После этой игры канадцы не отдали проигранный кубок?
Lots of empty seats, especially for being in Edmonton and many Oilers on the team.
Vlastizradca Peter Šťastný👎.Som zvedavý,co by robili Kanaďania, keby sa proti nim v drese Československa postavil hráč, ktorý predtým reprezentoval Kanadu.Nechcem si to ani predstaviť 😊.
The input of Soviet style in hockey development can hardly be overestimated.
The USSR team was 80% experimental. What a pity. We could watch more interesting final.
Lol at Mike Keenan with hair. I envy all of you who were able to see this tournament both in person and on TV.
The Soviet team was experimental for 80%.
Bobby Hull, overall, displays such phenomenal skating speed and powerful shots that all goalies were scared of. It's a pretty talented team for the day. Bobby Orr, of course, was exceptional too! Hull should have been on 72 team. NHL were still in full control of player's careers then, until Hull, single handedly changed everything, especially salaries! Thanks Bobby Hull! You're a great man!
Судья выиграл этот кубок канады. При всем уважении к канаде, сборная советов была лучше, чище, красивее, мощнее.
The starting line up was Montreal Canadiens vs Team USA 😂
.. Wow !! just imagine lining up against a future hall of famers , #30 Vachon , #4 Orr , #19 Robinson , #27 Sittler , #12 McDonald ... ..
Watched that game from up north in Michigan on a fishing trip. We could get a CTV station from the Soo at my friend's cabin. Later it was reported after the second period several Canadian players were livid they had not been able put the Americans away. There was a lot of yelling in the locker room.
I really miss seeing Orr rush the puck end-to-end with his beautiful power strides.
... . Wow !! Perreault goal , outstanding .. deadly skater ..😊
Back then the American players only came from Massachusetts, Minnesota , and Michigan 😏
Soviets had zero depth in goal. Tretiak played every game for 37 years.
Quite a talented Canadian squad ...wowwww ...and Scotty Bowman as coach 🏒🥅🥇
Terrific paintings 🖼 of hockey 🏒 players at beginning of video ...great works of art, by artist ...really captures players #superb 😅 🍁🌲
Liut and Tretiak, two technically beautiful goalkeepers.
I met Tretiak at the Hockey Hall of Fame years ago,as he was there to commerate the 1972 series. He was a nice man,and he always wanted to play for Montreal, but wasn't allowed to by Russia.
All these Commies can cry me a river, cry me a river, man!
1981 8:1 🎉🎉🎉
The main difference is because Soviets played much more together than Canadians. Put that team 11 months together and they were much more better...It's easy to see they did not knew each others and had not the same system. And Lemelin was a correct goalie but not the best of that time... Fuhr or Smith were much better in my opinion.
Low quality hockey. Choppy. 1987 CC finals were the best!
I m quite surprised that the Russians didn t return those interventions Canada played like pigs terribly insidious what wrong with the intervevention
Nobody prevented the ussr to sell more oil/gas and come up with hard currency to organize the "Soviet Cup". So stop whining about the rules and the rinks and the referees. The game was played the NHL way - easy on grabbing and punching and tough on diving. Soviet players bought some jeans, cassette players, came back, sold them 10:1 and went back to being locked up at Arkhangelskoe. All was cool 😝
I was twelve. My favourite goal of all time! What a star-studded team!
What a great match!
How is Stastny playing for Canada?
POTVIN to PERREAULT 1st goal - PERREAULT to POTVIN back to PERREAULT to HULL 2nd goal !
is this video repeating itself at times ? BOBBY CLARKE scored twice on the same video - section ? wtf !
LOL 1:44:07. Bossy is a cheater. He knows he is in offside, But he still tries to pretend he scored a goal.
The best team in Canada Cup'1984 was USSR-Russia.
Imagine Hull,Lafleur and Perrault coming at you!!!!Wow
What happened to the behind the scene's series they had of the 87 Canada Cup? I remember watching it and they had scenes of the players coming to Copps Coliseum. They even showed Wayne and Janet with the team at a golf resort. Lemieux joking around on the ice with Michel Goulet etc... What a great series. I think it was like 6 parts to it.
Bobby Orr with Denis Potvin and Serge Savard with Larry Robinson? Whoa, Talk about some great defense.
Bobby Orr controlled the puck. I give credit tothe USSR for figuring out 5 man puck control, but Bobby Orr was better than any of them and it wasn't even close.
Jiri Holik is the uncle of former New Jersey Devils forward Bobby Holik. It might be just me, but the Czech team reminds me a lot of the NJ Devils back in 1995.
Lads, there were 5 Canada Cups. Canada won 4 and the Soviets 1. In fact, the Soviets made it to two finals, so it was Soviets 1-1 and Canada 4-1.
How many World Hockey Championships? How many Investia Cups? How many Super Series? How many Winter Olympics? The National team (CCCP) and their individual elite clubs customarily trounced the North American National teams (Canada and the USA) NHL clubs, NHL all star teams and teams made of an assortment of professional/amateur selects from 1954 to 1992 and the Soviets enjoyed a commanding 152 Wins 54 losses and 12 draws... (approximately) "Lads" that!
@@kidmack3556 Winter Olympics is in the middle of the NHL season. The fact that it is called W-I-N-T-E-R is a clue. But I do enjoy your chest-beating.
@steelcom5976 Chest to chest? That's the point of my reply, like Doi? The world of athletics doesn't revolve around what a league began by robberbarons and bootleggers do or don't do.
@@kidmack3556 Doubling-down is a nice touch. Keep going. What else ya got?
@steelcom5976 What "you got" is the same thing your knuckle dragging players "got" Too busy being belligerent and knocking each other's teeth out instead of actually playing ice hockey. I don't know what "double down" translates to. Sounds like something post modernist, which means that it's something to say in newspeak and already has several existing phrases, meaning exactly the same thing. Choose something that's in the Ox-Bridge, please?
HELLO FROM JOE NANIA
As usual, our guys outclassed canadians' dull dirty play.
If the CCCP team played the 81 Islanders in a 7 game series who would win?
the Soviets of course, they always win. cause they were literally the best team to ever play the sport. and ever will be
The Islanders..they had 4 super solid lines way to deep just ask the Edmonton Oilers. The Islander beat the Oilers in 81' also in 83 but not in 84. 2 series to the OILERS one. Only team deeper with 4 lines were the 76-77 Habs.
At 1:01:22 Makarov undressed Larry Robinson and Denis Potvin....
Tony Esposito played goal for the US Team in this tournament ...WHY ? Was Mike Liut the best Canadian goalie ????
The chat at the end we re number one sends chills .
Great game. Notice too the excellent play by play by Bill Hewitt.
It was Bernie Pascall
Thank you@@rhettinski Excellent play by play and knowledge of the game. Same era as Bill Hewitt (Foster Hewitt's son), sticking to what was happening on the ice and not progressing into U.S. baseball style trivia reporting.
That was Canada's most beautiful jersey
Hull with a brutal turnover being pressured by Ftorek and Jensen with a nice shot on Vachon for the goal. Ftorek, Jensen and Talafous were the three best forwards on the US.
yes he made an error but the top scorer for team Canada on this first Canada cup.
Was there anyone who disliked Gilbert Perrault? Such a classy player.
