Bottom line: you get what you pay for
I bought a Bella Bar for my wife, and, upon reflection, I realize it would have been better to have bought a 10 Kg Junior Bar. The Bella Bar is too heavy for my wife’s press warm up, so she needs to start with light dumbbells. Don’t get me wrong, the Bella Bar is great, but our home gym would be more “versatile” with a 10 kg and 20 kg bar than with a 15 kg and 20 kg bar. Just my two cents.

I ordered a ohio power bar too,single income trying to save. Well see what happens to me soon lo,oh wow they're shipping it right now 12:01 am and I just ordered it an hour ago. ☺
Great review. Hows the ecoat holding up? Thinking about getting one for the wifey. I personally like the more matte finish of the zinc but longevity is my primary concern. Thanks!
E-coat still looks perfect. My husband’s zinc coat has some wear after a few years but no rust. The only thing about the e-coat is how slick the finish is compared to the others, especially on the knurling. Still an amazing bar!

I'm a short guy with wee hands. I used a Bella at the gym I used to belong to. I think it's time I get one for my home gym!

Great review, I also purchased your exact bar you have the bone yard 20kg , but it doesn't say Ohio bar on it like yours.so I talked to rouge and ask if it's a bella bar or Ohio and they told me it's Ohio but doesn't states its Ohio.but it's the same one you have, just confused , is your a bella bar or Ohio and how do you know.because they have a video with a bella that looks like the Ohio just like ours
I have both bars. The Bella is lighter and has a smaller diameter grip compared to a standard bar like the Ohio. The end caps can also be a good indicator of which bar it is, or you can look at your order invoice from Rogue.

Yep! Our zinc bar has some wear now a couple of years later but no rust. The e-coat is still in perfect shape.

That’s so exciting! Our order took around two months, but we also live in the middle of Wyoming and we ordered when many things were sold out due to COVID. It very possibly could take less time for your order.
I noticed before the video started this review is gonna be one sided. your comparing a cheap amazon bench to a bench that's not only an upgraded model but made by a company that actually makes workout equipment. Amazon bench isn't made to be compared to other equipment. its made to be cheap and affordable. I appreciate the review cause its the only legit source for info on the amazon bench. And yes after the review I may get the Rep as well. I personally think a different video of the two may get you more views.
Thanks for the feedback! I agree that it was obvious Rep was going to be the better bench. Many people don’t have hundreds of dollars to drop on equipment and might find a Amazon bench a good, cheap alternative. My video was to show the pros and cons of going with cheap vs quality.
I think that's the whole point. To see if it's worth paying the extra penny for a dedicated flat bench. And what you lose on the Amazon one.
@@rachaelsantoyofit you can show pros and cons without putting them against each other. You can do a pro vs con video with just one product on the video. Screams sponsor to me. That's all.
This review was truly well done and informative. You should consider posting more reviews/home gym videos. Maybe get the hubby into the video as well, to get a he/she perspective.

You should make more videos. You were definitely someone who i watched in the space and value your opinion when it comes to building a home gym. You along with others helped me tremendously throughtout the lockdowns.

I took a risk and got the boneyard. I think it was the Ohio Bar with raw steel shaft and sleeves. When it arrived, I didn’t notice a double knurl or any imperfections in how the bar was manufactured. The machining was very good. Since it’s raw steel, it needs more maintenance and cleaning. However, when it arrived, it was still the prettiest barbell I’ve ever seen. The difference in quality between the boneyard and my cheap barbell was night and day. I have used it for over a year and its been great. It is really due for a cleaning. Especially since it is raw steel. I’m scared to clean it cause I don’t want an oily bar. Maybe one day I’ll splurge on the cerakote.
Glad to hear your experience with the boneyard bar. I haven’t had to clean raw steel, but I’m guessing there are videos and advice. Hopefully it goes well!
Thanks for this. Been trying to decide on which Bella Bar to buy my wife for a month. Wanted to get the SS version, especially for the uncoated grip, but concerned about the black composite bushings whereas many of the other options have bronze bushings. I don't have experience with composite bushings and thought bronze bushings like on yours was the top pick. Nice to hear and see your comparison on the coating. Garage Gym Reviews speculated that E coat was thinner than oxide but yours seems to indicate E coat is thicker. Impressed with your knowledge.

I haven’t checked the websites and prices in awhile since our gym is pretty stocked now, but I can’t say I’m surprised. Facebook marketplace can have some great finds, especially in bigger city areas. I know there are Facebook groups for people who sell rogue stuff, but I don’t know about rep. Might be worth looking into if you can get something used for cheaper!
I ordered a boneyard bare steel Ohio power bar from Rogue the other day. I live in the Newark area so I usually drive the 20 mile/35 minute drive to Rogue to pick up my new gear to get it sooner and avoid shipping f cost. Pickup was not an option with the boneyard bar. Regular price $290, Boneyard price $225+$25 for shipping. I can comment about the defects in my bar once I receive it if anyone is interested. I do need to add that the regular bare steep OPB has bare sleeves. The boneyard version I ordered has bright zinc sleeves.

CAP in my opinion is the best of the lower level gym equipment. I have a CAP barbell (beast) and bumper plates(10s and 25 lbs). I highly recommend CAP to those uncertain if they will commit to working out at home.
Not a bad idea to use a cheaper brand like Cap to make sure you’re committed to the home gym.
I would suggest that women buy a Bella Bar. It weighs 33 LBS vs an Ohio bar at 44 LBS (11 lb difference). The shaft is the same length so wouldn't matter when racking it. The biggest PRO Is the diameter (25 MM) this gives a more secure grip when deadlifting, benching and shoulder pressing.

From what I have seen the price difference doesn't justify the no return policy or the lack of warranty. Pay the extra 40-60$ and get a lifetime of happiness with the bar.

Question: when using a men’s bar when deadlifting conventional, do you notice your hands are on the smooth? Vs. with the Bella bar, do you get more Knurl since the bar is shorter? My GF deadlifts with my Ohio power bar but her hands have to be on the smooth section as she doesn’t have wide shoulders Thank you!
The smooth area is about 2 inches shorter on the bella bar, so it might help her!

Finish still looks good. I haven’t noticed much change at all.
I bought a barbell at Walmart how dangerous and serious is the warning may cause cancer label?
I don’t remember mine having that warning.

We had to message rogue several times because at first they refused to do a custom add on to our order but eventually someone agreed to add them to our order.
