@@CantThinkOfABetterName I totally get your point, if you use the money the right way. I think 10k on its own won’t get you many places immediately- it’s not enough for a deposit pretty much anywhere in the UK. However if it can springboard you to a new career path or getting started with investing then it’s great. And regardless, it’s obviously worth having!

    1. Treating yourself doesn't have to involve money. There is so much amazing things around us that are completely free . We don't need to deprive ourselves while saving for our big goals. 2. The phrase " I deserve it" is such a fallacy of thinking. Yeah, you might deserve that subway, but don't you also deserve a healthy body? Emergency fund or own house? 3. Budget is a must.. you can't see if you're succeeded in you plan if you never made a plan . 4. Plan for the things not going to plan.

You joke about not having kids, but it's a fact. For 80% of average people (in the US) we cannot afford to have kids because of how bad the economy is. For the majority it is an extreme detriment to financial stability. I have 3 kids and it's insane how much it costs. Diapers, wipes, formula, food, entertainment. Paying for 5 people instead of 2 is crippling. Yes I should've wrapped it up but honestly most 18 year olds should just get a vasectomy for their future stability. And I wish this route of thinking would get pushed more for people in their teens.

Regarding kids, the real question is not whether you can afford them, but rather whether you prioritize them. My siblings and I grew up in extreme poverty with our dad in prison during most of our childhood and our mom doing manual labor, but she always prioritized us with whatever little resources we had, and educated us on the importance of dedication and perseverance. Today, my brother is an oncologist, my sister is the owner of an AI-IT company, and I'm a scientist. So, yes, raising children does cost a lot, but if anyone had told my mom she could not afford her kids, she would have laughed at them.
