Precut food is very helpful for people like me who have chronic pain or other long term exhausting health conditions. It's better to buy precut fruit & veg than to be living on take away or heat+eat highly processed food!

Absolutely, this is what I mean when I say at the end about how my list of stuff I don't buy will look different to someone else's. I may spend my money on something someone else would deem pointless. It's just about prioritising what matters and makes a difference to you!

Don’t buy printer ink just because it says it’s low. Ours has been low for many months, since some time last year, and it’s still got enough ink to print. Wait til it’s literally fading!

My problem is if it’s cut up, I’m much more likely to use it where if I have to cut it up every time I want to use/eat some, I end up not bothering and then it ends up in the bin. I bought a full broccoli for 4 food shops and each time it got thrown away, now I’ve stuck with frozen pre-cut broccoli that I can grab a couple of bits when I need it for a meal x

I use google calendar for important notes. I still have an iPhone 11. I only buy clothes when I need it. I buy a few recycle paper towels. I use bounty for our dog spills. I cut up my own fruit. I don’t have more than 2 subscription services either. I menu plan & try not to eat out. We do this only twice per month. I go to Costco once a month. I buy some produce bi-weekly. I try to avoid grocery shopping too often.During the pandemic I learned how to cut my own hair & do my own tint. I get my hair done at the hairdresser twice per year. I never do my nails. I keep them clean & short. I don’t feel like wasting money every 3 weeks. I only use dryer sheets. I never use liquid fabric softener or scent boosters. I use vinegar. I haven’t bought magazines in years. I use filtered water from home. I try not to buy drinks on the road.

Great tips and suggestions. I stopped using fabric softeners almost 20 years ago and never had an issue with crunchy clothes, towels, etc. I just use a fragrance free detergent and never have issues. When I stopped using them, my clothes and linens last so much longer. I also never buy scented laundry boosters as the chemicals used to make the scents make me nauseous.

The Libby app is the best! Our local library has a massive magazine offering. Viewing magazines on an iPad is great because you can take screenshots. Arizona did a library consortium throughout the state during the pandemic. We now have access to 10 additional libraries.

If you must have laundry beads, put them in a hosiery and place them in your drawers. They work, last long time, and lavender keeps moths and buggies away.

Clothes: One good quality coat for life (Harris Tweed in my case), a tailored suit, some tailored shirts, everything else is Uniqlo.
Smartphone: Upgrade only every 5 years now
Car washes: Every other month only.
Seasonal: Don't spend on any of it, not even Christmas cards - instead I'll email them or instant message.
Gifts: I don't buy gifts for adults at all. For young kids, I give them £20-30.
Magazines: Don't buy any. Everything is available for free online.
Fabric softener: I get the liquid version and add a quarter of what they recommend. I buy it once a year and make it last.

As for laundry, adding an egg cup full of white vinegar to your wash really does work as a conditioner, clothes are softer and it also helps clean the machine... and no, the clothes will not smell of vinegar

If your skin products don’t contain retinol, you may as well put margarine on your face ( don’t do this please😂) I use retinol squalane with my face cream daily and it lasts for absolutely ages, so it’s very cost effective.
You can also make a lovely homemade skin exfoliater using a little coconut oil and used coffee grounds, massage gently and rinse with warm water. Avoid eye area!

I prefer slightly rough towels - I don’t like fluffy towels at all. I do use fabric conditioner though, but don’t put it in for towels. Those scent balls are a gimmick and sooooooo bad for the environment. I don’t follow Mrs Hinch, but I’ve seen the odd video and she’s lovely and shared great tips. But I suspect she is paid by the big companies to promote those products. Thanks for your content.

In my entire family aunts uncles etc we will either give money or what's needed from infants till 10 years old. The rest of us are old enough to not need something. If a person is insistent I ask them to do a pet donation or to a person that really needs it. 🎉

My rule of thumb for clothing is that I look at it as though its $1 per wear and will I get my monies worth.
For instance for a $180 cocktail dress I would need to wear it 180 times for it to be valuable to me
My Lululemon leggings that are $120 I will definitely wear more than 120 times (probably 6 times over) so that to me is a solid purchase!

Squash the toilet roll before putting it on the holder, it turns slower and you will use less at a time. Also, think about getting a bidet attachment on your toilet and you will save hundreds of pounds a year in paper. It’s also more hygienic.

Also, if you buy in bulk online you can save money per roll. Just make sure it’s at least two or 3 ply and check how many sheets per roll, as sometimes it looks like a bargain, but the sheets per roll are less. Also add on the delivery charge. If you buy over a certain amount some online stores deliver for free.
