students. Please contact us through our website if you have any questions. Sending all my very best. Sincerely, Jesse

    Thanks you Jesse, glad to practice some of exercices of the other classes here, i realise it is better to have not many exercices at least at beginning and to keep practicing them to have the benefits with repetition. I use to learn to practice most of my qigong exercice and as well the standing posture with feet with hips distance but in many of your classe we practice the standing exercice with feet together, what is the particular reason for this as it more unstable for me to do this way ?

      Thank you for your questions. Hope you do well. There are a variety of stance used in Taoist Qigong. Different Stance has a different effect to muscles, energy meridian, tendon, fascia, and organ system. Very simply - we need to understand there are Yin Musculatures and tissue as well as Yang Musculature and tissues - in these areas we will also find Yin Meridian channels and Yang meridian channels. The stance with feet touching together is a standard and very common in Taoist Qigong methods. If you have never encountered this stance, then you may draw the conclusion you have yet to train in the Taoist Qigong Methods. When we perform standing in this way, with feet touching - we must engage the Yin Musculature on the inside of the legs - as apposed to the larger Yang Musculature on the outside thigh which most are comfortable and common for people to use. When we stand with the feet together often this is termed 'Wuji Stance' - and it will force us to engage the Yin Musculature on the inside of the thigh - this develops the downward spiral force - which builds a strong rooting into the earth - to do that though, one will need to release the strong use of the Yang muscles of the upper thigh, and engage the inner thigh Yin area, and develop the downward spiral force - when this develops - you feel as if the entire surface of the foot contacts the ground - and a strong root and connective force builds. Second - engaging the Yin Musculature of the inner thigh also will effect the kidney meridian channels - and open these channels and encourage more Qi Energy to flow to the Kidney Organ - thus tonifying the Kidney Organ and rebuilding the lost essence of the Kidney Yin. Most of the Taoist Qigong and Taoist Practice strongly focuses on the Kidney organ, the related channels and tissues, and seeks to strengthen the Kidney organ and rebuild the Yin Essence energy which the Kidney organ stores. This is just a very simple and general explanation - there may always be much more theory and explanation -- but everything we teach and demonstrate has a clear purpose, meaning and a theory behind the posture, form, shape, movement or method. In learning a specific style or with a teacher - often one must have a quality of openness and faith - not blind belief - but faith that Qigong is a method with theory, aim and purpose behind the practice. Often it is better to not think too much - and just try a method and repeat it many times - see what happens in your own body system - if you approach in this manner - often times you may have self discovery, answer many of your own questions, experience insight and develop wisdom in the realm of Self Practice. I hope this sheds light on your questions. Wishing you the best of luck in your practice. Sincerely, Jesse .

      @@ImmortalArtsAcademy Thanks you Jesse, this does put light on my question . I always thought and it happened in the beginning of my practice of QIgong that any practitioner will after learning methods of a teacher(s) and practicing over time the learned exercices will after a while create his own system that is designed by himself offcourse most of the system will be impregnated of the teaching as tai-chi and different qigong are thousand of years of refining it is a blessing to be able to learn from all this destiny. I for myself focus on few exercices : i learned at first 3 set of 18 movement of taichi qigong shibashi that i enjoy practicing still. The other part that i felt important to practice for the meditation aspect is standing posture Zhan Zhuang in different variationd ( i didnt mention but practicing as well yoga and prananayama everyday as i believe meditation are the aim of yoga and as well Qigong at least on my side as well a great combination for the body/mind/spirit. Iam really glad to be introduced to daoist form of qigong by you and the video available as i enjoy the tao te ching as my favorite writing. Thanks you to open myself to deeper perspective on the practice of Qigong and taking the time for answering. Kind regards, Guillaume

      @@GuiyomNamaskar - Thank you Guillaume. We hope you are in fine spirits. There is a wealth of variety in the Qigong world - and it truly is a blessing. I think it is important to find a form or practice that you naturally can enjoy - then it can be repeated - finding the joy of daily practice is truly an important key. I have found there is not much information or spreading on the Taoist Breath Training methods - but in truth many differences from the Vedic Yoga methods of breath training - if you dig deeper there are some subtle differences and also big differences from the Taoist and Vedic approach to practice. From a simple view one of the important focuses to the Taoist Path is Longevity. For the Taoist this means to refill the inherited energy from the parents in the kidney organ. Part of this process as related to the Breath Training will be to develop a silent and subtle breath - this is often termed 'Silk Thread Breathing'. All of the traditions share many wonderful aspect, and we are fortunate to have a daily practice we may enjoy to enhance our life. Taoist Practice is a treasure in my life. Wish you the best. Sincerely, Jesse .

    Thanks you Jesse to share about the 4 power. you mention 3 power and this video ( raising , spiraling ,and descending one , what is the forth one and do you have any link/video to go deeper on this subject ? . My other questions is about fundamental of qigong to understanding when you do a movement there will be raising qi, syncing qi,, then expending and condensing qi if iam correct, what are the attribute of these motions ? I know iam asking a lot but i have really trouble to find answer and ressources about this online

    • @ImmortalArtsAcademy
      @ImmortalArtsAcademy Před rokem

      Dear Guillaume - Thank you for your comment. The Four Powers refer to the first level of training - the first level is the cultivation of Shape of Form / Transformation of Body / Physical Body Mechanics -- The Four Powers is a method to train the outside (physical body movement) in order to effect the inside. The Four Powers are - Rising / Spiralling / Overturn (rotation) / Falling (descending) -- The Unifying and Important Principle in cultivating the Four Powers will be Unification with the Center or Lower Dantian. The Cycle of the Four Powers must begin and end in the Lower Center - this is often termed as -- ***Arise and begin from the Root - expand to the End - withdraw from the End and return to the Root *** ((( From the Root to the End -- from the End to the Root )) This will create a constant Kinetic Wave within the Body - this wave of constant motion should be endless, without any breaks, and without any holes. To hold and maintain such a constant cycle of motion takes developed ability in concentration, breath control, connection and unification of the tendon and fascia networks, and Inner Strength. The longer one can maintain such a state - the Inner Strength develops more and more. This is something like a quality of Density Change within. Forget about Qi. If you think you can do something with your mind or imagination to effect or control Qi - you will be lost. Forget about Qi. Learn to Practice Correctly. Simply Practice. Over time as you can practice for longer periods of time, and with regularity - naturally strength, health, vitality and a healthy Qi develops. There are too many different ideas, incomplete practice methods, and different styles out there -- so in the end you have to pick one - and commit to learning a system and a method -- otherwise it is difficult to make lasting development.... ---- Think Less --- Practice More -- Be Simple --- Follow Nature -- Open the Heart --- With all our very best, Jesse Lee

    I’ve been studying Taoist alchemy for a while, but I still haven’t found a detailed method. Therefore I had to find out the processes behind all that. From what I could understand, first step is to “guard the center” which is bring the mind to a quiet state, a no thought state. That will cause energy to accumulate in the lower dan tien. When there’s enough energy, we start to circulate it in the microcosmic orbit to open the channels and clear the paths. Eventually, we reach a state of “embryonic breathing”, which means that normal breath is so subtle we can barely notice it, and the “inner breath”, which is the energy circulating in the microcosmic orbit, starts flowing by itself. That will refine the energy until we form the “embryo”. Is that it?

    • @ImmortalArtsAcademy
      @ImmortalArtsAcademy Před rokem

      Dear João - we hope you are in fine spirits. Taoist Alchemy is much like a lost or legendary art. Because of this - there is no idea or understanding of the basic standards of practice -- thus one may say anything or teach anything, call it Inner Alchemy, and no one can know if it is true or real or fake and a lie. In addition, there are many different lineages, and all have some different theory or approach. A good sign or a real tradition will be the system of teaching physical Foundation Training - often dealing with transforming and changing tendon and muscle through movement, posture and stretching. I can not explain all the steps and levels in practice here on the comments. One of the first steps will be the process of opening the meridian system - that is a very important step - generally postures are used to accomplish this, combined with mind will concentration. In Taoist Neidan, there is taught generally Three Levels of the Microcosmic Orbit. First Level is often termed 'False Circulation' or 'Mind Circulation' - this is following the pathway with the Mind - and is generally not looked on as an end practice - not much can be gained in the long term from this. Second Circulation of the Microcosmic Orbit is 'Circulation of the External Medicine' - this is a natural circulation that may arise after one has gone through the process of 'Harvesting External Medicine' or Yang Qi. Third Circulation of the Microcosmic Orbit is 'Circulation of the Inner Medicine'. To try and describe such things are relative to one's personal experience. Understanding such things is also relative. If one has not experienced such things directly in an embodied manner - it means nothing, and makes no sense - Taoist Inner Alchemy is a very wonderful and profound method and culture. The first step one must undertake is 'Purification of the Heart' and 'Cultivation of Virtue' - transforming the Heart Nature is the Foundation for real and true practice of the Path of Taoist Inner Alchemy. Anything else is artificial and based on human will and mind force -- it is not a method which will lead to Unification of the Great Nature.... Please take care. With our very best regards. ☯
