On the 973LM that has the older logo, you press and hold the button you want to program and press and release the LEARN button. Release the remote button when the light(s) blink.
The instructions on mine are incorrect as well. I fought with it for 20 minutes and started to wonder if I had two incompatible or faulty remotes. Your instructions worked perfectly. In 30 seconds I had both remotes programmed. Thanks!
My Liftmaster opener also has the wrong instructions. The first set of instructions are for programming the remote (which are incorrect), and the second set is for erasing all codes.
🤣 the instructions aren’t wrong.. you were apparently reading them wrong.. when you said the instructions read, to program the remote you “press and hold the transmitter button and then press and hold the receiver code button until it flashes then release both”. those are the instructions to ERASE the previous code for that particular remote, NOT to program it. there are also instructions to erase ALL codes on ALL remotes/devices at once (which is JUST holding the receiver code button until it flashes). 🤣👍

How do I reset travel?? I replaced the sprocket and now it will only open a couple inches then stop!!

You can program the other buttons for other garage doors or to operate the light on the opener.
