The reusable products is a game changer. I select one thing each month to swap: one month napkins, next cloth paper towels, next cotton reusable makeup pads, etc. I love how environmentally friendly it is too.
Agree. Great for the earth and the wallet.
Sorry - my pet is better than a therapist or most of my family members!!!
I get it. I would have never gotten rid of my dog just to save. But I’m not sure I will ever get another. 😕
My animals are my children. I agree, if you can't afford a pet, don't get one.
Pets are better than a lot of pe pole w/o all the demands.

I feel ya. For me it’s how they say I have too many cats. Well they may be right or they may be wrong. But if you really pay attention, you soon realize how much they help you. Such is the case with me also. 😊 I can say tho that I’m at my limit tho. I can’t deal with more at this time. But I’m keeping the ones I have. (It’s not like you could easily adopt them out anyways once they’re not “cute little kittens” anymore). They call it the cat mafia and it’s kinda true. Once you’re in you’re in for life. But what can I say? They have my heart. It’s like having kids. You have them and get to know them and bond with them and it changes you and you can’t seem to help but to love them forever.
I still do SOME counseling also tho Bcuz my fam is hella toxic.
I have 3 dogs and a turtle. I would think my house was empty without them. They are our buddies, our psychiatrists, our get up and get moving , i need a walk, our calm and our crazy. They make bad times good. I would never be petless .
I love this!
My sister and I used to volunteer at the same thrift shop that benefited an animal rescue group. She was so excited to buy some Christmas items just like Mom had when she was alive. I didn't remember they were Mom's and donated them! We still laugh about that one.
I am the queen of returns!
😂 thanks for watching!!
Yes, share how your tackling the project of selling 50% of your stuff. Thanks
You got it!
I need a financial coach SO BADLY but cant afford it. Ive been penny wise and pound foolish. Thanks for your videos.
You can do it!
Depending on where you live, some pets pay for themselves or are super cheap after the initial purchase.
For instance, if you can have chickens, they will eat bugs in your yard, including ticks, can eat most kitchen scraps and will reward you with eggs. Do it right, and the amount you save on eggs is more than what you spend on feed.
Rabbits are a really cheap pet. You can feed them some kitchen scraps as well as grass, some branches, weeds, etc. They can be trained to walk on a leash and use a litter box.
My rabbit will be 10 this year. I've bought 1 50 lb bag of rabbit food per year.
Went online and have seen rabbit urine can be used as a high quality fertilizer. These products very expensive.
Some great tips!!
People freak out if you mention nor having pets is a frugality strategy, but it’s absolutely true. Food, meds, grooming, vet bills all add up quickly. She’s not saying you can’t have one, just understand it’s going to cost a lot of money.
Some people allot money for entertainment or eating out. I built “maintenance” costs for my pets into my budget because they bring me and my family great joy.
You really have to have a seperate savings for pets!
I disagree with owning pets if you live alone pets are your home security system internent and security over 200 per month pitbull and firearm cheaper dogs scare off most intruders and solar lights plus their better than a husband anyday 😅 thats all the love i need
Here’s what’s gonna ruffle everyone’s feathers don’t have any kids. They’re the most expensive human beings you will ever ever have in your entire life and some don’t grow up. 😂😂
Thanks for watching!
@@Intentional-frugality rather have a pet
I agree with the pets. If you don't already have one, they are expensive. Foster a pet for a short time. Pay off bills first to allow your budget for a pet.
People take a deep breath. Take the info that works and let the other go. It’s not hard. I’ve reached an age where I’m worried I’ll outlive my Pet. And they are expensive more now than in the past. Sad but true.
Foster dogs. Expenses are paid for and you are doing amazing things to save an animal.😊
Batch cooking is the way to go for our household. When good hamburger is on a super sale I will buy the limit. I then fry up the meat and put it into my crockpot with onions and taco seasoning and let it slow cook all day. I then divy it up in meal size bags and put in freezer. We have tacos, taco soup, taco salad for several months ready to go. I also do this with making sloppy joes and having it ready when we want them. The slow cooker gives them an added richness.
Savings tip! Don't buy bottled water, Get a reusable thermos that can be used for coffee or water when on the go. I keep cold water in the fridge to fill the thermos and out the door I go. Less than a penny a "bottle". And no more plastics in landfills.
I eat mostly fresh food and don’t make recipes. I eat everything before buying more. I do stick meat in my freezer for later in the week. I keep fruit in the refrigerator and take it out a day before I need it. Meat comes out of the freezer to thaw in the refrigerator about 2 days before I need it. I’ve even frozen something for just a few hours.
Another fantastic video from Sara!! Thank you!!!!
Your comments about Dunkin resonate with me completely. I was a total Dunkin fanatic, but not only is it expensive, lately it just hasn't lived up to snuff. Many times I've caught myself thinking about going and then I realize I can make an iced mocha latte at home that is as good, if not better. I was there this week and everything I got was disappointing.
I fel that way about Panera lately. They changed their menu when they became a publicly traded company and the quality has sufered. I just cant bring myself to eat there any more. Disappointing.
Last 3 times I went to DD I bought 2 coffees ( I for me, 1 for coworker) each time the order was wrong…how can you mess up…” 2 large coffees, 1 black and with cream only”…I have called and have been told I would get a call back…3 times it didn’t happen. You can seldom go into local DD stores…because staffing is so short
@virginialangford6257 yeah, I've experienced similar. This most recent time I had cold, burnt food and an iced mocha that hadn't even been stirred to mix things through. I have $13 left on the app and a free item, one or two more trips to use that up and I'm taking what may be a long break.
@@saraconklinfrozenpennies yes!! I want baked potato soup back!
I didn't invest in a book reader. My local library can get me books from other libraries that they don't carry. Real books are easier on my eyes.
I have to read a real book before bed. I get it.
Sorry, I may be in the minority here but I agree with your comments about pets. Too many people take pets on and then when they can't afford them they bring them to the animal shelter or some worse let them go in the streets. I agree, if you can't afford a pet, don't get a pet. It's not fair to the animal. It is the exact reason why I don't have any animals - I can't afford them.
I agree with dyeing black pants. I've done so using my washer-excellent! Another idea a friend shared is to wash dark clothes inside out. Also, use a vinegar rinse sometimes. I appreciate your videos. Continued blessings!
Thanks so much for watching!
Sarah thank you for your lovely videos. You're amazing and they're totally phenomenal. ❤🎉 Keep up the good work and enjoy your weekend. Xxxx ❤️💋💕☺️🤗

Great ideas😊.
Our Walmart is awful for produce but good for most everything else. So I tend to shop at 2 stores
I have one kittycat I took off the street and she is part of my family of one person.

Nothing better then having a loving and faithful dog along with an occasional hot dog with chili, mustard, and onions.😊
Miss my dog every day. Ugh. I cannot do hot dogs. 😂 I also cannot eat Bologna!
@@saraconklinfrozenpenniessame here if they are made out of pork products. Beef hot dogs and beef bologna I can digest. Most pork products I avoid because they can flare up my arthritis.

Great job Sarah ❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊

If you can't afford to own a pet, why not get your fix by volunteering at a local shelter? Better yet, turn your love of animals into a side gig by walking dogs or pet sitting, or work part-time at a pet store? That way, you get to spend time with furry friends and earn extra money!
Great ideas!!!
Excellent tips!
Thanks and thank you for watching!
Learning to be flexible with recipes, food, clothing/fabrics. I don't eat hotdogs (can't stand the taste), but I know of Multiple ways to use them in meals.
I repurpose clothing or fabric, that is in very good condition, I am currently making an apron for a cousin and have made my own cloth napkins,
Leftovers become casseroles, or fillers for my eggs at breakfast. I've an electric stovetop so when my food is almost done I turn off the stove put the lid on the pan, put a hot pad over the lid and a dish towel over that to keep the heat in to finish cooking with residual heat.
Great ideas!
Not only do multiple non-resident library cards allow you access to more ebooks, but they also give you more movies and shows on Hoopla, Everbrand and Kanopy, PLUS more access to research sites. NOTE: Some libraries charge a fee for a non-resident card.
Great tips!
I would be here for a decluttering video!
Some of my kitties are amazing vermin and rodent “hunters.” They also keep me sane and give me daily purpose and routine. Their entertaining antics and their wondrous feats and their cuddly affection. What they teach me about life and love. I think I’d go crazy if it was just me alone all the time here without them. Of course our situation is more or less like stray and feral and barn cat setup. My little wild ones would not fare well as indoor only cats.
So funny tho. When summer hits I suddenly want picnic food like hot dogs or shrimp cocktail or BBQ or cold, juicy sandwiches or cold fruit on a hot summer day. Ice cream and shakes etc. Then when winter comes I go back to other “comfort foods.” But often I skip the buns etc and just eat the dogs (beef franks for me lol) with a bit of mustard. Usually chips or tater tots with. Lol. The grocery sales are usually on point also with the seasonal changes. So it works for me. Lol.
I don’t want a shark or a Dyson. Lol. My little dirt Devil vibe is the best vac I’ve ever had. (Usually under $50 and lasts me for years even with a bunch of cat dander). So if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it. I also find a very cheap broom and dustpan is very effective most days.
I'm sorry I have 2 cats and 1 cat is 16 years old and has some health issues but I would not trade them for the world
@@marciaford7882 totally agree
Yes would like to see you declutter and get ready for garage sale
Many good points! We are targets for advertising 24/7 - 365😅 Just count in ONE day how many our brains have to ignore. And then there's the "influencers" all over online ... for commi$$ion, view$ pay, $poncers ... All can be very subtle, but insidious.
Agree! Thanks for the tips!
Yes I do return stuff when I need too. I'm tired of making these companies richer!
Good for you!
Shop at auctions for furniture. 😊
I do this and dang the savings add up. If anything I bought was on sale I would take that saving and save it. My beloved neighbor taught me this. She used the saving to pay for airline tickets for her g babies. Paying for 3 g babies airline tickets 2x a year that is some saving!
You look great in red!
Thanks so much!!!
It is horrible for a pet not to get treatment it needs when it needs it. Pets are great but if money is tight, foster instead. Everything Is paid for and you still get the love or a furry bestie.
Great tip!
❤I no longer use any shampoo or conditioners in the shower, no one time use plastic bottles to recycle and way less expensive buying the all in one soap on Amazon from the company right to shower.
Such an interesting idea. Thanks for sharing!
I think a lot of people just heard “don’t have pets” and didn’t listen to the statement in its entirety. As always context and listening and understanding is important here. And also if you disagree with something just don’t take the advice lol. Getting all bent out of shape over it is ridiculous.
Growing up we never bought buns as Dad said use slice of bread it's the same as a bum
LOL same with my husband. He acts like a kid in a candy store and wants to buy everything
LOL! I hear ya!
married for 53 years and never had a budget. We are retired and debt free.
How do you freeze milk?
Have found this easy. Took some senior citizens tips, the generation that lives through the Great Depression. For me, I portion off, and a pinch of salt. Have received milk passed through several hands from food pantries and have frozen my milk off this way. Some of the milk I use immediately, but have concerns, so, a pinch of salt. Recently, purchased a yogurt maker for my morning smoothies. And the yogurt pamphlet states the converted milk/yougurt can last up to two weeks. Both the pinch of salt and yogurt methods of preserving milk have been game changers.
I just pour a little out and throw it in the freezer. Let it thaw completely in the refrigerator and shake like crazy.
I think its silly that so many people are getting upset over the comments about pets. Having pets is expensive. I would love to own a few cats, my daughter has been asking for cats for years but I can't afford it at the moment. Instead ill wait until I'm more financially stable before I go and adopt or buy cats.
I would love to have another little dog, but there is no way I can afford it. Rent in Florida is outrageous. So I see what you mean about pets being expensive.
First ❤
Thanks for watching!!!
I'm sending your hubby $1.25 so he can get some hotdogs.
LOL!!! I think he's good.😂 (too funny)
Pets are cheaper than kids. More therapetic.
Kids are definitely more expensive.
My family has always been my problem
Instead of not having pets, I decided not to have children and have saved a huge amount of money!
Feed outside cat .
My aunt and uncle did this for years.
I’m so glad somebody else doesn’t take their husband shopping! 😂😂
LOL! It always costs more!
Dollar tree sells hot dogs and hot dog buns.
I dont want to be weird, but you look so pretty. Is it a new haircut?❤
Awe. Thanks so much! Nope this isn’t a new hair cut BUT… I did get a new haircut - you will see it in the next video 😊

@@donnarupprecht4418 thanks so much!!!
You are for-sure wrong on the pet subject! They are a part of most people’s lives. You will loose viewers on that subject!
I'm not so sure that everyone agrees with you. And I'm not saying dont have a pet. I'm saying if you want to be frugal, and save money, don't have a pet. My theory on being frugal has always been - spend on what's important to you and save in other areas.
If you have no money to pay for any emergency pet care, the appropriate thing to do is not get a pet until you are more stable. My current dog has had over $20,000 of emergency care in the past 12 years. Veterinary care costs have exploded over the last 2 decades mostly due to the rise of use in pet insurance and the unhealthy pet foods being made now. I’m thankful I have the money to pay these bills. I even paid $3000 for a case of diarrhea. They had to run every test to discover she just had an upset stomach.
I told my partner no matter how much I beg don’t let me get another dog
Do not dye your clothes they then continue run when they get wet DONT DO THIS !
Thanks for the tip!
I have already thinned down- and I will not be a minimalist under any circumstances. I am a historical re-enactor for Civil War and Medieval. Those are my hobbies I will not abandon them. Over and out

@@Rita_60 better than a lot of husbands
I'm amazed at the backlash about the pet subject. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she is stating that if you don't already have a pet, but are wanting/shopping for one, to not follow your heart just yet.. until you are financially responsible. Pet bills at the vet have skyrocketed in the last 15 years! Get your money in order so you can then enjoy adopting an animal or several! 😺😁🐶❤
@@Rita_60 I wonder why I think pets are so nice
Sorry but these are ridiculous.
