A Double Blast From The Past! Birthday trains and other animals
Hey there welcome to this video.
In my previous offering I showed you my old O gauge Triang battery diesel and then my new OO scale Hymek by way of a tribute.
What I forgot to mention was that the original O gauge set came with two mark 2 coaches and therefore I set up my OO scale tribute with mark 2s as well.
Of course a number of sharp eyed viewers pointed out that class 35s did not have train air brakes to work the mark 2s nor an ETH supply for the aircon and heating.
With this in mind here is my birthday train running with the first from maybe 1972 and the second 1988, lets say both at Reading and both accompanied by the sounds I recorded there in 1982.
At the end I’ll show you three of my birthday gifts.

Very nice job of fixing on those 2 models Mike. By the way, can you please tell me which lubricant is the best for the brass worm drive on some models which have it in their mechanisms because I do not know which 1 is the correct type. Plus, can you please provide a link to get the particular lubricant for brass worm drives.
Thanks. Labelle 106 is good for gears, it's really a case of finding who has the best deal on it. If you want an oil for almost everything else looks at Labelle 108.

Good luck, very good safe lubes, they make a white grease as well that's Labelle 106, sorry so above you need 102 for gears and 108 for all else. 106 is great for modern diesel gears

Happy birthday Mike. Re tips: Wash all the parts in warm soapy water, dry fit and adjust to shape before gluing, use an Araldite type resin adhesive, Prime with an acrylic primer (Halfords) being careful to keep the joining areas paint free, some parts may benefit from painting before assembly for ease of access. Finally assemble all the parts and finish off the painting. Happy days. 😇

Happy Birthday Mike! 🎈🍰🥂✨ Can remember when Langley Miniature Models started in the rear of Langley Home Stores in Langley Green - one of their early kits was a LBSCR Baltic Tank (to mount on a Triang A3 chassis). 🙂 Langley Miniature Models sold the Homes Stores to set up in new premises in Three Bridges. Under new owners the rear of Langley Home Stores continued for a few years as a model shop (the front was a hardware store). 🚂🚃🚃🚃 For years after the model shop had gone, a distant signal arm still adorned the frontage (shop now sells Asian clothes). 🤔 Fortunately Langley Miniature Models successfully continues! 😎

For cleaning out the old bearing on the bogies Mike you can also use WD40 Contact Cleaner or as OOBill puts it "give it a good skoosh". I've used the contact cleaner and it's great at getting rid of the "muck" super quick with great penetration power.

Your birthday trains should have had steam engines on the front, lol. The DMU is OK. My own birthday is in July. This year it falls on the first Saturday (6th July). As I grew up with preserved steam engines, I always loved it when 7822 Foxcote Manor gave me my special birthday train ride. Please write it down so you don't forget. Can you run Lydham Manor on my birthday this year, pretty please?
